Remember the days you could turn on BET without seeing asses shaking and hearing somebody brag about who they shot? Rap songs used to be about summertime and fine girl's in english class, now it's about selling drugs, fucking groupies and kicking them out when you're done. Anyhow, as embaressed as I am by modern black entertainment, there is a reason why many cultural aspects of black entertainment are often mimicked, reproduced, and down-right copied. We know how to put on a good show.

FIRST EPISODE:
Martin: The Ex-files. Martin and Gina are preparing for their wedding, and when Martin's exgirlfriend Tanya turns up on the guest list, a wager is made for who's more jealous of who's ex. Martin and Gina each invite an ex to dinner and proceed to act a damn fool trying to make each other envious. These clips represent the entire episode (if you have 20 free minutes). For whoever makes it to the end, did we forget Gina could be so damn boisterous and beligerent sometimes?

I've also included a THROWBACK hip-hop jam, I Wish. Always being the shortest guy in class, i was constantly wishing i was a taller baller.

comments, suggestions, etc.. are welcome

that's one of my favorite episodes!!! i still find myself singing "Tanya Nicooooooole...i love your mole"

i was watching a clip the other day from an episode i must've missed. a classic Pam and Sheneneh argumen where Pam accuses Sheneneh of being jealous of the ring on Gina's finger. Sheneneh responds by tellin Pam to check herself before she ends up with "a ring around yo' damn EYE!!"

i think my favorite episode might be the one where Gina had to work at "Sheneneh's Sho'Nuff Hair Salon"...the part with Myra and those damn feet was HILARIOUS!!!!

AMEN!!! that one was hilarious. what about when martin won the lottery?? pam stepped in and said "wha's UUUUUUP!!!!

another favorite was the island getaway episode. "That ain't no damn puppy!!!"
gotta ask...did you ever have any dirty thoughts about "Bruh Man"? cuz i kinda did....
of course Tommy was just THE SHIT though!!! i didn't even care that apparently "ain't have no damn job!!!" and plus i was reasonably certain he had more than a lil sugar in the tank.....

My favorite Martin episode is probably when Pam was hypnotized to act like Martin! That was funny as hell!

I miss 90's R&B and Hip Hop (Xscape, Ginuwine, Blackstreet, 702, Biggie, Faith Evans etc)......

.....sighs nostalgically....

i'm STILL stuck in '95-'96. for me it was all about R&B girl groups. my favorite was Bad Boy's Total. i'm so fucking obsessed with those girls it's RIDICULOUS. my all time favorite jam is L.L.'s remix for "Loungin".....Total absolutely KILLED it on the hooks!!!
seriously i cannot get through a day without blastin that song at least ONCE. and yes, i know they weren't as vocally talented as some of the other groups, but for me it was all about their swagger. they just had this vibe that was like whoooooooah. i think that's a reason why everybody was gettin Total to lay down their hooks....L.L., Mase, Gangstaar, Tony Touch....probably missing a few.
my 2nd pick for the 90's i think would be "Kissin' You"...once again the "Bad Girls" laid it DOWN!!!

what about this one willsboy??

actually when this 1st came out it took me a minute to warm up to it. these days it's definately in my top 5. another thing i love about Total were their remixes. the 2 they did for "No One Else" were SICK. of course the Puff Daddy remix was more about Foxy, Kim , and Brat though.

Marleyisalegend thanks for the vids! Haha loved them!

Willsboy--no joke I have Loungin' on my computer and yes I totally play it at least 3 times a week (I'm playing it now just for fun!)

Summer of 96!!

LOL remember the Top 20 Countdown on BET???

It would come on Friday nights and I would watch it every week religiously. I think I remember having a little notebook and writing down the entire countdown every week (I was weird lol)

Donnie Simpson hosted with whats-her-face....what was her name again?? She was so beautiful!

haha memory lane....

I Miss 90s R&B too! SWV, Silk, TLC, Aaliyah, R Kelly, Boyz II Men, Faith Evans, Next, En Vogue, all the smooth jams....damn...i miss the 90s

At one point I was obsessed with EVERY group and/or performer you listed. I'm actually listening to Silk's " Girl You for Me" right now!:D

And then there's Aaliyah (swoons)...

LOL I remember going to the mall and buying the CASSETTE TAPES of:

Mariah-Daydream
TLC-CrazySexyCool
LL Cool J--Mr. Smith (I remember buying that with birthday $)
Toni Braxton
112
Faith Evans

Also remember Cassette Tape SINGLES??

My favorite was the SWV-You're The One cassette.
I also got Da Brat & T Boz-Ghetto Love on cassette.

You also gotta love making homemade mix tapes of songs on the radio LOL!

God the 90s was amazing!

Oh yeah I forgot--I miss Girlfriends too!!!

The WB used to show back to back episodes every Sunday afternoon at 3pm and I would always watch them before going to work lol.

I wish Jill Marie Jones never left. The show just isn't the same.

Last week on Cinco De Mayo I kept remembering that episode when Joan and William were supposed to put on that Cinco De Mayo show for the old folks home where Jill Scott worked at LOL

I couldn't get Joan's voice outta my head haha:
"Cinco De Mayo is holiday time! Holiday time...holiday time hey!"

and who could forget fresh prince??

I used to love Fresh Prince, but then Nick at Nite ruined that for me (they used to be so good, too!). I have a favorite episode, though. It was the one where Phillip sued Will and Carlton and each side told a completely different story. I loved it when Will painted he and Carlton to be these femmy, preppie do-gooders (though Carlton was). That was my favorite.

Oh, and xyboyms, I actually still have both of TLC's first two albums on cassette!

i forgot all about the Fugees!!! Wyclef and Pras kinda bugged the hell outta me but Lauryn Hill was just the shit!!! her singing voice was beautiful and lyrical skills were on point too. i loved her verse in "Fugee-La". their cover of "Killing Me Softly" was one of my must plays for that year. their was remix of it with set to a reggae type beat that was SIIIIIICK!!!

Family Matters was the shit!!

TGIF Friday nights!! Didn't it come on before Boy Meets World?? Or was it on after Step By Step??

Fugees! Summer of '96 again!!
