NEW YORK (AP) - The reigning Miss California has gone to Washington to help launch a campaign opposing same-sex marriage.
Carrie Prejean told NBC's "Today" show Thursday that she'll be working with the National Organization for Marriage to "protect traditional marriages."
The 21-year-old says that marriage is "something that is very dear to my heart" and she's in Washington to help save it. She says many people have thanked her for standing up for traditional marriage. Prejean was named the first runner-up to Miss North Carolina in the Miss USA pageant April 19. Her response to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton's question about legalizing same-sex marriage may have cost her the title.

*Sigh* I could use this space to launch into a tirade of expletives, but what's the point, really.
Miss Thang feels that it's 'near and dear' to her heart that marriage should only be between a man and a woman. That's certainly her right, and by golly -here's a thought, honey - when you get married be sure to check for a penis beforehand.
But. What IS it about these people that make them think it's OK to force their opinions on the rest of us ? I'm so tired of the 'defending marriage' line. Defending marriage from WHAT, exactly ?
I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but it gets SO damned frustrating. I'm fairly certain that even if I were a str8 man, I'd have this common sense. If it's not for you, don't be a part of it. But, don't get up on your moral high horse and tell the rest of us what we should be doing and how we should be behaving
