Actually, Madonna's said tons of shit about Mariah. She said she would rather die than be Mariah, and she's made a lot of negative comments about Mariah through the years.

Mariah on the other hand, has said a lot of nice things about Madonna. she even complimented her at the Grammy's. She only said that thing about her "not paying any attention to her since 7th grade" as a retaliation (and she was right to do so.)

DAMN, you bitches can be catty and cruel! Can't we agree that both have their attributes rather than trying to pit them against each other? Mariah is a doll, but she's only mid-30's whereas Madonna is about to turn 48 and looks more faboo than any 48-year-old I can think of, especially considering that she hasn't had any major cosmetic work done.

Musically, I have always preferred Madonna and have found that her creativity has flourished more and more over time, whereas Mariah consistently churns out very bland, disposable contempo-pop. I used to love Mariah's early stuff, and still do, but have found that it hasn't aged very well, whereas even the earliest of Madonna's hits ("Holiday," "Borderline," etc.) seem to have a timeless sound that continues to stand up more than 20 years after they were first released.

I stopped buying Mariah's albums after "Butterfly" because I just got completely bored with her, but I'm glad to see her enjoying a career renaissance of late and not getting all the gossipy, negative publicity that she kept getting hammered with a couple years back.

In terms of who will have the more lasting cultural impact, clearly it will be Madonna. She has already had more cultural impact than any celebrity in history, and the woman is still going strong. Love her or hate her, that is a reality that cannot be denied. This post is obvious proof of that.

I'm going to throw in my 2 cents. Mariah is a better artist and singer and is better known worldwide for her talent. If you want to know Mariah has lose some weigh as of recent. She will premiere videos for 2 both "Fly Like A Bird" and "Say Something" and you will be able to tell she has hit the gym as of late. Madonna on the other hand needs to STOP. She is almost 50 and still doing that same ol', same ol'. I mean come on if you find that mess Madonna does the shit, you may need your head examined. That shit is cookie-cutter mess like Britney Spears.

I agree with mikey above...this is a spectacular thread!

Both Mariah and Madonna are a little loopy...and they both suck...though I'll give the edge to Mariah fatty because I like the remix of we belong together with Jadakiss...it still holds up for me. Madonna is done...she just had her second album in a row bomb and hasn't had a number one or top five hit in like six years. She's about to turn to dust and blow away.

Oh get over yourself jared...there is no conspiracy against Madonna...radio played her here in the U.S....on all types of different stations (adult, pop, dance)...hung up stalled at #7 cause she is over...I read Billboard online and though her sorry videos are all over the place the single is a bigger bomb than hung up..her album debuted at no. 1 and then dropped like a stone...being number one for a week means nothing either here or in europe and you know it...everyone's career fades at some point...you people outside the U.S. are just so used to worshipping our leftovers you still think she's cool.

And as for my mom...she's a hell of a lot cooler and more attractive than your mom or crapdonna.

Whilst they have both had their musical triumphs and failures, Madonna does it for me. She constantly re-invents herself and isn't afraid to try 'uncharted territory', she manages to do this with 2 children in tow and very little in the way of an entourage.

They both have their 'diva' moments, however, Mariah wins on that score! I thought Eartha Kitt, Dame Shirley Bassey and Meg Ryan could be 'temperamental', but Mariah just knocks everyone else off the scale totally.

Unfortunately because she wins in the 'diva' stakes - it means she loses. Maybe she should consider buying 'Neverland' and turning it into 'Dreamworld'.

u cannot compare mariah carey and madonna coz they r both excellent in different areas of music... although, it is true that mariah has the best female voice ever (closesly followed by christina aguilera), but that madonna is more innovative and cool

newayz, is it just me, or does madonnaz new stuff really suck??? her song "sorry" is dull, and not very catchy at all, n she looks like a complete nutter trying too hard in her music vidz...

Madonna is and always will be an ICON and a Living Legend. Lets see if Mariah will be number one in over twenty five countries when SHE's 47.

Madonnas U.S. fans are devoted to her and that is why her U.S. concert sales topped 125 MILLION ! Did Mariah even go on tour last year? Here in New York Madonna sells out Madison Square Garden every time, we are talking six sold out shows in a row! Mariah can sing but her shows suck! New york radio loves playing Madonnas new and old stuff and will always support Madonna. I think that because 'Sorry' didn't do as well as 'Hung Up' some people are taking the opportunity to hate on Americans but the truth of the matter is that U.S. fans will never let our girl down.

P.S. Approximately fifty percent of Americans cant stand Bush either. Don't lump us all together.

Okay, then how about the fact that Madonna has had more #1 pop chart singles than any female entertainer in music history worldwide, and is trumped only by Elvis and The Beatles as having more Top Ten hits than any musical act in pop music history???

I didn't mind the bitch when she was slutty and actually pushing people's buttons back when I was little...but what's great about her now? Except for a couple of gay people in Europe, no one cares about her...at least Mariah Scary moves records and has a voice...not to defend her too much but she does. How much crappy disco can you listen to?
