My Weight Fighting Journey! Will you Join?

Oooh, if you're not really cultural or eat a lot of cultural foods you could try the "South Beach Diet," my friend was on it for like 3 months, and she lost like 35 lbs.

It contains a lot of "american foods" if you will: salads, chicken, fish, lots of veggies

i'm losin weight too. i'm only 5'5" and i was 200 pounds. even though i'm not fat i did have a little chubbiness to me. so, i started when i went on winter break for college and i've lost 12 pounds so far. what i need to know is those foods you can eat. like, "eat spagetti" or "eat bread before you work out" or something. all that stuff confuses me.

not that i want big muscles or anything. i think that would look strange on me because i'm kind of short. i definitely want to look tone though.

This is my 5th day of my Diet... It's been going good, I only slipped once ( my 2d Day ) and till now I'm doing good !

Happy to see you are heading in the right direction.

As for me, after skiing all day yesterday, I brought some friends home for a hot chocolate (the extra lean Lowneys). They left with all my uncooked popcorn bags, the crisps, the two almost full chocolate boxes, and a case of diet coke. All to be replaced tomorrow with more broccoli, sweet potatoes, spinach and fresh fruits.

Like you I could take a huge bite out of the rug. I think food all the time.

The daily newscast had a special about New Year's resolutions and dieting, last night. I was surprised to hear the dietitian say, if food is bothering us all the time, we should take four to five "very small" meals per day. I will try that.

She also suggest we stop a bit (3-4 minutes) after five or six fork/spoonful. That allows time for the food to reach the stomach and will make us feel full earlier."Mmmmmm" don't know about that but will give it a try.

Good luck to you all and here's hoping we all arrive at the final goal.

best of luck to you if you need and workout tips or advice I'm your guy

Yeah I need a lot of tips lol. I tried doing sit ups today, but my whole body kept going up instead of just my top half. I was like what the fuck? lol and... i know you're not supposed to do too much too soon, so how do I know how much is too much?

what you gotta do is just start off with maybe 3 sets of 10-15-20 with push ups as you get stronger add 5 to every set

with sit ups i would say to start off try 30-40 or whatever you body can and just push you take your body to the limit and add 5-10 more

and with the situps also try find something you and put your feet under to hold you in place

It depends on what you want to work out and how you want to work it out. If you are at a gym, let us know and we can better help you.

I have not been able to start because the school gym is not open again, til the seventh. uggggg, I am having withdrawals.

Antidoll... I have a little tip for you... Keep celery around if you ever feel like you really need to munch on something. Celery is a net loser, so it's always a good thing to have around if you need to have a snack at a time that you shouldn't...

This will work unless you hate celery, in which case, you can ignore my whole last paragraph.

Also, they say staying hydrated is a big thing. Sometimes people feel hungry, but they are actually a little dehydrated. Don't overdo it, but just make sure you're getting enough. Your body won't properly metabolize unless you have enough water anyway.

And endlight, the 4-6 smaller meals a day will also keep your metabolism running steadily instead of the stop and go that 2-3 meals tends to do.

I sincerely hope your diet is successful. I've had the opposite problem my entire life. I can't gain weight to save my soul! Due to lack of exercise, I've developed somewhat of a 'belly' but it's just that; no exercise.

I will join you in your quest!

For 3 years I was running 6 miles, 5 days a week, but knee problems ended that exercise two years ago and I'm getting a belly that is too convex for my liking. My goal (and new years resolution) isn't weight, it's shape, so all I can tell you is that I'll be done when I can see my abs! Sadly I still have bad knees so I'll be working a lot with diet, but I'm researching a whole bunch of fun ways to exercise.

Let's do this!

UNTIDOLL Weigt fighting journey.
Busy lifestyies make it nearly impossible for many to receive the complete array of micronutrients our bodies need to maintain optimal health. Fast food diets, obesity and extreme weight loss programs only add to the problem.
The result is a significant percentage of people do not receive the recommended daily intake of key nutrients. And research shows that even marginal deficiencies can slow down your body's ability to heal itself and fight infections.
So fighting weight is only part of your problem. Our bodies was designed to maintain optimal health given the right nutrition. 70% of the people in the US do get the nutrition they need for the body to maintain its self. ..|
Better nutrition for better living, want more information.

I have lost 15 lbs. without trying.
Good lock on your journey. :D

Thanks ambiguity. I tried the 5-6 meals and I think you're right.
Today I was in great shape and not too concerned about the diet.

I am not sure how small a meal is suggested. I took a small cup of cereal with skim milk twice, then a small bowl of homemade fruit salad. Another time, I had a bowl of soup with half a slice of wheat bread. My whole body screams "snacks "this is not a meal," I hear in my head. However, if I get hungrier, I will increase the amounts. I want to go five-six days before turfing the idea out. lol

Thanks for your comments.

The five or six meals can be (for me) something like "half a box of couscous with some turkey leftovers mixed in", a banana, an apple, yogurt and a little bit of cereal, a "superfood" type (candy)bar, a grapefruit. I'm not sure exactly what my food will be today, but it will resemble this in at least most counts.

I also generally eat my biggest meal before 2PM, and I also generally "go vegetarian by early afternoon" as well. All of this can slip off the rails when I'm traveling, though - with New Year's//Eve always being one of the most extreme examples.

After New Year's, I came back from Florida and Chicago weighing 190, ten pounds more than before starting the trip 19 days earlier. (I'm now back to 187.) I almost ALWAYS weigh more on January 2 than any other date of the year. Formerly at 225 until September 2005, 180 is what I finally first hit in March 2006, and I've rarely been more than 1 pound less or five pounds more than that since.

Good luck on your diet ANTIDOLL, and don't beat yourself up (or let anybody else beat you up) over "cheating" once in a while. As long as you don't make a habit of eating cheatfood, you'll do okay. I attribute my failure to go much below 180 (178 was my lowest in the past 22 months) more to having far too much of a liking for dark chocolate, one or even two bars a day, than my occasional cheating. I also don't think that 180 is a plateau of any kind - I've been close to that long enough that my metabolism probably no longer feels that I'm "starving" it.

Before I started this in 2005, I was known for often telling people that "I eat like a football player." (But in late 2006, even after having accustomed myself to smaller portions, I "won" an eating bet $50 with a friend in Oregon who thought his bet was entirely safe, and he had made it with a number of people prior.)

Your thread may actually help some people, who have decided to work on their weight in solidarity with you, to change and lengthen their lives.

well, I wanted to start dieting and exercising this year

but I got the flu, badly. So I will start later, although I have lost a few pounds from being too sick to think about food

all I am having is home made lentil soup

thanks!

UPDATE: today I ate one meal only all day :O :O :O !! ,,

I had general tao chicken with steamed rice... it was pretty huge though from the restau and im pretty sure it had a LOT of calories. but that's the only thing I ate all day long...

also I had some exercise last night with a guy ( if u know what I mean ;) )

and today I walked for about 30 mins =D !!!

I hope all of you are doing good in this journey ! and I think this time I'm going to actually make it because this thread is really encouraging me!!!

I wish you guys would post your updates too!!! up's and Lows !

good luck!

A word of advice... try not to do that, cause it'll do more harm than good.

Your body with think next time that it won't get fed for a while, and it will store too much of what you eat... and you'll end up gaining weight instead of losing...

^ As he said.

Eating five or six meals a day (which is advised) sounds like it's going overboard, but a "meal" can consist of something like "some grapes" or a cup of yogurt, or a can of sardines, etc.

But the walking was certainly a good thing - and the "exercise" [*clears throat*] with the other guy probably burned off some calories as well.

Ok Antidoll, my turn to get back to you.

I also am trudging on and while it's tough sometimes, I am sticking to the diet.

The good news is that I have lost two lbs. Not much but with my goal being a loss of 20 lbs its 10%. Oweeeeeeeeee!

We have had unusual weather in Ottawa, almost Spring like. So, the car stayed in the yard, and no bus to go downtown. I walked almost every day. That is 8-10 city blocks and helping, I am sure. It compensate for my not going skiing or skating on the canal. (everything is melting)

I am keeping to 5-6 snacks/meals a day. Never a full meal, i.e. soup, entre and desert. I am starting to take my biggest meal at noon. And I never eat anything past 8.00pm.

What I am finding out, i s how many times I get asked to share a meal or go to a restaurant. My friends and family think I am nuts, by the way. But for me, I just say "not thanks" and don't go into details.
We all are good cooks and take a refusal real bad, but shucks, I will not fall off the wagon.

I miss my chocolate everything, but most of all, I miss my chocolates. get the idea! A doctor bud tells me to take a small piece of 80% dark chocolate once n a while because it's good for you. He does every evening meal. But rather than do likewise, I will take a piece for every lbs I lose as a reward. How the hell I will keep the rest of the bar untouched I have no f...g idea.

I have never been on any diet and sure think its like being in hell. But I won't give up.

Cheers to you and others and know that I don't feel alone.

Since I started the day after Christmas, I've lost 17 pounds. Now I'm down to 183. It just doesn't sound healthy, does it? Usually it takes people a long time to loose a lot of weight, but I lost 17 in 3 weeks. I run 2 miles on the treadmill every day, all those crunches/push ups things, and there's a weight machine in my basement too. I run mostly and just do a little bit of the other stuff. I still eat what I want though. I had two slices of pizza for lunch yesterday and then a big *homemade* quesadilla for dinner.
