Muslim Scholar's Fatwa Condemns Terrorism

I have to dig through fatwas and travel to Muslim countries to educate myself about Muslims' feelings about terrorism? That kind of proves my point.

^You need to stop being brainwashed by whatever you see on the TV. That's your problem.

Living in a country with Muslims as the majority, I must say that although many Muslim countries are perceived as countries full of terrorism, lots of the Muslims detest terrorism and view those who support and/or take part in it as heretics. They say it's just not the way of Muslim, the same as the OP. Moreover, they highlight that any quotations from the Qur'an in order to support the actions proves misinterpretations and misunderstandings towards the Qur'an itself and furthermoreis considered heresy .

My friend (who is a Muslim) once said, "Just because the Qur'an mentioned the story of justified killings doesn't mean terrorism is justified---both of these have different meanings. Sadly, the stories are often misinterpreted to justify terrorism and that scratches more the insult towards the religion and the one who don't support terrorism."

No, I don't have a problem. Muslims have an image problem, and have done a totally inadequate job of improving it.

It's not incumbent on outsiders to "educate" ourselves about you. You're the ones with something to prove to the world.

No. They're called books. Read them.

You don't have to travel, but you have to understand the world through different filters than just Faux news and the propaganda machines of the willfully ignorant and cynical.

I can guarantee that most people have no idea of the historical basis of Islam or its tenets. You don't have to wade through Fatwas for that. You just have to learn something.

You are only proving the point about the nature and dangers of ignorance.

I don't watch Fox News. I hate that station and have gone on record saying that on this forum.

Actions, seen nightly on the news, speak louder than words written in books (BTW, what is the literacy rate among Muslims? According to this article it's only 53%). I am not dangerous nor ignorant, segments of the Muslim faith are. They're the ones killing and torturing people (including their own) in the name of Islam, not me.

Muslims outside the violent extreme have condoned this, or haven't done the minimum one could reasonably expect to combat it. Terrorists couldn't exist without funding and tactical and moral support from other Muslims. The U.S. military speaks of trying to "win hearts and minds", when it should be Muslim leaders doing that. They're the only ones who can, IMO.

Maybe you should address that and call on the Muslim world to clean up its own house before you go pointing fingers and slinging insults at me?
