I remember the musical was great, might see it just to see what its like, relight some memories of seeing the musical.

I may see it eventually, but it comes out the same day as the Dark Knight comes out, and nothing will get in the way of me and The Dark Knight.

As a major Broadway fan, I can tell you this:

I would sooner pull off my fingernails with a pair of pliers and then stick my hands in pickle jars than subject myself to Mamma Mia. I was dragged in to the show by a school trip to NYC early in high school. That was among the worst shows I've ever seen.

However.

The presence of Meryl Streep, and my honor as a snarky son of a bitch may force me to see this...creation. I can't tear something apart properly that I haven't seen. I just have to decide whether or not it's worth having an informed opinion, 'cause the source material just blows.

I'm eagerly awaiting the screen version. With such a great cast and fun storyline not to mention all those terrific songs, I think it's gonna be a blast !

I agree that the Broadway show was very lame, but then again, I'm not a big fan of Abba.

Many years ago I saw a musical version of Alice in Wonderland starring Meryl. She was very good and sang quite well. I'll see the movie only for her sake.

I saw the trailer before "The Happening" and that alone made the ticket price worthy.
Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth singing and dancing ABBA's songs in Greece is an offer I sincerely can't resist.

I'll be seeing it just don't know when - probably when it come out on DVD. Don't get out to the movies much. I loved the show and like ABBA alot.

Ill probably wait to see it on DVD. I never saw it on broadway but am a HUGE ABBA fan. Also, I don't think singing is allowed in theaters :(.

Mama Mia

I have been excited for months but i think its because if Meryl i she us best i really like her and the trailer is funny too.

But to the OP its Mama Mia so try and edit. Its an eye soar.

I really like Abba, but I agree that the Broadway version was lame and quite contrived. I'll wait for the DVD.

why not go to both? that's what i'll be doing.

I've never seen Momma Mia and have heard mixed word of mouth on it so I'm not really in a hurry to see the movie version. If it's something I have seen, loved, and would kill for a movie version of like Wicked or Into the Woods I would definitely go see it. But Momma Mia if I get to it I'll get to it, no big deal for me.

Haven't seen the stage version but I'm interested in seeing the movie. Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan in the movie it should be very good. The previews that I've seen of it looks very good.

I couldn't agree with you more. Took the words right out of my mouth. If it wasn't for Meryl Streep, I would've crossed this film off my list since it was greenlit. Now, when are they going to transfer 'The Light In The Piazza' on the big screen.... if that would work at all.

Re: Mamma Mia! (The Movie)

I am going to see it first thing on Friday. I'm so excited. I am a HUGE Abba fan, and I absolutely loved the stage show (saw it 3 times)...so I'll be excited to see the movie!
