My Mayor smokes crack............does yours.

The guy just never gives up:

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was stripped of some key mayoral powers on Friday, and he is already threatening to take the decision to court.

City council voted 39-3 in favour of limiting the mayor's ability to hire and fire his deputy mayor and comittee chairs in a bid to bring some certainty to the spiraling chaos ongoing at city hall.

Those authorities are shifted to Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly and standing committee chairs for the balance of Ford's term in office.

City council futher voted 41-2 in favour of shifting emergency management authority to the deputy mayor. Coun. John Filion made this comment in relation to the mayor, who has had several admitted "drunken stupors" during his time in office, holding any authority in a time of emergency:

We are quite fortunate that no emergencies have landed on the same dates in which the mayor's judgement may have been impaired.

Ford has shown a tendency of firing members of his executive committee who speak out against him during the ongoing substance abuse controversy.

"I have no other options than to challenge this in court," Ford said, before claiming council was wasting tax dollars by forcing the city into a legal challenge.

Brothers in arms:

Well done, Councillor Ford:

You've got to hand it to the Ford brothers. They really have an uncanny ability to undermine themselves.

On Friday, Toronto City Councillor Doug Ford took to American airwaves in defence of his brother, Rob, who earlier in the day had many of his mayoral powers removed from him.

"Rob does not come into work drunk," Doug proclaimed on CNN. "He said he's tried illicit drugs under a drunken stupor. He's not doing drugs and not drinking and so is moving in the right direction in my opinion."

What Ford may not have realized was that he had what appears to be a bottle of Grey Goose vodka on a table in the background during his defence. We've enhanced an image of the interview

Just a prediction here...............these Fords keep talking and keeping themselves in the media because they believe they can convince enough people to just let it go.......the media won't. They'll keep digging, and just keep finding more junk on these two.
People who would rather avoid the public scrutiny, may get a bit nervous. They really should shut up and disappear.

This is sad.

Rob Ford's true victims may be those closest to him

It was late at night, nearly a year ago, that Renata Ford pulled up in a taxi outside her parents’ home.

According to a police report, the contents of which have not been proven in court, the mayor’s wife was slurring her words and belligerent with the driver, police sources have told the Star. She either refused to pay the fare or did not have the money.

Their argument became so heated that the cabbie called for police assistance.

When cops arrived, they observed that Mrs. Ford had bruises and cuts to her limbs and face that appeared to be a few days old. But, when asked about it, she refused to say how the injuries had been suffered. She was, in fact, too incoherent to say much of anything — either inebriated or on drugs.
The Star obtained the incident report from this episode many months ago. The details were also confirmed with senior police sources.

Management at this paper decided not to publish a story about the matter. Editors agreed that Mrs. Ford, though the mayor’s spouse, was not someone who is in the public eye and was therefore entitled to privacy. Nobody here had any stomach for expanding the scandal engulfing Toronto’s mayor to encompass his family, thereby causing harm, particularly to the couple’s two young children.

Rob Ford gets impersonated in opening of Saturday Night Live
http://o.canada.com/news/rob-ford-saturday-night-live/

Bobby Moynihan played Toronto Mayor Rob Ford for the traditional cold opening of the Nov. 16 edition of Saturday Night Live hosted by Lady Gaga.

The sketch focused on Ford’s pattern of denials and the notion that 60 Minutes — which recently recently had to retract a report on the attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi — would be more likely to take him at face value than the CBC.

Reviews from Twitter were not particularly enthusiastic at the perfunctory portrayal, along with stereotypical Canadian accents, even if it did represent unprecedented attention on SNL for the mayor of a Canadian city.

I am heartsick for the two children. It is clear that they are trapped in a home with two co-dependent addicts with anger management problems.

People in the know that I know have said for years that they can't believe that Ford hasn't been arrested and charged for spousal battery. And that the wife is as much or more of a mess than he is.

^ Is it just me or is suing the city counter-productive to saving the taxpayers money?

Oh, and I miss the old JD. He was hot stuff in his day.

Everything the brothers did was counter productive. Thank you for the subway to no where with only three stops. But the only problem is this subway would feed the downtown line which desperately needs a relief line.

When I wait tomorrow as trains and trains go by because they are too full I will think of the mayor.

She can't, according to the criteria she chose to make up.

Ontario is in charge of the cities. They have no independent constitutional standing. She could even dissolve the cities and demolish the city halls with a simple act of the legislature. She's making up a process as she goes along, in the hopes this will magically go away on its own, when she should just PTF. Punt the fucker.

This is correct. Cities are corporations not part of the government structure and all powers, privileges and responsibilities are delegated to them by the province. That we elect our mayors democratically gives the impression that they have some legal standing but they do not. Wynne won't do anything yet because A) it would be viewed by Ford's supporters as a purely partisan move and B) she's not sure if removing him would even be a popular move. Easier to just let things go until the election and if he's not voted back in - great - if he is, then obviously Toronto liked him and axing him would have made her unpopular in a city with a lot of provincial ridings. It would also be unprecedented in Canadian history and there are probably exceedingly complicated procedures required to impeach and replace a mayor especially in such a large city. With Ontario's economy still lagging worse than almost every other province she's got bigger fish to fry.

That being said, she needs to intervene in this ridiculous Scarborough subway extension and put our tax dollars where they're needed. Relief line, a line to the airport along Eglinton and maybe the Queen street route which has been officially in the plans for 60 years now. I have no idea how we arrived at the decision to feed EVEN MORE people into the subway system without building extra infrastructure within the city itself to handle that load. Making the subway more crowded is going to discourage people from using public transit and result in more gridlock and pollution. :(

^ Rob Ford and his brother are too stupid to understand how mass transit works. They have been played and paid off by the interests that stand to make out like bandits from subway construction. Unfortunately, there will be no relief lines or improvements to the downtown infrastructure ever...it is now too difficult and impossibly costly to attempt. The only solution will be surface transit and restrictions on driving in the core of the city.

I don't think that the taxpayers of Toronto have even seen half of the dirty Ford Bros. story yet. Hopefully Lisi will sing like a bird about the extortion attempt and finally someone will put the pieces together about the thugs that got shot, or beaten up and the woman who just 'disappeared'.

If not removing him would be unpopular, Ontario has far bigger problems. At this point, containing Ford's remaining supporters is important for the integrity of not just the city but the country. People of his ilk can't be allowed to be in charge of a peanut stand, let alone our largest city.

My apologies for not knowing that Wynne is able to step in if she wanted to. I'm not politically savvy enough. I can only go by what I read, and what I read is not always the truth.

I have learnt something new.

Tonight is the night of Rob and Doug show on Sun TV. .

so to anyone who knows where this channel is on the dial enjoy.

^ Don't you have to pay extra for that station? I seem to recall reading that it was annoyed that it's a subscription station and it feels it should be made available to all customers and not just to those who are stupid enough to pay extra for it.
