Attention Modern life is rubbish

I am so torn. On one hand we ignore so much 'technology' and refuse to always have the latest.

On the other hand, my work demands that we are always actually ahead of the curve so our hardware and software are always to the minute.

We do have a food processor and a microwave which we hide in a cupboard but don't have a dishwasher or or kitchen machinery. We are driving a 10 year old Pilot because we don't want a whole bunch of electronic shit and screens.

We just got Roku and Netflix this year. And had a landline up to last year. My cellphone has no texting or data.

We are the classic end-of-times boomers.

I salute you, sir.

Lately I've had to suck it up and get more gadgets. It became necessary for me to get a smartphone in order to maintain my public assistance benefits as well as paying for subway fare. I have yet to make a call on it.

My neighborhood has become intolerably noisy. It's gotten so bad I can't listen to music or watch TV or read so I got some noise cancelling headphones. My friend included me in his Apple Music family plan when he saw I got the headphones. I actually thought I could dump a bunch of mp3s into the phone but nobody makes any money if I do that so I use the Apple Music when necessary. The sound quality is inferior. The app crashes at least once a day, and their discographies are frequently incomplete. Still, I was pleasantly surprised that they have a good amount of some of the obscure artists I like.

Now I have to get Apple TV or a Roku or something so I can hear my TV through the headphones when it's noisy outside.

I possibly have the least amount of tech possible! I have no microwave, no food processor, no dishwasher, no deep freeze, no in door water or ice dispenser, no clothes dryer. I do have a smart phone now but no data plan and pay as I go so no unlimited! I have a couple game consoles but one I use mainly as a cable box for doing some streaming of Hulu (mainly because my mom religiously watches General Hospital and we can no longer record on a VCR) Disney plus (im a disney gay) and netflix, but I mean those are the extents of my tech use I still do banking via passbook and damn it I still write checks! My music is mostly on cds but I have digitized it and have a memory card in my phone with over 2000 songs on it, I need no streaming for music why should I pay per month when I can buy once have a cd and play it for the life of the cd? Furthermore Digitizing it I might never even have to buy it again and just play the mp3! I have no ring door bell, no alexa, cortana, siri et all voice assistant, no smart lights, no smart thermostat no cable still use a digital antenna for over the air tv! I'm possibly the lowest rung on the tech use ladder! I don't need it intruding on my every waking second, and yes i do realize the irony of typing this out on a tablet! I'm not afraid of embracing it it is just I have a life and life style that needs bare minimum!

Ask him if you can borrow his Vegematic. He might even let you borrow his Pocket Fisherman.

I just prepared my veggies with my Vegematic and I have my Rotisserie chicken in the oven for a nice early lunch.

Just set it and forget it. :)

And now I have time to go fishing with my Pocket Fisherman. So there!

Don't forget to suck a Fisherman's Friend.

I was surprised to discover that they're actually made there. Best cough lozenges around. When I was a kid, the only flavour available was the original licorice. Now there are other flavours. The originals certainly weren't candy.

I have to tell you, that spray-on hair isn’t fooling anyone.

Welcome to the dark side my friend....
