  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

My local gas price is now 1.99. What's yours?

Our fuel has dropped some in the last 5 months. Yesterday I paid $2.68 / gallon before my 30c a gallon loyalty discount.
The above price was Dec. 21. Yesterday I paid $2.67 before my 3 cent loyalty discount...apparently I need to buy more groceries in order to get a better loyalty discount.

Our Dillon's store (that is one of the Kroger brands of grocery stores) gives a 10 cent a gallon discount for every $100 spent during the month. Spend less than $100 and we get 3 cent p/gallon discount.

I don't look at the price anymore, it is 2 pence more a litre or 2 pence less, not worth worrying about.
Since the turbo stopped working, the fuel consumption has gone way down, a tank lasts forever. It does mean constant gear changing to make for for the loss of power, but thats ok. Saving money beats speed.

My local gas price went up .30 a gallon between Inauguration Day and the following Monday. $2.99 vs. 3.29 for unleaded regular.. Can't wait to see what the tariffs do on Canadian oil, I'll be able to permanently retire!

I just paid over $3. Looks like Cheeto Mussolini couldn't keep that promise either.

he doesn't need to, they didn't elect him to keep his promises, they elected him to pwn da libruls, deport the Messicans and ban Black History Month.

I'm super double triple glad I've never been a motorist now. Apart from constant impending speeding death traps flying past me at 60+mph I'd spend wayyy to much of my income on gas. How long til gas prices becomes a whole subgenre of blues and country music?

Please don’t tell me you’re an e-scooter ho

oh god no, they're all d-bags. i'm a train/uber/bus girl. being from chicago lent itsself to that, it's like new york where cars aren't considered a vital organ. i didn't think people were car-crazy til i moved to the pedestrian-unfriendly south.

So Trump is saying on Meet the Press that he has gas prices down to $1.98 in most states. It’s $3.29 here in Ohio, who has $1.98 gas?

BTW in December we were down to $2.89 under Biden.

Meanwhile Tump is just fucking lying and claiming that is is $1.98.

It was $2.87 per gallon when I bought gas last Tuesday. By the next day, it rocketed to $3.29. But today it was back down to $2.98 per gallon. I have no idea why we're seeing these wild price swings.

I second that.

I finally had to fill up recently and wished I'd done it four days earlier; the price had been $3.89 but when I pulled in it was $4.29.
What really pissed me off was that three days later it went down to $3.49!

And it's not possible any more really to do what we used to do, filling 5-gallon cans when the price was low, because thanks to GW Bush & cohorts gas goes bad sitting in a container. Sure, non-ethanol is fine with a stabilizer, but non-e is going at $4.89, more than a dollar a gallon higher than the regular stuff!

I hope the guys that developed a strain of yeast that can be turned into diesel at about $2.25/gal get it on the market soon -- they say the exhaust will smell like rye bread or something similar, which would overcome my nausea at the smell of diesel exhaust. (The really awesome thing about the tech is that the yeast being worked with can eat cellulose, which would allow recycling of a lot of things that so far have to go to the waste site.)

Today I paid $2.72 p/gal before my 30cent p/gal rewards discount. I never buy the high ethanol version which is several cents cheaper. The "regular" unleaded still has some ethanol in it. I think there is only one place in my small'ish community to buy non-ethanol unleaded. I used to buy my lawn mower fuel there. But their pumps are old and the receipt printers usually don't work and the display is nearly impossible to read. It's fully self-service with no employes on site.

It was $4.67/gal when i drove by the gas station today. Luckily i have an electric car so i haven't gotten gas in a long time but these prices are insane. I saw a station that was charging over $5/gal yesterday
