Midwest Meetup!

Either itinerary sounds great to me. And I double-checked my schedule: I'm giving my final exam on April 30, so I'll be free in time for this meet. I'm gonna see Poguita and Kevvy-poo's titties! :~D

i'm still very much interested, but i will need to check finances and such. :)

I've been using Hotwire, just tonight, to check hotel rates in downtown Minneapolis.

3 & 1/2 and 4 star hotels were $64-$69 a night.

Air fares from Portland were all over the map, but there were a few bargains.

Maybe we can make this one THE MOTHER OF ALL JUB MEETS! :D

I sooo want to attend this meet! :D

Everything depends on my finances...I can't say at this moment if I can, but I'm going to try!

I'm still a Definite Maybe.

We have issues.

Depends on a lot of things. Job, Partner, Timing, Weather, etc.

However, if we do make it, we'll have alternate (free) housing options as we have family there. Or we'll be camping. But don't count us in for hotel rooms.

Been discussing it with my guy, and IF the finances are there then, I think the both of us will be attending :D. He's not a Jubber yet, but I may be able to bring him to the dark side.

Not going to be able to attend, not a weekend I'll be allowed to take off from work.Smack right into big spring sale week. The itinerary sounds like fun Transpogue, sorry I can't make this one :(but hope it's a huge success!..|

Hey, "Kids"!

We're still running at about 98% sure! The dates are "circled", and we're definitely aiming for it! Of course, there are "things" that might interrupt our intentions. :grrr: Will know a lot more after Feb.!

I would prefer to bring "My" Kev along. But, since this seems to be shaping up as a chance in a Lifetime ... I just might make the trip on my own, even if I have to leave his sorry ass at home!

Keep smilin'!!(*8*)
Chaz ;)

Had the talk with the good Dr. tonight... He's not opposed to it... I've got it in my head that I want him to come also, but he said he doesn't mind me coming by myself if his schedule is conflicted... and that remains to be seen... count me in at 75%.

I'm getting more and more excited about this!

Only a little over 5 months left!

I'm looking forward to it greatly!

I just hope the meet isn't TOP-HEAVY with clubbing! I remember that being so much so at St. Louis, that I swore off all future JUB meets at the time, but later tried Anaheim because (as strange as it seems, at such a distance) I happened to have plans to be in the neighborhood. That meet was a pleasant surprise, and changed my mind from "no more JUB meets" to eagerly looking forward to them at the utmost.

I find myself barely functional, in any way, inside loud dance clubs...perhaps my least favorite out of all forms of human entertainment. One night is fine...but if Friday also shapes up with no alternative to it, I won't be there at all.

There seems to be quite a list of people planning to go, and I look forward to the actual list which will of course change.

Still able to come, pretty much 95%. Can't do a hotel though, live too close to really see it worth spending the Benjamins.

I'll be going pretty much, but I won't be doing the clubbing bit. I am tired of walking by the clubs daily, so why would I want to go into them? :/

I am sure there is/could be an alternative. A wine tasting party would be a nice alternative. But that is me thinking loudly. XD

Hey......... that's a great idea!

Like you & Frank, I'm not really a clubbing kinda guy. I might go in for 15 minutes just to see what they're like (I've been to only 2 gay bars in my life) but I'm not gonna spend any appreciable time there.

My partner and I live just outside the Mpls city limits, so we're close to downtown. We could host a wine-tasting party (with juice or soda for those who don't imbibe). Or we could head to the Wilde Roast Café, a gay coffee shop.

That way, the clubkids can do their thing, and we can do ours.

Would that be OK, Kevbo & Poguey?

Please, folks, don't avoid the meet simply because you're not a clubber. I'll make sure we have an option.

I think that Wilde Roast or the wine tasting at your digs sounds like a great idea. A good event Friday night for when people are just getting to know each other. :)

Also, it's VERY generous to offer your home. (*8*)

I would offer mine, but I'm in a studio, so it would be like all of us gathering into a large dorm room.
Ha ha!

Well that's cool. I think we'll have something for everyone!..|

Lube, great idea!

In the past, at JUB meets, the best times were had, it seems, in intimate spaces.

We liked meeting in hotel rooms, as a group, or at a quiet brunch.

You have provided the perfect place for all of us to mix!

Just a need to gently clarify--The club events that transpired in St. Louis were not exactly planned that way. Friday night consisted of dinner at the Hard Rock, and then bowling was actually planned at a nearby alley. It was discovered that the alley itself was rather small, and the cost a little more than expected, and there were also people calling in who were just arriving at the hotel, so we all went back to greet them. A good deal of time was spent just sitting in the lobby, talking and laughing, and once everyone was there, the group decided since it was so late to just hit a local club. We were practically the only ones who were there.

Saturday night's group of 35 or so people had dinner late into the evening, and many of them wished to go for drinks and dancing afterwards, so the group moved there. That was after a day at the arch and a good lunch, then time for people to go back to the hotel and change or hang out if they preferred. Thanks to Daniel's planning, there was a visit to Union Station and lunch on Sunday.

Absolut and Eagle put together a fun weekend where many seemed to have a great time, and I didn't want others who weren't there to think that the St. Louis meet was just a drunken pub crawl of debauchery. If that had been the case, so many jubbers who hold it in fond memory because of the connections they made there probably would not have done so.

Hey there... was told to check this thread out from the Show Yourself Off part... so here I am! I'm moving to Minneapolis in 3 days, so most likely I'd be able to make it in May. :-)

Yes, please come visit us!

And I'm always looking for local JUBbers to meet at Wilde Roast Café.

What kind of cafe is that, and where is it? I'm free most evenings once the new semester starts! Now, how many people usually attend, and what is the age range?
