I wonder if someone like René Fleming would get 1 percent of this attention. And, she can truly sing.

LMAO I've heard of her and seen her perform! It almost seems like Strauss wrote "Four Last Songs" for her despite him being dead before she was born.

I'll single out Taylor Swift. Her range is limited at best and if the she wasn't a blonde bombshell, nobody would care about her at all.

Maxpowr9; I couldn't agree more on Taylor Swift. Don't get me wrong, when I first heard her I liked it. But then I heard more and realized how all her songs sound the same. And they all have a whine to them. I can't stand her.

Nicki Minaj...I just can't stand this woman and also I'm getting so sick of Lady Gaga and everything that she's done to got the attentions..geez, can this woman being normal for a while?

how can you say gaga has no talent lol

i'm not even a fan of her 90s le bouche style of music, but you can't deny good vocals when you hear hem. she's a very talented singer, it's just a shame she doesn't release a track that doesnt rape over her voice.

we haven't really had a trash pop singer who can actually sing to her songs as good or even better than their album for a long time. i can understand people not liking the tone of her singing voice and stuff, just how i dislike several singers' styles, but i don't necessarily jump to the conclusion that they're talentless. there's christina aguilera, whitney houston... never liked their style of singing, but they both have very powerful voices and i'm not going to deny their talent due to a petty bias.

The Beebs.... his voice is soooo fuckin whiny.

I woke up this morning and flipped on the today show. Unbeknownst to me that the little shit was gonna croon out songs to screaming prepubescent girls this morning. I dosed and woke to his irritating voice....

What a shitty start to a day

:-({|=

Coldplay - The same songs over and over again, did the lead singer get married and have a kid already. Why the hell is he still whining about love?

Mariah Carey - The problem with her is she used to be a singer. She now relies ons skank tactics and her music is indecernable to the hundreds of similar and like artists out there.

Justin Timberlake - Just an image, he sells music by looking cute and trying hard to be sexy. He's moved on to movies where once again, his image is all there is. He is a hologram with no substance to him.

Lady Gaga - Her music started out fine but then she started using shock tactics to sell her music. The "meatsuit", your music is empty when you have to pull stunts like this to get it to sell, the whole egg thing was silly too.

Justin Bieber - I don't get the appeal. The voice is grating with the same song over and over. Not to mention collaborations with desperate performers looking to ride the gravy train to fame.

Maroon 5 - They started out fine I guess but they are everywhere and annoying. I dislike that Moves Like Jagger song. Adam Levine is gross looking too, "drug junkie chic isn't sexy". Not to mention the endless PR to sell this guy as a sex image... eww!

Nickelback - Everytime I see or hear their music, I cringe. That guy sings in the same voice every time, can you imagine calling him up on the phone and he sounded like that.

Modern Rap - Old school rap used to be about positive messages, then it got tainted and split apart to many variations. Most of it is bitching about being the downtrodden, the other end of the spectrum is those rappers boasting about how legit and criminal they really are, when infact they are or in most cases, not. The music tends to be annoying and often heavily borrowed from other places. Lame... that's not talent, that's called lazy. I dislike eminem not just because of the gay crap or the women issues, but in general his music provides means of preaching intolerance and stupidity.

Modern Country Music - The music is crap, its not even country anymore, its some weird amalgam of pop, rock, rap, etc. It sounds ridiculous, I dislike Shania Twain for this.

I think music in general has pretty much hit a brick wall, everything that could be said about love, hate, heartbreak, freedom, oppression, unity, etc has already been said. Its just dressed up differently for the party everytime we hear it.
I like listening to orchestral or instrumental music, because it can mean or be anything you want it to be. The interpretation is yours and yours alone. Sure, modern music has that too. The above performers I have mentioned lack the quality of humility. This is of course all just my opinion on the matter.

Drake
Lil Wayne
Nicki Minaj
Justin Beiber
I don't "hate" Lady Gaga; I actually like most of her songs, but I just don't get why this weirdo has become such a sensation.

First:

Gaga has more talent that 95% of the female pop artists in the game right now.

Mariah is a legend and an icon.

Adele is boring as hell, but the big girl has talent.

But, to answer the question this thread asks:

Britney Spears (can't sing, can't dance anymore, just complete and utterly mediocre. She's an absolute joke)

Ke$ha (looks and sounds like she climbed out of the dumpster of the local trailer park)

Justin Bieber (his voice is grating and his cocky attitude is nauseating. He won't be around in another year or two once his core fan base grows boobs)

Katy Perry (talk about someone who has no core identity and does what she thinks she needs to get a hit)

I already said everything SC said, except I actually added counterpoints and examples.

So... yeah.

You missed the point.

There is a difference between opinion and preference. My problem is people trying to argue preference, not opinion. I thought I made that clear.

I thought it was perfectly clear; additionally, I agree 100%.

Rap many rap songs are great poetry but most Rap singers could not sing there way out of a paper bag

I have to say I do not understand Bob Dylan's enduring popularity. His voice is just horrible. Horrible horrible. His songs, though well written lyric wise, are not good songs. I just do not get Dylan.

The Rolling Stones, there's another band who's popularity I never understood. I love their music, but prefer other bands covering it. I love their song writing. Sympathy for the devil is a great song.

Yes, they do have great guitarists. But I just really dislike Mick Jagger's voice.

^^ I think what he means is rappers don't actually "sing" their songs(which actually requires musical talent), they pretty much just talk over music.

Justin Bieber. Enough said. He looks like my lesbian cousin by the way.
