Mike Jones outs Ted Haggard

I hate hypocrisy and when a person panders to and reinforces bigotry and gets rich from doing so, while engaging in exactly what he preaches against, is the worst form of it. While I in no way condone Jones' drug dealing and would never engage in his life style, at least has the guts to do something right and expose this hypocrit. I just hope he is telling the truth because, if not, he is harming the Gay community and fueling Haggard's views.

It's the event, the people involved are just players. But even so, yes, I appreciate the actions of this "gay prostitute drug dealer". The role models will be seen in the gay people who manage to turn this into a national discussion about how religion leads people to hide their identity and deny what "god" has created. Good luck with that.

I agree...

So I am the only one who's fucked a pro? !oops!

If this is true, then I kind of feel bad for Haggard. Imagine living inside an evangelical bubble all your life, all the while knowing that you are gay. Think of all the self-denial, lies, and pressure to lead a "straight" life to appear normal to your religious community. I think that would be enough to make a person go crazy.

I've lived like that for 43 years! It CAN make you crazy, but fortunately many come out of it just fine!!

not that I'm following this story because I'm not into american politics, but it seems to me that this story and the other one currently in the news, all seem to be close to some kind of election? From where I sit, it seems to be typical election tactics of finding dirt on your opponents in any way, shape or form to make them look bad. and I am uninamious in this

I'm glad I got this thread going. Thanks for the comments guys. I am sitting here in Sydney, so the US politics for the elections doesn't worry me personally. But am in unison with my US brothers seeking more justice and fairness to live their lives.

And I know here in OZ how influential conservative religious types and Catholic Bishops can be in controlling our lives.

But I still like Mike Jones for what he did. And and I think he is hunky too woof woof !!!

i figured out arguing with conservatives on JUB is a waste of time but what the hell...yes tonyboy...these guys do claim to be perfect. there are vids of this guy giving anti gay sermons...he's aligned himself with a movement that brands homosexuals as sick and preaches that himself...he also is the major force behind colorado's anti gay marriage amendment which is being voted on tuesday. this is somethin called HYPOCRISY or DO AS I SAY AND NOT AS I DO...that's wrong. and whenever a hypocrite is exposed, those that were his victims are happy...so get a grip. i'm closeted but it doesn't mean i gotta go out and preach against out gays does it? he shoulda kept his fat ugly mouth shut.

Well man, I don't want you to argue with me if it is something that upsets you. Actually I'm not here to aruge anyway.... and while you may choose to label me a conservative, I do have some social views that do not fit with the mainstream conservative way of thinking.
You may have videos of the Rev. Haggard talking about gays as 'sick', I havent seem them so I cannot comment on that. I do know that many individual Evangelical Christians use such terms I don't think that the message their chruches preach is that gay people are 'sick'.... only that they are not following the word of God as written in the Old Testament. Many churches have members that speak out against homosexuals, but they are speaking members James. As I said you may have some knowledge of this particular church and pastor, info that I don't have.
I agree that this man did speak against the homosexual marriage amendment but so what? I am a gay man, and I'm not sure I support that amendment either. Just because a person is gay doesn't mean that they need be in lockstep agreement with all things that are on the national gay leaderships agenda. There are many things to consider with such an amendment; things that could affect our society in many different ways. Some may be good, and some bad.... it does all of us good to consider all aspects.
A good citizen does not consider an issure from a selfish point of view; one should look at how it will affect the rest of society. I'm not saying I wouldn't support such an amendment, could be I would. But it could be that Haggard looked at it from his point of view, even as a 'gay' man and decided it would not be good for society at large. I may come to that point of view too. Just because I'm gay doesn't mean that I look at all social issues from the gay point of view. How ridiculous that would be.
I am a gay man, but being gay doesn't define me. Could be that it doesn't define Ted Haggard either. And man, we don't ever know if the guy is gay.
It is so easy nowadays to place the hypocrisy label on another human James.
I believe that legalized gambling harms this country more than it helps it, yet I love to go to Vegas and take my chances. Does that make me a hyprocite?
And man, how do you figure you have the right to declare another man a hyprocite? That is up to God..... you have no idea what is in another mans heart. His actions and his speech may seem at odds to some of us.... but unless we know that is in the heart we shouldn't judge.
I am not an Evangelical Christian.... that is not why I am posting here.
All I'm saying is that we shouldn't use the word hyprocite towards another person..... since we cannot see in to that persons heart we dont' know what his confilcts or true feelings are.

Thanks tonyboy for the piece on "hypocrisy". You gave us some good thoughts there to consider. Must say I agree with you that this sort of label doesn't help anyone.

Haggard is dealing with something that has always been in him, and he dealt with it by hurti ng so many guys through his hard words against what he himself is -- a guy with gay tendencies. I trust that now Haggard will watch his own words and how he judges people too.
