I think the article said that in the video he pushed the 11 year old then punched her when she got up.

He's perpetuating violence. He could have left. He's an adult, that was time to act like one, not act like a trump bully.

Being the young snot she is I doubt a war of words would have gotten him anywhere either.......except to have maddened him even more.

That was my thought too, but if the average lifespan is going to be 79 now, then we should do the math.

79 should be divided by 3. That's 26.3 years per third of life.

Anyone in America today who is over 52.6 years of age is in the last third.

I could care less if she was Neapolitan striped and he was a Nazi officer. The pack of youths were acting like hyenas. Their parents were at fault without racial implications. If they had simply been under parental control, the public wouldn't have been endangered, and one of them wouldn't have been punched to make the pack scatter.

Thank God they are cowards instead of like the ones in that Vin Diesel movie, or he would have been picked clean to the bone in seconds. Just because they are not fully grown doesn't make them safe.

The last time I posed a hypothetical, then I answered it. And then he steamed off, pissed. (Though that was an adult who acted like a child, but to my mind close enough. Manbaby, in other words). The time before that I stated two facts and humiliated the kid, got his friend laughing at him, and when I turned back around to kick the buggers off my walk they had left. There's oodles of ways to get people to deflate.

Why is it cis guys think physical violence is always a first resort? They're not the only ones with Ptsd but they do tend to be the only people I see in the news who say, after they've been charged with battery, ""I have ptsd.". Which isn't to say he doesn't have have the condition, far from it. But I don't think a lot of guys put much effort into working through or actually managing their emotions - they expect others to do it for them. Not like he couldn't have hopped over a downed eleven year old, being a 250 pound grown-ass man.

I mean, here's an uncomfomfortable for-instance to chew on; that fight or flight response is his to manage. You ain't stuck in fight in ptsd, it's a consistent battle. For that matter, most of it is neutralization, which by necessity is flight, so it's awfully fucking funny that, from what I'm reading he turned around and punched someone? Its the turning around thing, here, that's giving a me pause. He should've been leaving the situation to calm his brain. As in, dodging the downed child and finding mall security. Again.

Or just walking through one of them. He's 250, and they weigh how much?

And while I hasten to add I noticed he didn't claim it was the fault of ptsd, his lawyer seemed keen to point out the possibility. If he wasn't, he wouldn't have mentioned it to the reporter. Can't really blame the lawyer but I do dislike the conflation that Ptsd equals automatic physical violence, especially since the stress is nasty & neutralization takes many 'forms'.

For instance, one person might agree to everything and smile a lot and then, days later, shrug, look uncomfortable when you bring up what they'd agreed to, for instance. It's not that they were happy & willing; you triggered them and they were trying to appease you to get you to go the fuck away like, I don't know, their physically abusive spouse they're not allowed to tell you about. Oh, the forms these things take.

Oh, and one correction from an earlier post, bit of a grievous one. There ain't a bunch of guys going 'I have ptsd'. There's bunches of guys making excuses for mass murderes while ignoring the great wide gap of all the other mentally ill individuals who, well, don't tend to have quite so high a sense of entitlement.

Wouldn't have been so grievous of one if I could fucking sleep. I have high hopes for a good rest by Tuesday after next.

....and just because I can't sleep, and god knows I'm not one for showering praise, I'll point out its excellent the man's in therapy. Self examination is a pain in the ass and too few people bother to perform even the most rudimentary of efforts - so once something goes tits-up, gets juuuuust that much more difficult (obviously), so the fact that he's there slogging away at it is definite point in his favor as a decent human being. Also, saved old lady. Unfortunately he needs to do some more legwork because I think his psychiatrist might be waggling their finger at that concept of self control if he actually pivoted on the ball of his foot. That's, what, two out of three? Don't think I'd count the push myself, that's more of an escape route. Don't need a big one, anything that tiny folds like a house of cards when 250 pounds nudges at faster than a walking pace.
