I am so torn. On one hand we ignore so much 'technology' and refuse to always have the latest.
On the other hand, my work demands that we are always actually ahead of the curve so our hardware and software are always to the minute.
We do have a food processor and a microwave which we hide in a cupboard but don't have a dishwasher or or kitchen machinery. We are driving a 10 year old Pilot because we don't want a whole bunch of electronic shit and screens.
We just got Roku and Netflix this year. And had a landline up to last year. My cellphone has no texting or data.
We are the classic end-of-times boomers.
I salute you, sir.
Lately I've had to suck it up and get more gadgets. It became necessary for me to get a smartphone in order to maintain my public assistance benefits as well as paying for subway fare. I have yet to make a call on it.
My neighborhood has become intolerably noisy. It's gotten so bad I can't listen to music or watch TV or read so I got some noise cancelling headphones. My friend included me in his Apple Music family plan when he saw I got the headphones. I actually thought I could dump a bunch of mp3s into the phone but nobody makes any money if I do that so I use the Apple Music when necessary. The sound quality is inferior. The app crashes at least once a day, and their discographies are frequently incomplete. Still, I was pleasantly surprised that they have a good amount of some of the obscure artists I like.
Now I have to get Apple TV or a Roku or something so I can hear my TV through the headphones when it's noisy outside.
