New ‘Alien’ Movie Confirmed with Director Neill Blomkamp

Hopefully this will be good - Blomkamp is very good. Just worried that it might be shit, like a number of the Alien movies - I don't want the series to be ruined by having most of the films being rubbish!

I don't either. I have faith, just not letting myself get too excited. Anything can happen.

I hope Sigourney Weaver will be in it.

Hopefully some decent actress will be in it like Hetti Bywater or Courtney Kardashian.

According to insiders, the new “Alien” takes place years after the “Prometheus” sequel.

I'm really confused about this. So is this going to be the true prequel to Alien that people thought Prometheus was supposed to be? Is Prometheus spinning off both Prometheus 2 and this new Alien movie? Or by "years after" are they talking hundreds of years to put it more in the timeline of the original Alien?

And as much as I love Sigourney, I do not think she belongs in another Alien movie. Nobody can replace her. But the new movie doesn't need her nor a replacement, it just needs something new.

I have faith. Alien isolation proved there's still more you can do with the franchise without it being terrible so I can't wait to check this out!

might check this out this weekend:

The Secret Celluloid Society presents Ridley Scott's sci-fi horror classic Alien as part of our After Hours series at the Gables Cinema. This 1979 revolutionary masterpiece holds up to any modern day sci-fi film on the big screen. A commercial crew aboard a deep space towing vessel is on its way home when they pick up an unusual SOS warning signal from a distant planet.

After searching for survivors, hell is unleashed upon the ship in the form of a deadly xenomorph. Alien won 15 awards, including the 1980 Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. With Ridley Scott's masterful use of shadows, framing and sound, Alien proves to be one of the greatest horror science-fiction ever made. Tickets to this screening are $5 general admission with a free popcorn.

Yes the other movies were a load of old tripe but that one was ok. Hoping this new one has sone decent actors.

Would love to see Ben Hardy or Kristen Stewart in this one.:gogirl:

Yeah I was thinking of that terible resurrection movie and got mixed up there.

It was a poorly acted movie and I hope they can get some decent young talent for this new one.

I would love for Hetti Bywater to be in it as she did a great job during her time in EE.

So long as they abandon that Prometheus crap and get Sigourney Weaver on board I'm all for this.

Also maybe pull a Star Trek to do a timeline reboot and do away with the sequels, especially Aliens 3. >>

The original is still my favorite but willing to give this a chance depending on reviews.

I heard its a sequel to aliens....taking place right after hicks, ripley and newt escape

That's good. We might get to see newt grow up which is such a missed opportunity

This is one of my primary reasons on why I hated Alien 3. It was such a big thing when Ripley went out of her way to save Newt. Then 3 comes around and it is like "Oh, they died but here we are now." The characters were just trashed and just felt like that took a huge shit on the whole ending to Aliens which was so good.
