Oprah Winfrey Network postpones Michael Sam documentary

If you were looking forward to watching the Rams linebacker Michael Sam documentary series on the Oprah Winfrey Network, you might have a longer wait than expected. Or a wait that will never end.

On Friday evening, OWN announced, via the St. Louis Post Dispatch, that the Sam documentary would be postponed.

No, no it might not be.

History is littered with up-and-coming sports people who make big-money moves or big-money deals and then fail to deliver on the pitch and never quite get their groove back. Give the guy a season or two to show how well he's transitioned to the big leagues, then make the documentary or reality series. At least then there is something to show, and it doesn't need to become manufactured non-event drama like you see on most reality series.

But the point of the show -- what Oprah is calling a documentary -- is portraying how the first openly gay draftee goes through the initial training on the way to actually making them team.

There was a guy on youtube who I thought at first was just talking rumors and stuff because I wasn't able to find that much info about it on the internet, but it was confirmed when espn showed the little segment before his speech on his childhood story.

That was how he is the youngest of seven brothers and one sister. how three of his brothers are currently incarcerated, one brother was shot and killed by the police, and another drifted away from the family.

Also how growing up in poverty and in crime, his mother couldn't afford his football uniform equipment and shit and basically told him playing football was out of the question.

The white family that he was surrounded by on draft day was the family that gave him the money to play football in hs and pay his tuition for Missouri state. So everything is connected and there is a reason for things.

Sun Devils lineman tells magazine he's gay

According to the ASU coach:

Sarafin also received support from Michael Sam via Twitter.

It's still far from certain if he'll make the Rams roster, but given his great pre-game performances it's safe to say he'll be picked up by A team.

I must say that I'm both shocked and disappointed by this news. Michael Sam failed to make the team's 53 man roster and was cut by the Rams organization. The number one college defensive player of the year (Michael Sam) lost his spot to an undrafted rookie.
