Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50

^ uh, just at the end of 5 pages of grief ladies renting their garments and wailing like a Greek chorus did I finally pay attention because it seemed like an awful lot of fuss for one more plasticized American pop star.

I read some of the comments from others and realized that I was so indifferent.

And I thought, with all the hysteria about dead celebs, it just seemed timely to express my emotional state too.

I'm doing it, because I want all the others who are afraid to voice their 'Who the Fuck Cares', to realize that it is okay not to give a rat's ass that Ed, Farah and now Mikey have left the building.

Wow, who crapped in your cornflakes? I for one DO care. I liked all 3 of them. I was more of an MJ fan back in the 80's. Regardless if they are celebs, they are still human beings. They left behind loved ones just like anyone else. MJ's brother looked like he was going to fall apart as he announced it on TV last night.

I was shocked when I heard it on the news last night. I'm still in shock.

Re: how do you feel about michael jackson...

I thought I was the only person who wasnt inconsolable after hearing the news. Ive been bombarded by MJ related facebook status'. I think it is unfortunate when anyone dies before their time and leaves children without them. I do appreciate his contribution to music but I dont get why people are just so devastated.

Re: how do you feel about michael jackson...

One day we've gotta start treating these people like humans again.

I wonder if that day is ever gonna come.

But yeah he was a great talent and made some damn good music. I grew up listening to him so I am a bit sad about his passing.

I never cared about all the drama that surrounded him. All I know is that he made some great music and touched alot of people in this world.

See ya Mike you'll be missed.

Re: Favorite Michael Jackson songs

Mine is Remember the Time and Stranger in Moscow.

Re: RIP michael jackson!

I have deeper problems? Lets not sugar coat things. He MAY have been a pedophile. I'm just saying the truth will come out. I can't cry over that. He was a very odd person. And why are so many people shocked by his death? He's been plagued with illness his whole life and on drugs for pain. His nose was falling off for God's sake! Farrah is heartbreaking. Michael isn't a shocker.

What you're saying is so absurd.. so Farrah Fawcett (R.I.P.) who was suffering from cancer for the past years was a shock and michael jackson who was planning a comeback concert wasn't? She was a wonderful, beatuiful person, but not a lot of people outside the U.S really know her.. HE's a global phenomenon, you shouldn't judge people for their personal lives, that's their business, people should remember him for his one of a kind showmanship, his voice and his moves.. whether you liked him personally or not, you can't say you didn't like his music...

once again R.I.P. Michael Jackson, you will be greatly missed...

and i know this isn't my thread but plz, if you're not gonna say anything nice, don't say anything at all,
have some respect for the recently deceased..

"You and I must make a pact, we must bring salvation back, where there is love, I'll be there" Michael Jackson/Jackson 5

Re: how do you feel about michael jackson...

I love his music...have since I was a kid...sure he got weird towards the end...but honestly I don't care. He was a musician and I admire him for his music not for his personal life.

and I don't know why so many people are like "this news coverage is ridiculous!" I remember almost equivalent news coverage for Anna Nicole and Heath Ledger. I was kinda wrapped up in the Anna Nicole stuff....but Heath Ledger was one that I could not understand why there were so many distraught people. He was a mediocre actor who was in two memorable movies before his death(one after his death). That's just my opinion but to each his own.

RIP Ed, Farrah, Michael

Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50

RIP MJ

I can't believe it... I had tickets to go see him live in August. A once in a lifetime experience that will now never be.

As a friend of mine put it "Today music died..."

Re: Favorite Michael Jackson songs

Didn't he have a song about a mouse? I liked that one. Other than that besides last night at the bar it has been years since I have heard any of his music so I don't know.

Yes, he did have a song about his pet rat called "Ben" when he was only 13 yo.

I have been listening to MJ songs and "tributes" since I woke up 15 hours ago. The only song I would like to hear and have people react upon is "Beat it".

I just wonder if most people would be this interested if he was not dead? Honest question...

Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50

I loved MJ and Farrah. Yesterday was like a part of my youth died. Incredibly sad to lose just one childhood icon in a single day.... but two????

Yeah, as an 11 year old boy I had a multitude of Farrah posters, pictures, notebooks, etc. Her hair...her teeth...her elegance... She was my first crush.

Then, MJ was a musical God!!! Thriller in 1983 was huge just as I transitioned out of high school and into college. Years earlier, I had loved the Off the Wall album, but Thriller was incredible. Younger people have no idea how the MJ phenomenon swept across age/racial boundaries. The first of many articles that I was to write for my college newspaper was actually a feature on the Thriller impact on music and society as well as the industry.

For those who wish to focus on the MJ scandals of the last decade, understand that some of us remember MJ when he was just a normal, soft-spoken kid without the baggage you view today. Sentimentally, his death takes us back to those formative years and who we were during that time as his music was always a backdrop to whatever was happening in our lives during those pivitol years.

Re: how do you feel about michael jackson...

Other than him being a Icon, not much

Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50

I'm listening to his "Invincible" CD right now. I'm so glad to be able to hear his music. He is a real legend now. RIP Michael.

Re: RIP michael jackson!

Michael's legacy eclipses any negative events from the past. He was and is an amazing performer. RIP Michael.

Re: RIP michael jackson!

R.I.P Michael you will be missed.

Re: how do you feel about michael jackson...

It's very difficult to listen to his CD without getting choked up. I was a fan a long time ago and through the years and all the madness I sort of put him on the "back burner". Now as I'm listening to his "invincible" CD I find myself jamming to the beat one minute and trying not to cry the next. We will never forget you Michael.

Re: RIP michael jackson!
