Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50
I'm still referring back to this original post by vanman and the House of Representatives. Why was Michael given a moment of silence when a war hero received nothing? Were Ed and Farrah 'has beens'? Sure, Michael was great in his time, but he's been more of a controversy than an entertainer for the past few decades.
I can understand vanman being perturbed about this and I'm trying to figure out why the other two were ignored when Michael was singled out to be honoured.
I'm still not sure either word is totally accurate. MJ has always been 'international', and by virtue of the net, Perez is 'international'. The two of them are of this generation/era and are far more recognisable to the users who dwell in Hot Topics and Celebrity News and Gossip. The likes of Ed and Farrah are of a different generation/era and virtually unknown to those same users.

How lovely that our great politicians honor a likely pedophile and drug addict....
