My "quitting smoking" blog

It also seems that stopping smoking and getting better cardio workouts have lifted your spirit, too.

And that's a good thing.

Congratulations.

Did you know that the average number attempts to quit smoking before it finally stops is 7 times?

Just an interesting stat you might like to know.

(!)Good work!(!)
It's really inspiring to see such determination, self-discipline and energy!..|

I've seen alot of products advertising as substitutes for willpower, when all you really need is the WILL to stop smoking.

Once again, you set a good example, so keep it up! It should get easier in time.

It's now been 2 weeks baby! HOLLA!

That's awesome. Congrats!

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo........are you still hanging in there?

Yup. :) Today marked week number 3. I'm also going to the gym much more often.

I hope this continues to work for you, Sultan. Seriously. Every day I am more pleased with myself for quitting than the last. You will never regret quitting. You might have brief moments of temptation along the way but you'll never regret it. You'll only regret it if you go back to smoking.

Thanks. How long have you stayed quitted for?

Well it's been three days now and I haven't had one. I got over the three day hump and the cravings haven't been that bad yet but I haven't been around cigarettes for those days. I wonder how bad the cravings will get when I'm around people who smoke.
After quitting cold turkey, I found second-hand smoke to be a real turnoff. Drinking coffee, especially after a meal, gave me the hardest time.

Sorry for hijacking your tread for a moment.
I only smoke during parties/social events.
Given that I can't get addicted no matter how much I smoke.
I don't have that urge that during a 'normal' day go out and smoke. I just do when I get drunk or partytime.

However I was wondering, how _BAD_ is it for someone who does cardio and weight lifting to smoke a couple during a night.
With an interval of let say one to two months?

I mean lets say I smoke like 11 cigarettes a night and then dont smoke anything for two months then I do the same another night.
How bad is that for my cardio/training?

YAY Sultan! You made it through week THREE! (!)(!)(!)

Now that you've made it THIS far don't be a dumbass and get some stooopid idea you can have JUST ONE....... ](*,)

I know exactly how you're feeling right now......pretty damn proud of yourself.......as you should! :D ....... :=D:

To be honest I don't really get cravings anymore. When I do, they are not strong cravings. They're actually very mild, and when people smoke around me, the smell of cigarettes kind of disgusts me now which is weird because I used to love the smell if I was craving a cigarette. :)

Bad news.

Now you know one of your triggers. You just gave to figure out how to avoid that trigger again the next time it happens.

It has been 11 days today for me. Me and my partner broke up, that was stressful. I have had only two puffs off the cigarette since i quit. I am so glad I did it. I have more energy. I am more active, the only thing is that i get bored and tend to eat more. I want to loose weight that is where i am having my problems. any suggestions.

I haven't smoked since my cig a few days ago.

I haven't really noticed any weight gain since quitting either.

Who raised this thread from the grave?

Um... after a year or so of not smoking I ended up having one every now and then when I was at a bar and then it slowly became a regular habit to the point where I was smoking over a half pack a day. That went on for about five months and then I switched to electronic cigarettes that use vapor instead of smoke and I'm happy with that.

Nicotine alone is still bad for you but not nearly as bad as regular cigarettes so I'm pretty content with that and don't really have plans to quit using them.

Smoked 6 years Quit for a year. back to it for a year. Im like you I quit for the third time on January 1st (so 3 days ago) and am totally going cold turkey this time. Its not bad. I am like you in that I cant smoke in moderation like some people, I like it too much, I do a pack a day or 3 days nothing and then 20 in one long evening. Just look at esophagal cancer pictures on the web and youll have the desire to stop. Good luck with whatever you decide.
