New York Mets 2008

A dagger in my heart

OMG Dude, I totally fucked that up. I meant to say Cards,
Seriously I would never support the Cubs, NEVER!!

Forgive me?

So you're a pitcher, not a catcher eh? :sex: ;)

I shudda known better than to say that with you around ;)

Is this a sign of the apocalypse? The Mets have won 3 in a row!!!! Let's keep it goin'!!

:badgrin: I know, last night I kept thinking
WHO ARE THESES GUYS and where have they been hiding.

So the last coupe of innings got a little scary, and Billy in the 9th got a lot scary.
Billy and his drama, I could not even sit down and watch, I kept pacing in front of the tv
yelling. NO NO, not again, this can't be happening.
Seriously, that last inning had me foaming at the mouth.

OK, so now it's on to the Giants, who should easy to beat if we keep playing well, they are not playing all that great. I can smell first place by the break,
can you?

First place would be great, however the Giants do have a couple of good pitchers in Lincecum and Sanchez, let's see if the Metties are up to the challenge. We MUST beat up on the Rockies though before the break.

I noticed a change in the Giants pitching line up, wasn't Lincecum originally supposed to play Wednesday against Santana? I was looking forward to that match up. Instead it will be Lincecum and Pelfrey tonight.
Pelf is hot now, as as Tim ,so it should be a heck of a duel.
Then Wednesday it's Sanchez and Santana
and Thursday Zito and Maine

You are right about Lincecum, he has like 10 wins I think
but I am less concerned about Sanchez, his ERA is around 4 now.
Santana should beat him.
No concern at all about has-been Zito, we should be able to own him on Thursday. But our boys better bring hot bats all three days.

Well the Mets keep on a Rollin.
Last night we beat up on future superstar pitcher Lincecum, and the Mets bats were workin again. Pelfrey was awesome! Shutting down the Giants, man is that kid on fire or what? He has been getting ahead with his mean fastball down in the zone and then putting em away with his slider. I don’t think I saw him using that 4 seamier early, but it sure works for him in the count to get ahead of the hitters. Tatis came through again, gotta love that kid.
Thanks to St Louis beaten up on the Phillies, and with the Marlins loss we are now tied for second, 1.5 out behind the Phillies.

I am sad about Ryan Church who is in the 15 day again. The poor guy can’t shake that tired feeling and migraines. His latest checkup showed nothing so I guess we will have to see how he feels next week. I am worried he might get shut down for the season; I sure hope that does not happen.
I also hope that Omar keeps his word and keeps the outfield covered from within and not doing any trades. Chavez is doing a hell-of-a job out there at right as well as with his bat.

Alou should be back soon but of course the question is for how long. I don’t want any trades now, but if push comes to shove, and the worse scenario comes with Church or Alou, about the only thing I would get my head around would be a trade to get Nady back. I always liked him and hated to see him go. But I dono what we could give the Pirates for him or if they would even be willing to let him go. Oh, and this bull crap about Bonds had better be a joke, surely the Mets would not bring that clown to the Mets. What with his knees, drama and other baggage I want no part of him. Best case for us would be a healthy return for Church and Alou. Speaking of coming back, Hernandez is on his way and maybe back soon. My question is what do we do with him. For sure he can not be a starter, not with Pelfrey on fire and Perez finally finding his grove. El Duque will have to go to the pen whether he likes it or not.
Looks like at least until Alou gets back, Nick Evens will be given a second shot. That’s good, cause I think he should be given another chance. I thought he might play first but with Delgado back on track that ain’t happening
We could use him platooning with Tatis at right till we see what happens with Alou.

Ok Santana, go get em tonight, our offense should be able to do a number on Giants pitcher Sanchez.
.

Mets won again today but we are still a game and a half out if first place behind the Phillies :grrr:
How the hell are we ever gonna get into first place when the Phillies keep winning. Like two to the Cards yesterday and today.](*,)

ABS, WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR TEAM?
I HOLD YOU RESPONCIBLE FOR THIS.(*8*)

6 in a row!!! Don't wake me up from this dream!!

No dream babe, it is really happen. :D

Everyone is hot right now, and the new guys, Tatis and A. Reyes are just making it all happen for us.
Beltron and Delgado have awoken from their coma and of course D Wright and Reyes continue to contribute big time.
I dono how much of this is due to Jerry Manuel and his crew but he sure has a way of motivating all the guys. He has a great reward system which gives the players incentive to do well. And that bull pen has never been better, everyone getting the job done.
Something is up with John Maine, he really has not been himself since Peterson left, he seems unfocussed and confused on the mound. He is throwin the ball instead of pitching it. I am concerned about the way he responded to the post game question about whether or not he was having problem with his non pitching arm, you will remember he left the game last week compiling of pain, his response was a rather angry NO to the question. I am not so sure I believe him.
I sure hope he comes back from the break his old self again.

Alou is gone, he will need prolly surgery on his torn hammy, which sucks he has been working so hard only to have this happen. I doubt we will see him again this season. So now the big question gets bigger, do we make a trade or go with the guys we have. I dono what Omar will do but if you ask me I think the guys we have in place now will be fine. Chavez is outstanding at right, Tatis can play left maybe with Evens, and of course Beltran at center. Leave A. Reyes at second, cause he made some awesome plays there this week, he is a great defensive player.

We also have a pretty decent bench as well and as manager that knows how and when to use them. We also have the option of bringing Martinez back up, I really liked that kid, just dono if he is ready.

So bring on the Rockies, lets go into the break in first place. all we need is for the Phillies and Marlins to loose a few.

Hey Abs you can out from hiding now, we forgive your Cards for giving the Phillies those wins, You know we love ya. (*8*)

I have always said I have major hots for David Wright, so when I find a new picture like this one I have to share ;)

I've got my two cents to add on the Mets revival,I'm happy of course:Dbut I've been wary, especially with Mets fans recent fun times riding the wild amusement ride understatedly known as the Billy Wagner Ninth Inning Experience.....not so good for my stomach,at least!

Great pic of David,sonny.....he seems about to be celebrating his last second naming to the All Star Team(YAY!!!):gogirl:(!)as a replacement for Alfonso Soriano of the Cubs.He really wanted to be at the current Yankee Stadium All-Star Finale and mentioned that he did not want the few days off,he wanted to be part of a great New York experience, and I am as thrilled as sonny and our other Mets fans he's going! What a hottie with an incredible smile:D,marvelous talent who always gives his best effort and tremendous person best of all for the New York Mets fans and organization to be proud of!..|

Fernando Tatis is such a great revelation.....he had his best year with the Cards and is doing everything he can with his chance with the Mets to being the productive player he once showed so much promise.Three clutch game deciding homers.....he is so fun to watch batting now, with the anticipation of something very clutch coming from a key at bat.

Ugh. I was so disappointed when we lost that series. I thought be played well except out bats like to go silent in spurts this season - this was one of them. BOO YOU STUPID PHILLIES AND YOUR FANS!!! You can eat me

And that pic, holy shit sonny - I want to just kiss DW and lick his face...that is hawt!

Other than that, Kyle Lohse won his eighth straight game tonight  I mean seriously, who would have thought that at the beginning of the season??? Who cares, I'll take it! :gogirl:

P.S. - thank you Dave Duncan :D

Not forgetting you,Abs.....though your Cards were pretty useless against the Phillies:p(damn I was so hoping you'd take two of three or sweep those phooey Phillies:cry:,boo hiss!)can't ever take any disappointment out on you(*8*)It's just I'm still a bit shell shocked from reading about Peto's post slamming our posts in your thread as the Absolut and Sausy Comedy Hour:eek:...though truth be told if there is any kind of variety show here it is Sonny and Absolut,of course!..|the Italian Stallion and the randy Irishman put a sexy twist to the old style variety shows of the past....can't wait to see their version of "I've Got You,Babe"....Hey Abs,those hours iof you learning the words to every song of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" may pay off!:pThat's all I'm going to say on the record on that matter!;)

A great win tonight for the Mets!2-1,one game behind the Phillies.....seven in a row and the supporting cast led tonight by Damion Easley continues to do what winning teams do....have meaningful contributions from the bench roster. With Castro,Tatis,Easley, and Chavez in particular this team is starting to show it has regained its cionfidence and swagger.NL,look out!(though I do share sonny's concerns about John Maine, and hope he can get his focus back in the second half).

Oh yes Abs....Brewers got Sabathia,Cubs got Harden, what will the Cards do?!!!:p

Manuel seems to be the right guy

Delgado, Beltran and Reyes seem to be much more into it now

Pelphrey is pitching amazing

Perez is back - 3 good starts in a row

Tatis - u gotta love that story - I do

going tomorrow against the Rockies

Phillies r flawed - and the Marlins r not the real deal IMO

so anything is possible

i really like their starting pitching right now

wagner is a concern but

lets go mets

We keep winning but can't make any ground cause the fuckin Phillies and Marlins keep winning as well. :grrr:
We may have to wait till after the break, when we meet the Phillies on the 22nd, to take over first place and kick their collective asses back to Philadelphia.
I just hope Howard gets lost on the way to NY :help:

Perez was pretty good last night, not perfect, but remember after all, he did face a lot of righties. At least he has not gone back to his meltdown ways.
That windup and delivery has sure made a difference...|

So your Cards won last night eh Abs, NOW you win, #-o
We needed your guys to beat Phillies. ](*,)
It's cool. we will just have to punish and Cards and show them no mercy later this month when we meet up again. ;)

8TH STRAIGHT WIN!

We are tied for second with the Marlins half a game out, our boys are really tearing it up, I am so pumped up I can barely breathe.
Tonight we go for the sweep, and if the Phillies lose again we will be in first place.
Depending on what Florida does we could be tied for first. Best case for me us is Mets win, Phillies and Marlins both lose and we take first. Hey, it could happen.

Pedro pitched well but left yesterdays game with what was described as right shoulder tightness and a slight groin injury. He claims to be ok and actually wanted to stay in the game, but Manuel decided to go the road of caution and pull him. I think that was a good move, especially since the pen came through again and kept the Rockies shut down.
Good news about Ryan Church, the doctors have confirmed that his headaches are migraine related and not post concussion symptoms, which is outstanding news. Church has suffered from migraines for a long time and was concerned that the new wave of them was caused by the concussion, but not so says the doctors.
Ryan will begin workouts immediately and expects to come off the DL sooner than 15 days.
So now we will have Church back at right maybe with the outstanding Chavez. In addition to the Church news, it seems Angel Pagan is healthy again and will return to left field soon to replace Alou. He can play left field right along with the awesome Tatis. Nick Evens will probably go back down, we don’t need him and besides in his second opportunity he did very little for us. I like the kids’ guts but he is not ready.
All the pieces are falling into place, so Omar can stop thinking about bringing in any new guys. Let the trade deadline come and go Omar, we will be fine. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

I have to share something I heard, during a post game interview Jerry Manual was asked how he heard the news about Wright making the All Star game. He said “I was watching trainer Jeff Cavaliere give David his rubdown and David told me about it. HE WAS WATCHING DAVID GET A RUBDOWN!! Now I know that it is perfectly normal for that to happen but the image of David lying on a table wearing a towel and getting rubbed down is an image in my head just won’t go away. Thinking about it gives me a boner that I could prolly pound a nail through a 2x4 with. Jeff is a babe as well, and if you have never seen him here he is.

Nine in a row!!!:gogirl::gogirl::gogirl:
more to come tomorrow,I'm too tired but very happy.....yea Mike Pelfrey,Carlos Beltran and Carlos Delgado(8 great shutout innings, two whopper home runs!)(!)(!)(!)(!)

Only one half game behind Philly at the All Star Break!:gogirl:

It's cool. we will just have to punish and Cards and show them no mercy later this month when we meet up again. ;)
I would increase this to a size 7,post it in Mets blue and add a lot of:gogirl::gogirl::gogirl::gogirl::gogirl:thrown in for for maximum effect, sonny!;)

And I agree with your take on the Mets right now.Ryan Church should be back shortly after the Mets resume play after the All Star break and the Mets don't need to make any rash moves(though if they could get Xavier Nady for a reasonable price,he would be perfect). They still may consider bringing up Fernando Martinez in August if he keeps playing well...had a hit tonight in the Minor League All Star game.

I'm so excited over the huge turnaround for our Mets!:D

I hear ya dude, I have this grin on my face that wont go away, why,
I am just freakin giddy. To bad those cocksucking, mother fucking whores from Philadelphia did not loose last night. (whoa Joey, that's a lot of anger) !oops! But with the Marlins loss we could had first all to ourselves. It's cool, we will get em after the Reds.
Pelfrey is absolutely the best starter we have right now. Not the rest of the boys are not pitching well. And can you believe our pen? ..|

I really want Omar to leave the team as is, but as you said, Nady would fit in well. You mentioned Martinez, actually he has been on fire in Binghamton. I am looking forward to his return as well.

Well, I gotta go now and annoy the crap outa all my NY Yankee fan friends. I am gonna be one huge obnoxious but happy Mets fan today.:D

So with the boys of summer on a break, my boys and I headed to Brooklyn yesterday to check out and support the Cyclones.

A lot of the Mets first draft picks were there as well as Angel Pagan who is doing his rehab work.
I saw Angel doing BP but could not get close enough to him to give a shout out.
Ike Davis, was there playing first, think he went 1-4 not sure
Reese Havens (who homered and had 3RBIs) did not play short which pissed me off. I haven’t heard why he was the DH but he must a had some kind of injury, more on that when I find out. Anyone know what’s up with him? I get why Davis played first with Pagan at left, but why was Havens not at short?
We also got a look at Yuri (s) Santana, a kid with a really good arm, I impressed.
Pagan played a little shaky at left and was 1-4 with an RBI.
I did get the attention of pitcher Roy Merritt who was awesome yesterday, I mean AWESOME! I yelled out to him “Next Stop Flushing”, I think he heard me cause I got a smile out him. Seriously, watch out for that kid.

The Cyclones executed a beautiful suicide squeeze in the 8th.
Dudes, seriously, it was executed perfectly and took everyone by surprise, I just stood there and went “WOW”

Cyclones won 7-6 with 14 hits but gave up two of those runs in the 9th with closer Steve Clyne, he sorta reminded me of Wagner with all that 9th inning drama. But it was his second save. Sometimes I’m too hard on savers. Defense was sloppy (both teams) but offence was excellent. (both teams)
The thing about Pagan was, he never faced a righty, only lefties, so we did not see how he swings the bat from the right side, now it was his left shoulder that had the rotator cup trouble so I imagine the Mets wanna know how he does with that before they bring him back. But he is supposed to play against the Reds starting Thursday. He will prolly be on the bench to start off anyways with Tatis and Chavez playing so well. Maybe even #25.

I did shake hands with the Cyclones mascot, some kinda bird, a seagull I think. So my day was made

All in all it was a great day at Keyspan, we had a terrific time.
Not to mention how awesome it was seeing these future Mets stars.
