Mini Coopers...cool or not

My hag recently got a mini-cooper after she passed her road test. I was kind of turned off by them at first but then I got to drive it and it was really fun compared to my 93 Sentra. I know nothing about cars so... my opinion is probably worth less than nothing...

but...

Don't plan on hauling around a lot of stuff though. When buying things for the weeklong party my friend and I held at her house while her parents were away, we had a hell of a time fitting all the beer, liquor and food in it, even with only the two of us in it. Fitting the 12 garbage bags full of empty beer bottles and cans into it and driving it to the dumpsters was quite the task too.

That's what I have, the Cooper S... good choice... it's small on the outside but still roomy on the inside and yes, it performs well... on the down side, gas consumption jumps to from 8l to 10l/100km when you drive over 120 km/h and when you drive over 200 km/h it feels like a go cart.

I love the way they look, but I am not too keen on the space on the inside, especially, as has been noted, for luggage or baggage that one might be toting around. If I was just tooling around town, I'd love to be in one of these buggers.

if you have a long commute, just remember the ride is a bit harsh
but they are fun to drive

Although I've not had a chance to take one for a spin, I think they're great little cars. I see them driving all over town and I can't help but smile. The automotive press has been pretty positive and seems to be doing well. I say go for it. It would certainly be a whole lot more fun than the usual, run of the mill commuter car. If you get one, you better post pics!

I think they are cool but I would only have the Mini Cooper S and they are as expensive as all get out in Australia. I have driven one twice and they are fun to drive.

Not all Asian cars are banal. I would have a dressed up (mags, spoiler, antenna etc ) 4 door black Mazda 3 with tinted windows any day - they look sexy.

I don't know how either car would rate on Top Gear coolness board.

I have the same oppinion about Mini-Coopers that I have about the VW (New) Beetle: You don't need a gay pride sticker, 'cause you're basically driving one.

Personally, I'm not one for pride stickers, but that's just my oppinion.

On a more related note, I love my 2003 Jetta, but hate the redesign they did for '05 on.

My best friend loved his Mini. He loved everything about it including the process of being able to order one exactly the way that you want it. They are very well designed cars. He loved all the little details in the design.

I've been in the old version before, and the dashboard was sparse. These new-uns are prolly more equiped, and yes, I admit to admiring the chrome glittering versions. I think the colour is important, and I'd love something sky blue...

It does not have to be a truck. But I'd vote for a masculine looking car

I always see them at the dealer when I take my bimmer to get serviced. It's a really cute, small car. I'll bet it's really good on gas too. I have a 2001 740i and it just guzzeles gas away like no other. I wanted a Mini so bad when I saw the movie The Italian Job.

The interior styling is impressive. I'm just not keen on having to drive any car that requires premium grade fuel.

But if you have the money and you really think you like them, you can't go wrong getting one. They also retain their value better than average.

And I don't think they look "gay" at all. Just watch the Italian Job and tell me those dudes look gay.

Coopers are cool but have you considered the new MazdaSpeed 3? Small, but not too small, very hip and wicked fast. Check out Car & Driver's November Issue on stands now for a complete review of it. I just finished reading it a couple of days ago and was very impressed. But ulitmately it's your decision so buy what you like....not what someone else deems cool.
