Re: Red necks comments on Jackson death vs. JUB

am i the only one thinking that mj did this on purpose? think of elvis, he died at a young age and is now immortalized at the king of rock and roll. mj's career was waning (just like elvis) he was planning a comeback (just like elvis) but he must have known that a comeback would only be temporary (just like elvis'). I wouldnt put it past a super ego to plan his own immortality.

Re: Red necks comments on Jackson death vs. JUB

King of pop, Queen of angels both gone in the same day, R.I.P and thanks for the many memories you gave us.

Re: Michael Jackson Traffic Melts Entire Internet

^ It has happened before: the legend becomes a myth, the king a saint and the emperor a god.

Re: Red necks comments on Jackson death vs. JUB

Now think about this. What grown man in his right mind is going to have somebody else's kids sleeping in his bed with him? Even if he didn't do anything, a normal person would think "Hey. This could look really bad!". If nothing else, it shows extremely poor judgment and a very loose grip on reality.

answer: a grown man who enjoys the "company" of kids.

what parent in their right mind would let their kid spend the night with a grown man?

answer: a parent who's willing to whore their kid out for the money it's gonna get them.

Re: Michael Jackson Traffic Melts Entire Internet

Entire internet? I hadn't noticed. No noticeable impact to my daily surfing.

Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50

I get it. Not everyone liked Michael Jackson's music, talent or whatever. BUT, like it or not, Michael Jackson has a HUGE influence on today's music and dance. You may not be into R&B, Hip-Hop, Rap or Pop, but it doesn't mean it's not relavant. A LOT of music is inspired by what Michael Jackson was doing 20-30 years ago. Do you even realize hot difficult it is to stay that relavant and timeless?

I think it's IGNORANT to no even realize that much. I mean think about it, if you turn on the radio to a pop or R&B station, there's a good chance you'll hear a style or a sample that has some roots in what Michael Jackson did. You may not like that music, but what Michael did was iconic. Think of any big artist, the biggest artist you can think of, your favorite artist. New music that comes out chances are sounds nothing like it. New music, chances are isn't patterned after it. New music doesn't sample it. That's what special about Michael Jackson.

If you watch SYTYCD on TV, you know how much Michael is in some of the dances. A lot of the choreographers on the show talk about how they went into dance cause of Michael.

I don't get why people don't understand it. I understand why people don't like his music. Just like I don't like country music, but I would respect if there was a country music icon that changed the face of country music after decades of bringing country to the world. I would recocognize the loss of that person.

Also, I'm Asian and there are parts of the world where music is easier to come by than food. People LOVE, absolutly ADORE Michael Jackson. It's brings them joy and fun in their otherwise struggling existance. I've seen people that are so poor that they sing cause they're hungry. I mean seriously. They're not going to know the likes of music that you prefer. They will never in their life time even come to know of that music. But everyone will know Michael Jackson. Yes they are far behind in their music. Overseas they still watch Baywatch and old 90210. But again, some you guys are ignorant to what it's like outside of our borders.

Think about what Michael Jackson accomplished, selling 750 million records, influencing so much. His influence is an undeniable fact (you can list and back up facts of Michael Jackson's influence on music, heck you can probably quantify it). Yet people still seem to not get it. People still seem to think that just because it's not their preference that they don't understand how he was a great. Maybe you should open your eyes and become more in tune to it, cause it's all around you.

Re: Michael Jackson Traffic Melts Entire Internet

I have not noticed the shutdown. I checked because I am deaf and ely on the internet for immediate news and info.

Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50

His music sales have skyrocketed in the past day. Now he can afford to pay off all those debts!

I already had all his albums but this is for his kids' futures too. Every store I went to was sold out of his music. Its like everyone realized again how relevant his music truly was. RIP MJ

Re: Michael Jackson Traffic Melts Entire Internet

I didn't notice anything either.

Re: Red necks comments on Jackson death vs. JUB

The members of JUB have long proved to be no more tolerant, caring, or mannered than the general population...
Ain't that a kicker? Any delusions I may have had that gay people were more t, m, or c than the g p disappeared after a couple years of lurking & posting here.

Re: how do you feel about michael jackson...

while i didn't always agree with some of the things in his personal life...i'm the last person to be judging someone. I don't think that's for anyone to do honestly only one person above should be doing that.

As far as his music and how it affected me to keep it short. It hasn't stopped affecting whether its me choosing to not conform and listen to what people expect me to. Or my love of dancing that was brought on hearing "Rock With You" back when i was an teenager. It never stops affecting me he will be so missed many people. He did a lot for so many people. RIP MJ:(

Blessing to all of his family and his children. I hope that they are watched over in their times of need.

Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50

The media coverage has been unreasonably overdone. I doubt the death of Obama or the Pope, or the return of Jesus Christ would get this much coverage. Nearly 100% of all the news is on MJ. But I am absolutely certain that less than 25% of the public really cares about MJ that much, and they likely would like to be able to get other news, or programming. We could be getting nuked by North Korea tomorrow, and the news would still be talking about MJ 24/7.
MJ is a global superstar. A real global superstar, not a selfproclaimed one. I think that 25% is more like 80%-90% which is why it is getting all the coverage.

The superstar comment is obvious. But my original point (from days ago) was that 24 hour news coverage was unwarranted, without showing any other news for a whole day. And I really doubt that 9 out of 10 people really wanted to have 24 hour news coverage on MJ. That certainly hasn't been my experience with the people I encounter every day.

The first day after his death is expected. I would have been surprised if they hadn't of spent the whole day on non-stop Michael coverage. It is Michael Jackson after all.

Today though, inbetween MJ coverage, they are talking about Iran again and doing other news stories. But the focus is still on Michael, which is expected seeing how all types of weird stuff is happening around his death. (like his personal doctor fleeing the scene before paramedics arrive)

Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50

It's as traumatic as 9/11. The sudden death of Michael.

Re: Michael Jackson Traffic Melts Entire Internet

Immediately after he died, twitter slowed to a crunch. I don't doubt Google slowed down, but I didn't notice.

I heard a lot of torrent and download sites are going slow as people try and get his music, and record stores are selling out of his CD's, which isn't all that surprising, I doubt they had a big stock of his stuff.
