WHEREAS Canada is proud to protect all of its citizens and keep them free from discrimination, including discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Toronto is a city that embraces and celebrates all of its citizens in their diversity and welcomes, values and supports the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Two Spirited and Transsexual (LGBT) community. Our city is an active participant in the fight against all forms of discrimination and is committed to equal treatment of all people and their right to live with dignity and respect.

Toronto is a beacon for LGBT people who want to live, work and play in a city that respects and celebrates them.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Mayor Rob Ford, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim May 17, 2013 as "Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia in Toronto" and encourage everyone to send a message that the LGBT community is welcomed and respected.

This guy has been charged with more serious shit over the years than he can shake off. Including domestic abuse and drug and alcohol related charges in the US and domestic assault with threat of death.

I don't think The Toronto Star does witch hunts.
They hate him but so does most of the urban population of Toronto.
The suburbs love him but not for long.
