Sincere thanks to all for the advice.
I know you're in Canada, but does your city or town have laws against keeping junk out and visible (like in a front yard, for example) like that? Here in the states, it depends on the individual city or town - most small towns are quite laissez faire about such things, while your more urban and suburban cities and town do have code enforcement laws against keeping such things as useless old tires, or undriveable junker cars out on your property. And if the cities don't get you, the local homeowners' association your house is located in will.
Basil is the ideal plant with an aroma that provides protection against mosquitoes...should be placed next to windows, and doors. Basil lasts the full Summer, and is cheap to buy.
A clove, or two of raw garlic eaten daily..with food...is highly effective keeping mosquitoes at a distance..consume in the evening, for maximum benefit...garlic is also a powerful medicine for those with high blood pressure, and tachycardia.
Over the past few days, with the cray amount of rainfall we've had, word on the street is that this year's mosquito season is going to be the worse in years, if not decades. I'm getting eaten alive at work - I saw mosquitoes that were the size of a small green pea. Seriously.
One thing I'm hearing is eat a ton of jalapenos and garlic - they don't like either. Is there anything else I could either get or do, to help combat these hellspawn? Off spray is kinda iffy - sometimes it works, and other times, the mosquitoes simply don't give a fuck and come after me, anyway, pest repellent be damned.
These damn mosquitoes are mistaking me for an In & Out Burger, and it's getting more than a little irritating. Not to mention itchy.
I was just in LA for an extended period and didn't see one mosquito---do you even have them out there....it's so freaking dry.Mosquitos don't bite me. It's been like... at least 30 years since I've had a mosquito bite.
So... be more like me.

I dunno if you get in in the US but Marmite is a good mosquito repellant, apparently
