My friend outed me to EVERYONE!

That has happened to me several times. I guess I really didn't mind since it turned out ok every time. Luckily I work for my family now and I'm out so no one gives me a problem.

He didn't out you to EVERYONE, but only to those of your mutual friends that had a right to know. He was acting in what he thought was your best interest and that's what friends do. In fact, he got it right, didn't he?

I think what he did was perfectly normal and acceptable.

Meh. Stop being so dramatic.

So you didn't tell him not to tell anyone and assumed he could read your mind. He didn't "take" anything from you, give me a break. Queers think their sexuality is some huge ordeal everyone else lives their life to find out. Get over it, we are finally getting to a point in society where it really ain't no big deal.

That's easy for you to say, but some people do reside in situations where they personal safety can and will be compromised by being outed. Yeah, it's getting there, but it's not there everywhere so it is wise to be on a "need-to-know" basis in most situations.

Nobody has "a right" to know. The OP has a right to tell who he wants and to expect that it will go no further.

It wasn't in the OP's best interest as he wanted to do it himself.

I think what he did was a betrayal of trust and it seem he realises this now.

I didnt not expect him to read my mind, but its a thing that i would believe he would of kept to himself. Like if his GF and him had a HUGE problem and he told me about it, i wouldnt go around telling everyone, because ITS HIS BUSINESS not mine. I wouldnt go around telling anyone somebody elses personal information because he never said hey dont tell any one. Its just who i am.

Sometimes our straight friends don't realize what a big deal it is to come out.

They've never even contemplated it.

I say give him a pass. He's more concerned with staying friends with you.. that's a good thing.. friends are always good to have.

Why "come out" to anyone? Whatever happens sexually between two persons is personal and private; IMHO it ought always to be kept personal and private. The general public and your acquaintances are entitled to what they can see; let them draw their own conclusions.

Who you have sex with is of great importance in all this. With casual or semi-casual sex you have to expect the details will travel through whatever circles you are in. But, if you have bonded with someone in friendship and love before you ever go to bed with each other, the sex that happens will come very naturally and will seem right. Such sex confirms the bond that has already come to exist between two persons, gets better with each re-confirmation, and beats in intensity anything that casual sex offers.

Sex ought to be pure joy and the wise person avoids those things which tend to make it a hassle.

Um... Straight people loudly flaunt their sexual orientations through the streets daily. They get married and then garishly decorate their cars, parading through the streets honking their horns, waving to people passing by announcing they were "just married."

They keep pictures of their families on their desks at work, talk openly and incessantly about their wives, husbands, boyfriends, girlfriends, children... They wear wedding rings and walk through the streets holding hands.

they make SURE their sexual orientation is known by everyone they know and everyone they don't, too. Why should gay people have to hide their relationships when straight people don't?

As I've said a million times.. gay isn't something that I do. It's something that I am. Being gay isn't something that you do behind closed doors. I'm gay when I'm at the grocery store, too. My friends HAVE to know that my husband is my husband. So do my family members.

Why shouldn't they? You know your parents and brothers and sisters are married and straight, right?
