I didn't go to the San Antonio meet, but they phoned me from there, and passed the phone around. I talked o GL and Circe and a bunch of others. Didn't talk to Elvin, but that's not too surprising, from what I undersand...

You sure it wasn't the Portland, Oregon JUB meet?
Yeah he meant Portland, of course - I don';t think there waas ever a Seattle meet. I'm one of those who refuji asked about, who is/was around at the time. As you know, I wasn't aware of any of the drama until entirely after the fact - only that a couple of the people there were dead tired and wiped out by that and/or other circumstances.

Yes I am one of the Canadians lol. Frank I have all ready organized a semi successful Montreal meet. How ever, I have since tried organizing another two Montreal meets but with no success.

Calgary would be ideal - a short drive - but alas no one!

LOL Chicken Guy, the itinerary of a New York area meet seemlessly leading into a Chicago meet would be terrific if possible, but alas as you say it 's more fun to speculate about then practical....maybe some people could attend either, a few could attend both but I don't want in these times economically anyone to break the bank as fun as it would be. I'm still interested in doing a New York area meet and I will put an updated proposed meet thread in the meets forum as this whole idea is still something I would like to see how much realistic interest can be gathered in the next several months.

As for palbert people I'm sure will want to use the buses and subways too and if it's not best for you to do a lot of walking you can join walk some and join us at the spots we plan to focus our visit. Being in the New York area yourself your own suggestions for places of interest definitely would be encouraged.I'm in Jersey City and there is still a lot about NYC I haven't gotten around to.

We can do this if enough interest(hell, even if only 4 or 5 locals end up showing up it would be great) in late April and/or mid September when the weather isn't too oppressively humid....two small or medium sized mees would be great. Most importantly, unlike otther meets there will be a great deal of input on where to go and we'll do things free form. If five people want to do one thing and another group really wants to do something else I want as much of the New York experience to be what those attending want it to be, so while lots will be done together New York is the Big Apple and some may want to take a bigger bite;) They'd be encouraged to do so and not be subject to the whims of an organized itinerary.

No, not true. I've met people from Canada, Ireland, Scotland, and London at JUB meets in the US. At one point Ravenstar (or was it Kester?) thought of coming to one of the meets, but it didn't happen. Nothing says, either, that only Americans can put meets together - nothing is stopping a meet from happening in South Africa, London, Montreal, Japan, etc.

I would actually consider trying to get to a meet even in Australia. Sometimes an overseas trip is just sitting there "in waiting," looking for any valid or even flimsy excuse to happen, haha.

I was planning to attend the Vegas meet back in 2009 (I think) but then the global financial crisis hit & I lost my job.

Given enough time I'd be up to consider flying in for a meet.

I have some interest in meeting in either Chicago or New Jersey/New York, but I am worried about if I will fit in.

Just something to think about and keep in mind; the Gay Olympics is scheduled for the summer of 2014 in Cleveland. I doubt that I would be able to host though.

My recommendations for regions and JUBbers I expect/demand to attend:

European - Either NW Germany or Netherlands - Corny, geloge, treanir, Seghers, Harke, Paws

Jeez, that's handsome meet-up! Put Nishin in there as well and I'd start looking at booking a flight.

There was a Melbourne meet-up a few years back which I did not attend. I'm fairly social but meeting big groups like that seems far less fun to me than getting to know people one on one or in small groups.

So who is Julie the cruise director?

Gurl you gots some work to do......

I would love to but I probably won't afford to go abroad in the next two years or so.

If you wanna have a Europe-America meetup you are welcome to come here :)

^^ It was also held at someone's home which was probably a recipe for disaster. Better to meet on neutral territory.

I'd love to visit Iceland !!
We could have an epic orgy on a glacier with an active volcano in the background or something... yay I can definitely picture that :D

Sure. I've always wanted to camp on a glacier.

Yes people actually do that, you just need good winter tents.

The Portland hookup did not meet the usual definition of a meeting. You'd think that a JUB meeting would be one long event, at which everybody participated, after which everybody went home.

In fact, the JUB meet lasted two or three days. Some came early, some came very late, and at all times, people came and went. The drama occurred in a relatively short window of time, so many didn't see it; others saw only a portion of it.

One incident involved people who didn't understand the gravity of a situation that developed, while another incident involved overt rudeness; a third incident involved different takes on the same situation.

Some, however, rate that JUB as one of the best ones ever conducted.

That JUB meet sure would make a good novella, told by a number of participants, relating each of their perspectives, in the spirit of the movie Rashoman.

PS. I know all of this because I asked a 1000 questions...

Ok Spill.

And if you can't do it in Public....send me a gossipy PM please.

OMG! I missed all that??? OK, I'm going to the next JUB meet!

 Johann, your description makes it sound real dramatic and glamorous.

But I reckon if they make a movie of that they should have Richard Gere playing "Alexander Burr".
