Is it just me or do a lot of these finishers seem really weak and toned down? Why are they trying to keep it so clean. I wanted to see more blood.

On top of the fact that they're dull and toned down, a lot of them are alarmingly similar. I know they decided to tone it down to get a kid friendly rating, but that's hardly what the core of MK is all about. Poor.

It would have been a lot better if the game had a mature rating.

Joker's gun finisher was cool but they now use that censored version where he shoots them off screen. LAME!

Yes they did it on purpose to keep a Teen rating, I mean I don't think DC characters should be exposed to MK style violence.

Then again, that takes off pretty much the whole point of MK.

Yeah, DC's got too clean an image to the average Joe to pull of incredible violence like you might see int he comics and that's fitting for a Mortal Kombat team-up. That's too bad, seeing as it might have been almost as well done as Marvel Vs. Capcom. (But I didn't really believe it.)

i was just about to say that MK vs Marvel could've had alot more potential. Marvel vs Capcom was fucking AWESOME!!!

It's not even that per se, it's just that MK is a very violent media, so you have to be willing to have your characters be as violent and screw the M rating if you want it to be successful. Those "fatalities" and "brutalities" were just a sad joke...

that's what i mean. i don't think the game would have been as watered down with Marvel. what were thinking trying to avoid the M rating anyway? MK's always been about bloody beatdowns, not some pansy-ass slapfight with a bunch of silly comicbook "icons". God i hate DC comics!!! except Wonder Woman of course...everyone knows she's the shit!!!

has anyone read a DC comic recently, other then the DC Kids titles there pretty gorry and violent, I dont get why the game is the way it is

lol...i think i've read like 2 DC Comics in life. one was a Waverider limited series over 10 years ago. only picked it up 'cuz the cover looked really cool.!oops!

the other was sent as free gift...in a package of Marvel Comics i ordered from amazon. i dunno, i've read different synopsis of various DC comics and they just seem so hard to follow...so i don't bother.

No doubt that DC is violent--but a game where Superman is punching off someone's head or flaying them alive with his heat vision would only garner DC bad press. Whoever collaborated on this should have considered a genre OTHER than Mortal Kombat.

The Capcom (Street Fighter) crossovers with Marvel was so much better than this in ever way.

I wish they did go against Marvel instead of DC. I doubt Marvel would have cared about an M rating being attached. DC on the other hand wanted to appeal the masses and didnt like the idea of their characters being shredded to pieces so they watered the finishers down.

The reviews so far for the game have been good.

I wonder if reviews are good based on a good engine and combat system and graphics rather than it's actual fun factor.

And what was great about Marvel V. Capcom was that there's no gore, but it's still a great fighter game.

Kind of glad I skipped this one over then...

What is MK without blood, gore, and exaggerated violence? Oh, its pretty much a DC boy-scout fest mixed with PG MK characters

At least Marvel had the foresight to go with Capcom, something more compatible and their speed

Any chance at all I'd get to see Kitana decapitate Wonder Woman?

No, but surprise surprise, you get to see her kiss her on the cheek and make her erupt into tumors. That was always my favorite of her fatalities anyway. Too bad it looks so toned down in this one.

After playing MK: Armaggedon, I was really hoping for something better with the next Midway game. I'm glad I skipped on this one.

Okay as a guy who keeps his ear to the ground regarding all video gaming news here's why MK vs DC got a T rating.

1. Marvel wanted to much money to use there characters. Blame it on the success of there recent movies.

2. DC only agreed to allowing it's characters in the game as long as the game got a T rating. It did not want the game released as M rated game.

3. DC major characters are heroes and heroes dont kill people. DC was demanding on that point too.

so there you.

All in all it's a hellva game that goes back to the basic with simple combos and no more massive combination of buttons to do a simple uppercut, leg swip, jab to the gut! :)

I'm loving it!

That's exactly what we're saying: DC should have known that a game like that with MK would suck if it was T. Midway should have known that having DC characters would not outweigh their MK appeal if it was a T. And this is all because both parties should have realized that "DC characters don't kill." That's why it was all a bad idea to begin with. :P
