I read that one a couple months ago. I thought it was amazing. He's turning into a very good writer.

I also just read "The Children of Men" by PD James. There's a movie, now, though I think it will be quite different from the book. See trailer here.

If you want to read a good non-fiction piece, pick up the new book The Overachievers by Alexandra Robbins. It's a really great read

i just finished reading the most recent Pern book from Ann McCaffery, although her son also co-authored the book. It's my favorite series. Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time is also i think a good seires. Kate Forsyth has a good series called The Witches of Eileanan, she has a second series set in the same world called, Rhiannon's Ride. All that assumes you are into fantasy books. ;)

My two favorite books are:

1. "A Prayer for Owen Meany" by John Irving

2. "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follet

Two EXCELLENT books! I highly recommend them.

I'll chime in for the "Prayer," too. Irving at his best.

I just started reading a book by a fellow jubber. Simply Complicated by DC Morgan. I've only started but so far its good.

A couple of good non-fiction reads:

Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain -- behind the scenes at a restaurant

Bringing Down the House by Ben Mezrich -- the MIT kids who figured out how to beat the casinos. Rivetting.

And if you're interested in religion, Misquoting Jesus by Bart Ehrman explains why it makes no sense to talk about treating the Bible like the literal Word of God.

I'm reading "The Diary of Samuel Pepys". The man is a slut! And he just woke up in a pool of his own vomit after a drinking session.....

I've been working my through that for years -- I'm up to 1664 but I haven't looked at it in a long time.

I love the story of when he went to a tavern, made out with one of the wenches there, "spent" in his pants, and then went straight from there to a royal reception! Somehow they skipped that part in my Brit Lit class.

Try: Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz.

It's about a guy who was born at the exact same time that his grandfather died, in the same hospital, just after his grandfather, who'd suffered a stroke, became totally lucid and made a number of prophecies about the newborn's life. He prophesised that he would have 5 terrible days in his life, and gave specific dates, but failed to say what would happen.

The first awful day was that same day when there were multiple murders in the hospital, but the family survived.

I'm up to the part where he's right in the middle of the second of the terrible days.

So far I LOVE IT. It's written brilliantly, and has such a dark humour that it really gets me giggling like a weirdo on the metro.

Definitely worth a look.

I'm almost done reading Dispatches From The Edge by Anderson Cooper....very good book.

The new Larry Mcmurtry Book 'Telegraph Days is a good fun read. Also, anything by Adam Smith.

A cute little queer book for young teens out there is Totally Joe. It's nice to see what queer youth have available to them nowadays. Geography Club isn't stellar, but it's sequal Order of the Poison Oak is also really cute.
