Actually I do think there could be a solid case here as he could have felt coerced. If he didn't, the agent could have spread all sorts of negativity about him. And in that business it could mean the end of a career. He'll just need to hire a very good attorney to prove it.
I agree. The situation probably occured because the photgrapher he was working with was using his position and power to manipulate him. Bowers is a young model on the rise. He probably felt some obligation to please the photographer for the sake of building his career. He may have felt intimidated by the photographer's position. Perhaps he felt if he had refused to 'perform', the photographer would have refused to use him in the shoot. Then perhaps labeling Bowers as 'difficult' or 'tempermenatal', possibly damaging a reputation he is still in the midst of building. I'm sure almost every male or female model has experienced what Bowers had, but they don't say anything for the sake of their career. I don't think stupidity is the issue, more of less naivety like most people that age. I'm sure he felt helpless in the moment, as well as confused at how the photographer was manipulating him. After the fact, he probably had a self-talk or spoke with someone else, re-evaluated the situation and decided to speak out.
Modelling is not a profession.
People should do it for fun and get paid for it if they have the look
Modeling is and can be a profession. Not everyone has the longevity but those that do can have rather long, profitable careers that can even allow their name to bring other profitable opportunites. It's very few that have the advantage to make a real career from modeling, but it isn't unheard of either.
