it will be one hundred days tomorrow that the Republicans took control of the house of reps and as to date, not ONE jobs bill has been introduced written or debated there.

This is becoming a joke. It has become obvious that they lied, and have no intention of trying to help create jobs. Why would they?

They don't want the nation to get to 8 % unemployment down because it may make the president inadvertently look good.

Fuck all 3000 million of us just to make sure the republican pres nominee has a talking point in the upcoming elections.

Pathetic. I hope that the dems in Boehner's district do everything they can to support the teaparty effort to unseat him in the 2012 primaries.

Becoming a joke?? It has always been a joke. They have no intentions of creating jobs, just using that as part of their mantra that says "tax cuts to the wealthy create jobs". Everyone now knows that a lie. Republicans have orchestrated the biggest redistribution of wealth in the history of the nation and the beat goes on. Now, in order to pay for their tax cut extension to the rich, the average person is being asked to "sacrifice". Look at Ryan's plan. You will see NOTHING in there about "shared sacrifice". It's alll about taking from the poor and giving to the rich. Class warfare has become a fundamental bedrock of the GOP.

what aspect of Republican ideology led you to think that they'd be passing legislation to hand out money and create jobs out of thin air?

the GOP would argue that things like repealing Obamacare and limiting the size of the federal government are spurring private industry to create jobs.

there is proof that those innitiatives will cost one million jobs.

As for handing out cash, they didn't have a problem handing it over to the banks. May I remind you that the first bailout was of republican making. Now there are a host of things they can do to spur job growth that have nothing to do with giving cash to anyone.

They said they knew how to do that.

Where is that legislation?

Everyone knew jobs was just a talking point and the Republicans didn't have any plans on creating jobs for the middle class. Their intent is to get in office no matter what it takes, then go about their usual agenda. Tax cuts for the rich and making them richer, deregulation, corporate welfare, union busting, class warfare, removal of protections, pandering to the NRA and Christian right wing. No matter what they claim, that's what they're going to do. Remember that next election.

if one ascribes to voodoo economics, didn't extending the Bush tax cuts also save/create jobs?

that didn't do shit for the economy. Obama stated in his speech yesterday that he was forced to go along with it to get other things accomplished, but this time he would veto it.

That means there will be taxes going up on the rich and the poor alike unless the republicans write a bill giving cuts to the poor and middle class and NOT the poor.

Republicans are still trying to sell their idea that cutting taxes for billionaires is the answer. The Bush tax cuts is part of what collapsed the economy, and the Republicans held Obama hostage like he mentioned.

There is too much wealth concentrated in the hands of too few people already. The USA is turning into Brazil.

I'll second your emotion, BostonPirate!
I've been out of work for 20 months now. All this blather about putting people back to work by giving the corporations and the top 2% earners tax breaks has already been proven to be pure bullshit! The millionaires and billionaires reported HIGHER incomes in 2010, while us poor middle-class schmucks reported LOWER incomes.
There is constant babble about the "crumbling infrastructure" in our country and it needs to get fixed. The tax breaks were supposed to encourage the private side to get busy - They got busy all right; watching things disintigrate while they laughed all the way to the bank with their million-dollar paydays and bonuses. Why?
Because it is government agencies that maintain the infrastructure! Any politician who claims government does not create jobs doesn't know his proverbial ass from a hole in the ground! I'm a Civil Engineer and I'm STILL waiting for those projects to get funded.

That's my rant on that!

Obama has never come out and said what poor is. The poverty level sure but wouldn't it be nice to hear some statistics from him. "Just to be clear (Obama likes those words to preface something he says) by poor we mean (give statistic)....."

"All others above that level will see (name tax increase)....etc"

Obama is good at prefacing what he says but not so good at packaging statistics or hard numbers in the body of what he says.

how is this different from any other president or congressman?

Maybe I'm not following what you mean. Are you saying he needs to tell us exactly what poor means, as president? Do you want him to define it as an income bracket when he makes speeches?

" the Poor, those earning between 0 to 20 K per annum, need america's help"

is that the kind of comment you think is missing? I believe he has stated that theres a difference between a living wage and a minimum wage, but in a recession you can't raise the minimum wage.

Just a reality check on that.

Now he can't lower the minimum wage either, as that would further re assort the wealth up the tree and make people work more for less, which menas they buy less which means there are less factory jobs... etc etc....

so I am not sure what you are saying is missing or what you are expecting.

I hate to break it to you economic pinheads, but the truth is: politicians don't directly create jobs. Even though they ALL say they can. If wealth could be created by putting everyone on the payroll then the richest country in the world would be North Korea.

you are incorrect in ways I doubt you could understand.

Thanks for that completely unsubstantiated opinion, though. Keeps certain ideologies in perspective...|

Wrong: please see Franklin D. Roosevelt administration - 1932 to 1945. Hyperlink CCC and WPA for starters.

Pathetic.
Since when are jobs supposed to be created by bills passed by the House of Representatives?

when they promise to do so to get in office.

Who exactly do you think writes legislation if not the legislators?

Oviously, if you eliminate Planned Parenthood, this will result in a lot more unplanned pregnancies, cervical cancers, and STDs.

That will create a lot of jobs in the health care industry, providing abortions and treatment for these people.

This is a great plan!

Once upon a time, I remember my dad cursing Democrats as a bunch of mystics.

But the Republicans in the House have outdone them: they act in sheer enthusiasm for a concept, believing that somehow if they keep getting rid of government, everything will become an economic paradise.

If the richest four hundred households had as much net worth as the bottom four hundred thousand, it might work. If the richest four hundred had as much wealth as the bottom four million, it's remotely conceivable that it might work. But since the top four hundred have more wealth than the combined bottom forty million -- about as much chance as growing tropical orchids on the polar ice.
