Muslim terror across Europe

I guess...

Yemen's central government keep being in power.
Saudi Arabia keeps their status quo.
The USA has a little less terrorists to worry about.

Hopefully Europe has a little less, too, though the kind being perpetrated there is not so easily dealt with.

Personally, I'd make it a major crime to conduct any 'court' not belonging to the judicial system, that dared to impose more than restitution and operate arbitration and reconciliation programs, just for starters.

it's sad to see gay men who have to fight for basic human rights because of awful and usually untrue stereotypes use other awful and usually untrue stereotypes to hate another group of people...

Way to go guys... :=D:

Think we can sink any lower?

It's so sad to see gay men who don't realize that if CONSERVATIVE Judeo-Christian and MAINSTREAM Muslim leaders have their way... we'll all be dead. Maybe stoned, maybe burned, maybe just "disappeared..."

It is us versus them. I hope their rank-and-file people can be persuaded that we are not harmful and we have a right to happy lives that take a course of our choosing. But their leaders have a lot of influence over them, and we must be prepared for the possibility that peaceful reconciliation of our values and theirs is not possible. Remember, their religion says women are baby factories with no rights, so they're a lot more fecund than us. Disproportionate power, wealth and status may be our only defenses.

So basically you concede that there is a problem with Islamic terror in Europe that seeks to force all Muslims to become militant and support their violence against their host countries.

Yeah extremism is a problem .... how you going to solve it.. passing a burka ban and calling it a day?

No, No, corny.

I know that there are many liberal Muslims in Europe; Turkey is in fact a secular country.

But the thing is, it is not they who're wielding the power. Like their Christian contemporaries in the US, it is the fundamentalists who're the warriors—and the fundamentalists who stand as the ones we must all fear.

Turkey has more power in the world arena than Al Qaeda: Fact.

O God. where do you pick shit up like this from... mainstream Muslims wants gays dead?? .

Mainstream muslims are busy working their butts of to provide for their families to give two shits about homosexuality.. Homosexuality has been practiced throughout the Middle East and Islamic cultures throughout history. Also, Transexuals have been a visible part of many Islamic cultures for centuries such as in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh. Is King Abdallah of Jordan not considered a mainstream Muslim leader.. why does Jordan not sentence gays to death then?? What about in Indonesia, where 20% of the worlds Muslims live?? Why is a gay man openly running for office in Pakistan??

In Britain? I don't think so.

That's a moronic answer.

If you're gay in Britain, is that different than being gay in America?
If you get beat up in Britain, is that different than getting beat up in America?
If people insult you in Britain, is that different than people insulting you in America?

Abdallah is a secular leader. The clerical leaders, yes, the mainstream ones, formally or by silent assent, like their conservative judeo-christian counterparts, want us dead as the old scriptures insist.

Go ahead, keep defending your people. But I'm totally not convinced. If I met a Muslim and found him or her a nice person to know, I wouln't exclude them from my life just because of their faith. But as a category, I distrust Muslims and indeed everyone with strongly held religious beliefs.

While there are admittedly liberal Muslim churches, they're impotent in European politics. It's the extremists who have all the power.

That's because the multiculti left ignores liberal muslims altogether. When the left wants to negotiate with "the muslim community" they always seek out the holier-than-Allah hardliners with the thick accents, in order to boost their multiculti factor.

Never mind that many muslims can't relate to those hardliners, the islamosocialists think they should.

do you also believe that everybody in the middle east runs around with an american flag to burn? coincidentally especially when cameras are around.

No, not in the middle east perhaps, but many in Europe. Look at these pics I found on a middle eastern bodybuilding website:

http://www.arabmuscle.net/Syria/Syria frame.htm

I remember American friends in Europe telling my mother how often they were insulted and ridiculed by Moroccan immigrants the first weeks after 9/11. Other Americans who were in Morocco itself at the time, found it hard to believe.

You see, there is quite a difference between the moderate muslims in many countries and the radical peasants that left those places for tacky European suburbs.

But as a category, I distrust Muslims and indeed everyone with strongly held religious beliefs.

Seems to me that's a lot like the Islamists do -- painting with a broad brush to categorize people as enemies. It's hardly on the same level, but ignores one thing: there are not merely individuals "with strongly held religious beliefs", but actually religions/churches which agree with the common tee-shirt that declares "God made me gay".

I don't expect that point would do anything but enrage the Islamists who prey on their own people. But in dealing with the internal terror among Europe's immigrants, it's an asset that shouldn't be ignored.

yeah, this might be more true. but what you see in the news is usually something like "us soldiers killed, flag burning and party in the streets of basra" and enough people believing it.

I believe you lost track of the argument. But following your twist of it - for example it is a huge difference in being christian in Europe and in the US.

@Corny:

Here's the face of fundamentalism:

I submit to you that fundamentalism, in all of its flavors, is the most insidious force on the planet, the single biggest threat to our democracies.

And fundamentalism is the same, whether it be Christian, Islam, or the tiny Jewish fundamentalist sects.

They're all bad.

Now, then:

I believe you lost track of the argument. But following your twist of it - for example it is a huge difference in being christian in Europe and in the US.

The argument was what Johann said above: "fundamentalism is the same" regardless of location. If you're getting beaten till you can hardly walk for beating off, it doesn't matter if your father is an American 'evangelical' or a Muslim 'imam'.

The argument was what Johann said above: "fundamentalism is the same"

no, that was what he tried to make out of it. my reply was about how "reality" in britain is in the eyes of some one person who has e-mailed him, and thus this became his reality.

How did this get to be about what Muslims are or aren't supposed to like?

Muslims in Europe are applying terror to make people conform to their narrow ideas of what people should be -- especially women and girls (and gays).

Why aren't they being arrested and prosecuted? At the very least, where's the outcry against this extreme form of bullying?

Because it has become fashionable among the glitteratti to embrace those who would slit your throat if you disagree with their narrow view of life and liberty. Kind of like some of the posts on here sometimes.

The gist of your post is that because gay people exist in Muslim countries, Islam is gay friendly.

This is like saying that because women exist in Saudi Arabia, it's a feminist country.

Doesn't sound like any Muslims I know.

Anyone with a strongly held religious belief could theoretically do something irrational and dangerous at any time.
