Man Finds Cash Cow........

Turn it for two reasons, one it's the right thing to do and two it could come back to bite you.

First of all not too many people carry 140.000 dollars cash to loose., unless its some kind of crime money...Second how hard will the bank try to find the owner..lol...not too hard.I would bet it would be put into someones acount..wonder who's

In regards to the news story, the bank has insurance for loss of money and theft and perhaps the employee who lost it will get fired or a repremand but Hey! he or she will learn not to be so careless next time.

I'd give it back.

Not because I think you should earn things. But It just would'nt feel right taking it.

I disagree with your post, first of all the $$$ was found not stolen, you can't compare the two with your examples.

What about salvagers and treasure hunters who find valuable things all the time, should they be locked up, No.

Rest assured if your careless to drop your wallet right after payday and it has no i.d. and I find it.........Well! You do the math. :p

Finders, Keepers. Baby!

I rather think I can compare - I just did. Look, who determines if something's lost?

Frankly, what if a guy was carrying a suitcase, dropped it, and stooped to pick it up. If you're quicker, does that make it yours? That's exactly what you're doing on a longer-term scale, and the court has to see it that way, because for all they know, you could have done something exactly the same. *Legally*, not morally, what's to stop thieves saying "Oh, we just found it in the street,"? It's not unheard of to find sums of cash in the street. You can't prove where it came from, that it was on the street when you found it, but it can't really be disproved either. So it has to be a crime either way.

Yes, if they're combing ground that isn't theirs and keeping things that they didn't earn.

Well, fair enough, since I don't carry cash, so if I also carried no identifying cards, well done; you've got a wallet. It's made of circuit boards. Enjoy. :)

Hmm... The way things are right now, I think I would keep the money. I could definitely use it. Besides, is the earned money I already have really "mine"? I mean, does U.S. money even really belong to the U.S.?

Eh, I don't know. I think I would definitely want to keep it, but when I play it out in my head and try to think about it realistically; who knows.

It's sad that the general conception with people is that if you drop something, that means it's theirs. When you guys lose your Wallets or whatever else and it doesn't get returned, please, don't bitch to any one or complain, cause you would've done the same thing. :)

I for one never complain, if I lost my wallet I'd kick myself in the ass for being so stupid and careless and if it was returned I would go into cardiac arrest from the shock.

It must be depressing to have so little faith in humanity.

$140,000 isn't like a $20 bill falling out of someone's pocket on the street. It's a lot of money. Obviously, that money has some importance. I would go through the proper channels to try to get it back to its owner. If no one claims it, then it's mine.

Sorry to say that you feel that way. I've worked in a Mall near a ATM machine, and people all the time would bring over credit cards that people have accidentally left in the machine. Yeah, it's pretty care less to do that, but that doesn't mean they deserve to be robbed.

That is not a good example, you said debit/credit cards are turned in. of course they would be, they are useless if one doesn't have the pin number, We are talking about cold hard cash, greenback, Moohal. Sheesh!

So if you did happen to know the pin, you would keep the card?

Unless your stalking the person or a professional thief (which I'm not) that is not possible.

That's not answering the question. If you somehow knew the pin, you would keep the card? That seems to be what you're suggesting. That crosses the line from being morally questionable to being illegal.
