i figured out arguing with conservatives on JUB is a waste of time but what the hell...yes tonyboy...these guys do claim to be perfect. there are vids of this guy giving anti gay sermons...he's aligned himself with a movement that brands homosexuals as sick and preaches that himself...he also is the major force behind colorado's anti gay marriage amendment which is being voted on tuesday. this is somethin called HYPOCRISY or DO AS I SAY AND NOT AS I DO...that's wrong. and whenever a hypocrite is exposed, those that were his victims are happy...so get a grip. i'm closeted but it doesn't mean i gotta go out and preach against out gays does it? he shoulda kept his fat ugly mouth shut.
Well man, I don't want you to argue with me if it is something that upsets you. Actually I'm not here to aruge anyway.... and while you may choose to label me a conservative, I do have some social views that do not fit with the mainstream conservative way of thinking.
You may have videos of the Rev. Haggard talking about gays as 'sick', I havent seem them so I cannot comment on that. I do know that many individual Evangelical Christians use such terms I don't think that the message their chruches preach is that gay people are 'sick'.... only that they are not following the word of God as written in the Old Testament. Many churches have members that speak out against homosexuals, but they are speaking members James. As I said you may have some knowledge of this particular church and pastor, info that I don't have.
I agree that this man did speak against the homosexual marriage amendment but so what? I am a gay man, and I'm not sure I support that amendment either. Just because a person is gay doesn't mean that they need be in lockstep agreement with all things that are on the national gay leaderships agenda. There are many things to consider with such an amendment; things that could affect our society in many different ways. Some may be good, and some bad.... it does all of us good to consider all aspects.
A good citizen does not consider an issure from a selfish point of view; one should look at how it will affect the rest of society. I'm not saying I wouldn't support such an amendment, could be I would. But it could be that Haggard looked at it from his point of view, even as a 'gay' man and decided it would not be good for society at large. I may come to that point of view too. Just because I'm gay doesn't mean that I look at all social issues from the gay point of view. How ridiculous that would be.
I am a gay man, but being gay doesn't define me. Could be that it doesn't define Ted Haggard either. And man, we don't ever know if the guy is gay.
It is so easy nowadays to place the hypocrisy label on another human James.
I believe that legalized gambling harms this country more than it helps it, yet I love to go to Vegas and take my chances. Does that make me a hyprocite?
And man, how do you figure you have the right to declare another man a hyprocite? That is up to God..... you have no idea what is in another mans heart. His actions and his speech may seem at odds to some of us.... but unless we know that is in the heart we shouldn't judge.
I am not an Evangelical Christian.... that is not why I am posting here.
All I'm saying is that we shouldn't use the word hyprocite towards another person..... since we cannot see in to that persons heart we dont' know what his confilcts or true feelings are.
