So is the last of the shine coming off Mitch McConnell?

He is deeply unpopular in his home state and hated across America at this stage.

It seems as though the #moscowmitch moniker has really got his goat and it shows no sign of dying away.

But will it be enough?

Because as long as the Senate is controlled by the GOP and he controls the Senate, the country will continue to slide toward corporate fascism.

Brilliant idea. Let's do it!

Why is Moscow Mitch finally going balls out in revealing his support of Putin and Russia? Does he owe them money, too? Has his campaign staff had undeclared foreign agents working hard for him, too? Does Putin have compromising intel on everyone in Washington? Or, is the Senior Senator from Kentucky just afraid of Moscow's Trojan Whore on Pennsylvania Avenue? He is not even TRYING to hide his betrayal of America. Is he this desperate, this afraid of.....fair elections? The process that landed him where he is (purportedly)? His rationale for blocking legislation to fund election security must have been scripted by his handlers: "The Trump Administration has already done much to secure the nation's elections" [URL="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mitch-mcconnell-blocks-election-security-bill/[/URL] He doesn't tell us for WHOM the Trump administration is securing our elections. It would be a more than fair question. Even he must have been struggling not to guffaw at that. My understanding is that WH staffers and Cabinet members don't dare mention election tampering, or POTUS goes ballistic. To even admit that such a thing is happening the President fears would question the legitimacy of winning a contest he lost by 3 million votes. The Senator is either lying or betraying mental pathology that does not allow him to process information. But no, Moscow Mitch and the Trojan Whore know exactly what they are doing and who they are doing it for. Of course, this turn[coat] of affairs is disheartening. On the bright side, maybe this asshole is giving us so much to work with that we can finally focus on something than our anger about Hillary.

Every time I see "Moscow Mitch" my mind tries to read it as Moscow Bitch.

^ Those are certainly some of the "biggie" IMPORTANT indices (indexes) of how well a state is doing.

Didn't they actually get rid of KentuckyCare for their state health care system? Their governor won election in 2016 partly on the promise to end that, uh, socialism. Never mind that Kentucky contributes MUCH less to the U. S. Treasury than what they get back in federal services.

As such, if they did get rid of KentuckyCare, I would assume that Kentucky is also near the bottom on the list of "bang-for-the-buck" efficiency of health care spending. The 44th and 48th place showing on the two things relevant to healthcare certainly imply this.

I would also think Kentucky ranks in the high 40s for life expectancy, too.

Guessing that West Virginia is the worst for life expectancy, though coal mining is no longer the massive employer it once was. Unfortunately, most of those jobs that went away were replaced with...NOTHING.

Kentucky's previous governor rolled out a State level portal for signing up for the expanded Medicaid and private insurance. That portal, Kynect, was considered one of the most successful rollouts. While the Federal portal, Healthcare.gov was having technical issues, Kynect was signing up 410,000 people.

When Bevins (R) entered office, he shut down the website (Kynect) and moved the program to the Federal exchange (Healthcare.gov). With the defunding of the KY program (including the paid navigators that helped to sign people up), enrollment in private plans is down about 15% from its peak of 100,000 people in 2015.

Mississippi and Texas always battle for the bottom of the list on any socioeconomic program. West Virginia has the advantage of being a largely white population which has been viewed differently that Southern states with large and impoverished minority populations.

For years, West Virginia has benefited from lots of government support...errr... "investment" dating back to the days when Sen Robert Byrd (D) was the Senate Majority Leader or Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee. As a significant beneficiary of government largess, West Virginia has avoided the "worst" position for many years. If you look at the poverty stats, Kentucky and West Virginia are very similar, percentage-wise.

Russians... always Russians.

A Kremlin-Linked Firm Invested Millions in Kentucky. Were They After More Than Money? [Time]
Last summer, it looked like things were finally about to change for Ashland, Ky. For two decades, the jobs that once supported this Appalachian outpost of 20,000 people on a bend in the Ohio River have been disappearing...

...After months of searching, the only option was problematic. Rusal, the Russian aluminum giant, was tailor-made to join forces on the project. But it was under sanctions imposed by the U.S. Treasury Department. Its billionaire owner, Oleg Deripaska, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s, was being investigated by special counsel Robert Mueller for his potential involvement in the effort to swing the 2016 presidential election. The Treasury sanctions—punishment for the Kremlin’s “malign activities” around the world, including “attempting to subvert Western democracies”—made it illegal for Americans to do business with Rusal or its boss...

To free itself from sanctions, Rusal fielded a team of high-paid lobbyists for an intense, months-long effort in Washington. One of the targets was Kentucky’s own Mitch McConnell, the Senate majority leader, who helped thwart a bipartisan push to keep the sanctions in place. Since May, two of McConnell’s former staffers have lobbied Congress on behalf of Braidy, according to filings. Ahead of the 2018 midterm elections, one of Rusal’s longtime major shareholders, Len Blavatnik, contributed more than $1 million through his companies to a GOP campaign fund tied to McConnell.

There's no question that McConnell is owned by Deripaska.

I was wondering how he broke a shoulder and didn't have surgery.

Seems he has... it was just a week after the fall.

Mitch McConnell recovering from surgery [Politico]
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is recovering from surgery after fracturing his shoulder earlier this month.

David Popp, McConnell’s communications director, said in a statement that the Kentucky Republican had surgery Thursday in Louisville, Ky.

“The surgery was performed without incident, and the Leader is grateful to the surgical team for their skill,” Popp said.

^ I broke my shoulder and didn't have surgery. I was put in a sling for about 2 months and it healed itself. They couldn't do surgery on it.

Was it a clavicle fracture? For those, they do often just put a splint or a figure-8 strap until it heals on its own.

For a lot of older people who faceplant and land on their shoulder, they often either break the head of the humerus (the arm bone that is the "ball") or shatter the glenoid ("socket") and those often require plates and pins. I suspect that's what McConnell had from the description that he tripped on his patio.

Neither is much fun and everyone that I know who had a shoulder fracture complained of pain for months afterward.

^ I don't remember the doctor ever telling me which part it was. I just assumed it was the ball. My hip and wrist were both plated and pinned, but they couldn't perform surgery on my shoulder. Neither could they splint it. They just put me in a rather restraining sling. My wrist was splinted and put in a cast, though.

Still, if McConnell isn't in a sling now, I would be very suspicious. You can't believe the pain that even the smallest movement causes. I was up and walking on my hip the next day, and I could use my right hand and fingers after a week or so, but it was a long time before I could move my arm without grimacing.

his is the guy who said we don't need any additional protections against Russian hackers, because the White House is already doing enough......Holy Fuck, Bat Man! These cocksuckers are letting their Russian owners fucking us up the ass in broad daylight. How stupid are we? Pretty stupid I am guessing. No one's saying anything. Moscow Mitch and Dnieper Donald......both recipients of muchas Rubles.

I'm still not convinced there ever was an "accident." The look on his face as the shouts of "Moscow Mitch," drove him from the stage were telling.
