Mac or a PC ?

Personally, I have to have a PC to run AutoCAD. I suppose it might be able to run on a Mac that has Windows installed on it, but what would be the point?

I've only had limited experience with Macs, and because I was not used to them, I found them very annoying to use. Buy what you are used to - switching will involve a learning curve. If you are concerned about the variety of software available, check to see what runs better on either system. My brother is doing video editing using Adobe Premiere on a PC, and he appears to be able to do as much as what was previously a Mac arena.

If the price were the same, I would buy a Mac, but I don't think it's worth the extra cost, unless you plan to work for the film industry.

Personally I would not drive a Ford, own a Mac, or sleep with sheep.

But hey, if it works for you - or you're Welsh.

Me too, I'd love to try a Mac OS if I wasn't forced to use Apple's expensive, ugly, hardware.

I guess I must be the only fag on earth who thinks that virtually all Apple products look shite.
The cases/laptops aren't ugly, just (along with the hardware inside) expensive.

A Macbook Pro 17", 2,4GHz from the Apple shop: $2,799.00
A Windows laptop from Newegg, 2,2GHz, otherwise same specs: $1,633.64

I like how all my Apple stuff works together. I can download a song on my iPhone, sync it with my laptop and then play it using my AppleTV. Everything works seamlessly together and I don't have to worry about shutting down processes or programs in the background.
Strangely enough, Microsoft products all work together as well. I wonder why

ok obviously everyone knows this except me but whats the difference between Macs and regular PC's?
Nothing. "Macintosh" is a computer model series from Apple. "PC" means "personal computer", which Apple computers are.

Of course we could debate about MacOS and Windows now, that's something different...

lol aww, your such a sweetheart lol , someone answer the poor guy, as I need help myself figuring it out lol

the operating system and the case that the guts are housed in.

just so that it's clear: you can buy the exact same guts in a pc.

...Although if it was officially possible to install MacOS on any PC-box, I'd get it.

it's possible, but apple doesn't want you to.

i should warn everyone. if you barely understand how to use a mouse, installing osx on a pc is too difficult for you. if you have atleast installed windows successfully in the past, then this tutorial will work for you.

**bump**

the info i gave can save poor struggling people the chance to use a cutting edge OS for dirt cheap.

if it weren't for hacks like these, i would never have been able to play around with computers; which means that i wouldn't have the amazing job i have now.

so i'm bumping to help my karmic scale. it might help someone who was in my position ten years ago. ;)

except there's no windows equivallent of iTunes, iPhone, or AppleTV so there's no windows version of downloading a song on the phone using your account, sync it onto your computer and play it over your set-top box.

There's so way to download commercial-free TV episodes onto a Microsoft TV box which will also sync with your computer and then onto your Phone where you can watch it while sitting on a plane.

And my iPhone does cool stuff like I can snap pictures on my iPhone while on set and just auto-upload to my website. I can also sync those pictures with my computer and then sync those with my AppleTV and view them as a slideshow.

Not sure if there's a windows equivalent of that, either.

Besides.. my Apple lap top makes me look cooler when I'm being all Weho in Weho.

How much did apple pay you for this post? lol

\You could purchase music on Windows Media Player where you could browse more than one store , ( stores like : napster , audible.com , emusic...etc ) and you could also sync your player to any connected device, let it be a cell phone, a t.v. whatever it is that you connect to your windows media player..

Maybe.. but it doesn't all just go together like Lego like it does with a mac. And I don't think the Zune will download songs on it's own the way my iPhone does.

and since Microsoft don't have a "phone" , you can't compare...

kinda my point.

The fact is, any PC can kick a mac's ass for less money. Nobody can disprove this arguement.

The one thing macs are good for - stupid people. So if you consider yourself a complete moron, then definately buy a mac. But if you're half way competent, then a PC will do everything a mac does, just as reliably, for half the price.

Meh. Why bother?

You're so wrong in every respect. Yes, there are windows equivalents of all those things, and they're cheaper. I'm too tired to go look them up and post them, but there are plenty of non apple internet/music phones, set top boxes, and itunes most certainly is compatible with windows. And yes, there's plenty of ways to download commercial free TV episodes that are compatible with any microsoft product.

Furthermore, your apple laptop doesn't make you look cooler, it makes you look gayer. If that's your thing then have at it....

Where can you subscribe to say... Prison Break... the whole season... and have it download to your computer and then jsut automatiically sync with your Set-top and cell phone? Have it automatically download every time there's a new episode? I've never heard of anything that does that and you're too tired to look it up. We seem to have a problem.

I'll just have to take your word for it that there's a microsoft product that takes pictures and uploads them with one touch to your website and even writes the html code. I'd never heard of it. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, I just didn't know it did. Too bad you're so tired.

I was also unaware of a microsoft product like AppleTV which would sync with iTunes and allow you to download TV episodes and play them on a big screen TV and still look goo and that it ALSO will download episodes itself.

And it's cheaper, too. I'm shocked.

Talk about a well-kept secret.

So far I haven't been able to get most windows machines to do much other than hang there and look tacky. You must me magic.

Um.. coming to a gay website and acting like being or looking gay is a bad thing is.. well.. kinda stupid.

Look.. I like my Apple products and how they all work together.. I like the design.. I like the OS. I can afford things that I like.

If you prefer Windows.. fine.. but saying that mac users and stupid just isn't the case.

Hrm... this Mac vs Windows thread was quite reasonable, until secondmonkey started.

In the old days, MAC's were more reliable than PC's, but now it's indistinguishable.
