Palin/Prejean '12!!!!

Re: "Miss California" Loses Her Crown, After All

^ Refresh my memory. Is this the beauty queen who shares Obama's views on gay marriage?

An over-simplified association.

Unlike this bimbo, Obama has indicated that he supports gay civil unions with all the rights and privileges of marriage, including adoption.

When asked about civil unions, Carrie Prejean said she hadn't taken her thinking that far. Ha. Ha.

Re: FINALLY: Carrie Prejean miss calif has been fired

read it this morning in the paper, I'm not surprised. Couldn't happen to a nastier.....I mean nicer bitch

Re: FINALLY: Carrie Prejean miss calif has been fired

Hum.

I'll be the unpopular opinion here.

If she was fired because of attitude problem or any other issue then fine but I really don't think it's fair if it's only because of her pageant answer.

I have no problem with the fact that she said it.

I agree. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, no matter how much you or I disagree with it. To that I have no problem with her.

It's her behavior AFTER the pageant that is the problem, and for that alone was she fired. Remember Donald Trump came to her rescue and called a press conference defending her a month ago, only to have her act like a petulant child, as evidenced in the emails.

Her termination was due to any number of things. Insubordination, lack of professionalism, failure to complete her duties....you name it.

It's pretty clear she was fired for not living up to her end of the contract, not for giving an unpopular answer.

Re: FINALLY: Carrie Prejean miss calif has been fired

wasn't she the runner up? so she got fired from being the runner up? Who's the new runner up?

Re: FINALLY: Carrie Prejean miss calif has been fired

It's pretty clear she was fired for not living up to her end of the contract, not for giving an unpopular answer.

Is that why so many people are cheering and questioning her intelligence? Because the sanctity of the Miss America contract was violated ?

Re: FINALLY: Carrie Prejean miss calif has been fired

I hope she is humiliated -- but she probably isn't -- she probably want's to take up where Anita Bryant left off.

Anita Bryant actually backed off and recanted later. So where she left off wasn't so bad...it's where she was in the middle that was the problem.

Re: FINALLY: Carrie Prejean miss calif has been fired

Beauty pageants give fame and a speaking platform to some of the most loathsome, selfish, backbiting people in the country. Pretty != nice.

Re: "Miss California" Loses Her Crown, After All

That's what we said about Palin!!!

I really hope Palin stays around a little while longer. She typifies the bible beating bigoted closed minded religious right SO well that she's very useful for completely turning off independents.

Re: "Miss California" Loses Her Crown, After All

Not at all!

Prejean was asked
her position on gay marriage. She replied:

Obama was asked his position on gay marriage. He replied:

So, where is the difference between Ms. Prejean's position and Obama's position of what constitutes marriage? Nothing. They both state that marriage is "between a man and a woman"

Now, what part of that confuses you?

Are any Obama supporters in agreement with their president? Do they think marriage is only intended for people of the opposite sex? And does it bother them or lessen their support for Obama that he believes gay marriage isn't necessary? And if you do, how can you justify your anger at Ms. California yet affirm your supporting Obama on gay inequality, even as both hold the same beliefs?

I expect nothing but crickets.

This issue is broader than a simple-minded yes or no on gay marriage.

Obama opposes gay marriage, maybe for reasons of conscience or politics or both. Prejean opposes gay marriage for religious reasons. So far OK, little, if any, difference.

However, Obama supports civil unions with all the rights and benefits of marriage. In those countries like the UK, where this has been, more or less, implemented, all the separate but equal stuff has been shown to prove irrelevant. People regard Elton John and his spouse every bit as "married" as any straight couple, especially those married in a non-religious registry office.

But, even if you can't get past that, then it's on obvious step on the way to full marriage recognition.

Prejean's thinking, per her own statements, that I saw originally, hasn't got to gay civil unions, gay adoptions and such and so opposition to gay marriage is her only message.

As for being in agreement with Obama, many gays don't disagree with his strategy. It totally prevented gay rights from becoming a wedge issue to drive right wing voters to the polls and helped get Obama elected.

There's world of difference in a politician opposing gay marriage, but supporting gay civil unions with all the rights and benefits or marriage, and a beauty pageant contestant parading her bigotry.

Re: "Miss California" Loses Her Crown, After All

Taken from NOM:

(Princeton, NJ) - Today, the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) issued the following statement in response to the firing Miss California USA Carrie Prejean:

"Hollywood hates Carrie. First they abuse her, then they try to get her to recant, then they threw mud, and now they are doing what they wanted to do from day one: Get rid of Carrie.

This cover story about a contract dispute doesn’t pass the smell test. Americans aren’t fooled that easily. God knows, and we know, the truth about Carrie: She’s a young woman of great beauty who chose truth over the glittering tiara that Hollywood offers," said Brian Brown, Executive Director for NOM. "Of course they will try to punish her, but we know she will be fine in the end, because her values are in the right place."

"Hollywood will dance its tribal war dance over her body--the hatred generated against her has been extraordinary--but Carrie will be free to define her own mission and message from now on. Congratulations," stated Maggie Gallagher, President for NOM.

Seriously Maggie, get over it. She violated her contract and didn't want to work with them like Kieth and Trump said.

I'm so sick of Maggie banking on deceiving people and stretching truths.

Re: "Miss California" Loses Her Crown, After All

Tap dance all you want. Fact is (and you have not disproved -- and you can't, as these statements are public and verbatim) that Obama and Prejean both disapprove of gay marriage. That's a fact -- that's what it is.

The remainder of your excuses are mere embroidery.

You really believe Obama doesn't approve of gay marriage when as a state senator he was more accepting of it?

Does Illinois have a sizeable gay population? Or maybe Obama is trying to take a moderate (yuck) stance on the issue as president?

You think I'm tap dancing and embroidering.

I think you're choosing to be obtuse and simple-minded.

Let's just leave it at that and see whether we're any nearer widespread gay marriage, after Obama leaves office than we were before.
