He didn't out you to EVERYONE, but only to those of your mutual friends that had a right to know. He was acting in what he thought was your best interest and that's what friends do. In fact, he got it right, didn't he?

Why "come out" to anyone? Whatever happens sexually between two persons is personal and private; IMHO it ought always to be kept personal and private. The general public and your acquaintances are entitled to what they can see; let them draw their own conclusions.
