Major JUB Meetup

^ I only read about it second-hand here on JUB. I think some of the participants are still around.

Between the drunk house and the Botanical Gardens? Nice. :)

Lex

Yeah like I said kinda dumpy area. Old apartments and mean manager as I recall. Also he was obsessed about people parking "illegally" and always threatened to call the cops immediately or have them towed.

I was thinking in the jub meet thread on the other side of the site about a couple of small(8-12 max) in the New York area which has never surprisingly had one, which frankfrank was enthusiastic about(one in late April, not coinciding with a larger proposed Chicago meet from kevbo) and one in mid September.

You know, they could be tied in to complement each other on successive weeks, with say the NY/NJ one from about Thu-Tue, followed by the Chicago one just two days later on the following Thu-Tue. People could fly from one meet to the next. (!)

And your Jersey City part should bring in loki81 and refuji, and your Brooklyn part should bring in NaughtyArousal. ..|

I realise of course that most people wouldn't be able to spare the time and resources for all that, lol, I'm already doing what I complained about others doing in my previous post - wildly speculating. ;)

I suppose what I'm really trying to do is to figure out something more for myself to do (theoretically) because were I ever to return to the U.S. I certainly wouldn't just go for a weekend. I wish I had more relatives and/or friends over there. I'd like to see places especially in New York and California but I guess I'd feel a bit like a fish out of water, it'd all be a bit overwhelming.

^How about in old York at ulom's pad? Yorkshire pudding here we come!

I met Sir ULOM last year one evening in York as I was travelling south. I was treated at an Italian restaurant, then we went a walk by the Minster, and then I was driven back to my lodgings by him.

Looking back on it I wasn't very good company, my personality and communication skills were lacking. #-o

Really? I would have thought you would get on with him...

btw any luck meeting your man there in Brighton?

We got on fine, but my (very likely) Asperger's traits mean that I always SEEM to be completely disinterested and disengaged with people, and I never look them in the eye. Couple that with a very frustrating tendency I have not to speak much to people, even if I want to, and the result is that I'm sure people get the wrong impression from meeting me. :(

Well,i'm out as this is only for Americans.
No, not true. I've met people from Canada, Ireland, Scotland, and London at JUB meets in the US. At one point Ravenstar (or was it Kester?) thought of coming to one of the meets, but it didn't happen. Nothing says, either, that only Americans can put meets together - nothing is stopping a meet from happening in South Africa, London, Montreal, Japan, etc.

I would actually consider trying to get to a meet even in Australia. Sometimes an overseas trip is just sitting there "in waiting," looking for any valid or even flimsy excuse to happen, haha.

I simply tolerate the snow here in Denver. i sure as hell don't love it. :)
The snow here in Colorado doesn't really bother me...usually bet a bit more than Denver where I'm at (don't care for driving in it, but other than that no big deal) Does look nice too :)

Whenever and wherever this happens, you boys need to take a lot of pictures. I want to see these guys having good, clean fun.

An Australia meet would be great, but there really aren't that many active members from around here. Plus, those that are active seem to be spread out pretty evenly across the country.

A while ago, ashonfire and I agreed to set up a meeting when we were both on break. Unfortunately, now that we're both on holiday, he seems to be busy on the weekends whereas I'm typically busy during the week. I'm sure we'll work something out, but I can't even imagine the organisational nightmare that would come with a major meet.

If any other Australians wanted to set one up, I'd do what I could to get there, but I'll leave the planning up to them. I don't need that kind of stress in my life.

How the hell do you figure? Toronto is like a 6 hour drive, the Dells are only 3...

The flight to Toronto is only like 1.5 hours

I consider looseliam a friend...

Cold comfort, indeed.

I lived in the East Mountains all last year, up a terrible, steep, and crooked gravel driveway. Had to park at the bottom and walk up. BUT, I lived in Anchorage from 2006 to 2009, so these things don't scare me.

Love, love, LOVE Albuquerque, so you come see me sometime when you come visit your auntie. Always welcome. That's a Southern thang (our paraphrase of Martha Stewart.)

I had a friend who lived in Anchorage a bit ago. I recall talking to her whilst watching the snow fall on downtown Chicago on a 20 degree day. It was warmer in Anchorage that evening than Chicago. I was not happy.

Yes I am one of the Canadians lol. Frank I have all ready organized a semi successful Montreal meet. How ever, I have since tried organizing another two Montreal meets but with no success.

Montreal is nice...hoping on a wing and a prayer to get into McGill for medical school. *mumble, mumble*

Anything in the Northeast works, but Midwest (Chicago) is probably best since people would just meet in the middle...
