M80s in red ant hills.We used to have a hell of a time lighting magnesium strips. You'd get a brilliant white burn. Where was thermite when i was a kid
We used to also cut the heads off of wooden matches and pack them into a tennis ball, add a wick(out of our model rockets) and throw them at each other. It doesn't take youtube to make kids do stupid things and it also doesn't mean we were stupid. I'd say unsupervised and adventurous, but not stupid.
Oh yeah and a model rocket engine stuck upside down in a mud pit makes an incredible craterman the things we did as kids
