New York Mets 2010

THE NY METS OWE PAT MISCH A HUGH APOLOGY FOR FUCKING UP HIS RETURN TOI THE MAJORS

Well written post Saucy you said what a lot of us are thinking.

I thought Pat did just fine thank you very much going six innings and allowing only one unearned run on 8 hits and 2 walks. Ok so he wasn’t dominant but very respectable. He gave the guys ground balls but they could not execute them… so sad. I was not surprised to hear Pat (cause that’s the man he is) when asked about the defense say “That’s baseball, we’ll get them next time”. He also sited some of the good plays (double plays) that were executed instead of dwelling on the bad ones.... Nice Pat ;)
Fortunatly Manual saw thru all the smoke and realized that it was the defense and lack of offense that cost us that game and Misch deserves another shot which he will get on Thursday.
Thanks Jerry, for once you did something right.

The defense bumbled their way thru a game that was beyond bad and down right embarrassing making three heinous errors which accounted for three earned runs. Yeah I know Pat committed one of those errors, and he and Ike had a good laugh about it in the dugout later. The thing is when a pitcher like Halladay is on the mound the defense cannot afford to stumble and give up runs, as they did tonight. If you saw that reaction of Ike mouthing “what bull shit” after he got punched out after getting caught looking,TWICE, you should know it wasn’t the call but the umpire’s reaction which was loud and rather theatrical. .

The Mets had absolutely no offense tonight with the 3-6 hitters going a combined 2 for 15 tonight with six strikeouts.

I loved the boos from the crowd for K-Rod, but hated the ones for Thole who has been one of our best clutch hitters and deserves better, I think the crowd was just so frustrated by that time they would have booed their own mothers. I don’t like seeing David Wright booed either but his offense and defense sucked tonight. Come on Dave I am getting more than just a little irritated with you now. I can forgive Tajada’s error but not yours

I’m paying golf today; maybe I can paste a couple of Mets faces on the ball and hit it from the tee to the green. That will fell good.

Have a great golf game this afternoon, sonny. You know things are bad when our Mets has sonny this pissed off!

At least from what K-Rod has said,he's going to anger management class. Now only if the Mets will show some fight and get back at their opponents in a healthy manner on the field, taking it to them, making their own breaks. You just can't expect a shutout every night...can't put such a burden on your starters so many times out.Mix in some 5,6,7 run game outbursts and that alone will help the Mets in the standings!

Yep,I'm glad Pat Misch is definitely going to get another start,he did pitch more than well enough to justify staying in the rotation.I understand David Wright getting booed, you know we love the guy,but he's stinkin' up the joint big time right now.Ike was a bit steamed with the call,he's all business on the field and the ump's theatrics were a bit too much.Ike just has to work on his approach at the plate, too many strikeouts though as a rookie,he'll learn and cut back on them. He's very intelligent out there and will figure adjustments.Yea,sonny...don't understand booing Josh Thole,he's gonna hit...even guys who are great contact hitters will strike out on occasion.Like Ike,he'll figure it out.

Damn it,the biggest fucking losers that have to go are the Wilpons!Enough already. Can't blame Pelf much,he was prety good but the Phillies were better. They take advantage when getting on base, they don't have players whose faces are stuck up their asses....I loathe the Phillies but the Mets don't even deserve the privilege of shining their shoes now.THEY have heart, they make the most of every opportunity....should have known when it briefly looked like Jeff Francouer might tie the game in the eighth with the drive to center,it would be harmlessly caught at the wall and the Mets would go without more than a whimper to close the game. The deepest fucking part of the ballpark! All those hits to begin the game and only Jose Reyes home run could bring a run home...then nothing until the tease in the eighth!

I can see Jerry Manuel's after game press conference now...honest about all the things that went wrong but saying we'll be all right, the offense will come around,we'll have a streak....WHEN,Jerry,WHEN?!!!:grrr:It's useless because you have a doldering owner possibly going senile in Fred Wilpon and a gutless coward who wants to deal with nothing in his son, team president Jeff Wilpon.Until one of them has an epiphany and realizes they HAVE to act, have to fire Manuel/Minaya together ideally or at least Manuel now,and replace him with a gutty, gritty guy that will not allow this shit to go on any longer...please oh please Wally Backman I'm talking....NOTHING will happen.Because it's almost too late now barring a heart tranplant for this organization and a sense of urgency among the players to get the fuck moving!!!

I'm embarassed as a Mets fan....I'd even consider trading David Wright in the offseason.Carlos Beltran, too. We have too many guys who strike out....Wright,Bay when in the lineup...Ike is killing us too,not making nearly enough contact.I just don't know when we'll get it as an organization...we had it going so well in June, going into the All Star break we were still eight games over .500 and we throw it away.I love our Mets, when they make that run through the playoffs some day I'd be so proud of them. But the way things are going now,we win two straight for the first time since June22-23 and then proceed to LOSE two straight. We can't get it going for anything, just don't get it.:(I'm sure sonny and syam are as frustrated and downcast as I am right now,and believe me I would want nothing more than to be excited and proud of my Mets. They just don't seem to get it,and Mets fans can't understand why.

I watched the last half of last night's game at my local gay sports bar. Do ESPN commentators drive you crazy, too?

Anyhow, now our teams can start beating up on the rest of the NL. Like Houston. Please.

I did not see last nights game live but watched highlights this morning.
Last night I went to the St. George theatre on Staten Island to see my boys from the Cyclones get the red carpet treatment in preparation for tonight’s all star game.
The show included Frankie Valli and the four seasons followed by dinner.

I spent most of the night with outfielder deluxe Cory Vaughn and Jeff Flagg who plays first for the Cyclones.
We did not talk a lot about the Mets but did talk about K-Rod. As you must have heard Frankie is done for the season apparently he tore a ligament on his thumb when he threw that punch the other day, what a fool. But talk last night was of the possibility the Mets will be able to void K-Rod’s contract, which leads to further speculation that the Mets could have used this opportunity to dump K-Rod for the rest of the year, Would not be the fist time the Mets pulled off that kind of trick I trust that front office as far as I can throw em. If the Mets try and void the rest of K-Rod’s contract for sustaining a non-baseball injury it will be tricky buy possible. We will learn more today what they plan on doing. What we need to understand is The Mets can't trade him, cause with that assault incident and injury his value has decreased. A void is possible

But getting back to, last night, it was a Great night, had a blast, looking forward to tonight’s game.
The Cyclones' Magic Number is now 12.
Any combination of Brooklyn wins and HV losses that equals 12 will clinch a division title for the Cyclones.
If the Cyclones win the Division crown, it will be their fifth in 10 seasons; we also won in 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2007. They also made the playoffs as Wild Card winners in 2006 and 2009. The 2010 Cyclones are also going for franchise history, with a 38-19 record through 57 games. Our all-time best single-season record is 52-24, in the 2001 team. If the 2010 team goes 15-4 through the last 19 games of the season, they will have the best regular-season record in franchise history.

So last night Niese was once again outstanding pitching 7 great innings
Dono why Manual pulled him after seven I will have to watch more if the game to see what happened there, anyone know?

Yesterday Saucy suggested that maybe the Mets should trade D Wright over the winter so David responded by going 3-4 and also played very good defense.
Maybe Saucy needs to threaten some other Mets payers…it worked. :p

Word is that The Mets plan to exercise shortstop Jose Reyes' $11 million club option for 2011. And they're also considering negotiations toward a long-term extension.

Another topic of conversation at the All Star dinner last night was The Mets signing Pitcher Matt Harvey. What I was told last night is that he is a power arm who has four pitches, a fastball that ranges can hit 98 MPH, a great slider, curve and a changeup. I am also told he uses all of them effectively, My My ;)
Reports coming in on him are that his work ethic is amazing and is extremely hard working. He was 8-3 this season for North Carolina with a 3.09 ERA in 14 starts, while striking out 102 batters and walking just 35 in 96 innings pitched. My My :D

Interesting matchup tonight, Santana and Figueroa who has a BIG hard-on for the Mets after they let him go, he has a bone to pick and will be on fire tonight.

One last thing I heard that the Astros booed Beltran at every at bat last night, It has been 6 years since he left Texas get over it.

Figures my birthday the Mets crap on me.Ah well, four game series, let's seee if we can at least split here in Houston

Johann was solid, just two much Hunter Pence,as in two big home runs ,an opening inning three run bomb and a solo encore in the eighth.Pence drove in all four Houston runs. Not gonna blame Johann, tough even when not as sharp but those two mistakes to Pence were costly.

Yep sonny,I guess I put a scare into David, didn't I?:pGod knows I wouldn't trade David unless I knew the club was going to go backwards and it would take a lot of new blood to get things gong forward. But David hit a big home run tonight, tieing the game at three and the previous night my god,he made some incredible athletic plays. That's the D Wright we know and love, just need to see him stay around a lot longer. Also great catch, vintage Carlos Beltran ending the eighth in that Mets win Monday night running it down effortlessly in the left center gap, looked better than he has pretty much since he returned from the microsurgery. So frustrated with this organization, the Wilpons are an embarassment and oh,fucking Omar....

then I see what Sonny sees with the Cyclones and know that it won't take too long for better days to come if we can bridge that two year gap.Everything I read on Cory Vaughn is glowing,he can really be an impact kid a couple of years down the line...I know sonny loves Jeff Flagg but I'm really intrigued with somene he also talked about,Darren Ceciliani.I read he's got kind of a Jacoby Ellsbury style about him, lashing line drives all over the place, great speed and probably a better defender. The kid is all out hustle and excitement. And we've got Ike Davis maturing,Jonathan Niese,Josh Thole, others sonny has spoken of...glad he gets so much out of seeing our future in Brooklyn....like I've said before you can see the joy in him talking about this season, being the best tem in its division by far.

I don't know where the Mets will get in their attempts to possibly invalidate K-Rod's contract. His recklessness in causing the thumb ligament injury likely caused when he pummeled his fiance's father in that clubhouse tunnel outside the Mets family room, was just staggering.Good luck ,though....and I'm glad they have for now at least frozen his salary.

First of all happy belated birthday to Saucy, many many more my friend.:bday:

So I missed last night’s game to go to the Penn league All Star game, but aren’t we all glad we kept Ollie and dumped Nelson last year.
I was so opposed to that I remember making a lot of noise over that dumb ass decision. I always liked Figueroa and wanted him to stay as a Met, last nights game is on my DVR for me to watch later I really wanna watch Nelson pitch, oh, and see D Wright hit that homer.

In the All Star game last night the NL lost to the AL 4-3, we had the game in the 4 fourth when a throwing error on a ball hit by Joe Bonfe allowed Cory Vaughn and Miguel Alvarez to score to give the National League a 3-1 lead But the Al rallied for three runs and won 4-3. The SI Yankees closer Chase Whitley, got the save with a couple of strikeouts, the kid is really good has had 11saves.
Our boy Cory Vaughn singled and scored a run unfortunately our closer Ryan Fraser blew the save by allowing a game-tying sacrifice fly and then giving up the game-winning hit.
Good pitching all around and a feeling of pride and excitement you could taste everyone was pumped, what a fun night! I got there early to watch BP and made the rounds wishing everyone good luck. There had to have been about 7000 people there not a very big park I wish they had played in Brooklyn. I could not get to Wally Backman he seemed always busy and I did not want to bother him but he was as usual on fire greeting every player as they returned to the dugout be it a hit or strike out, what ever, just so supportive, I was just he kind of day that makes me just love baseball all the more as if that’s possible. Of course to see so many Cyclone players in the game just had me beaming with pride, I love those guys so much. My brothers all of em. (*8*)

Back to the Mets, Ryota Igarashi got the call AGAIN, and has been promoted from Triple-A Buffalo; he headed for Houston, and will replace Francisco Rodriguez on the 25–man roster. That dude has been promoted and demoted so many times over the last few week, they out to just keep a locker available for him at all times.;)

As Saucy mentioned, The Mets announced that Francisco Rodriguez has been placed on the disqualified list, making his contract non-guaranteed, which means they will not need to pay the remainder of his contract so long as he is unable to play and he will not be paid or accrue major-league service time while on the Disqualified List. I was glad to hear it was Jeff Wilpon, who did most of the talking and not Omar. We will have to see what happens over the next couple of days to see if the Players Union will contest the decision.
I mentioned yesterday how I could not understand how he was able to pitch the other night of his thumb was fucked up. I mean Rodriguez did say he injured his thumb during the altercation with his girl friends father, but the trainers said he did not complain of the injury which is why he was allowed to pitch, so figure that one out. But him saying that will not be good for him if the Mets go after him further for conduct in violation of his Uniform Player’s Contract. In fact, the Mets have already notified Frankie, his agent, and the MLB Players Association that it has exercised its right to convert Rodriguez’s contract with the club to a non-guaranteed contract. The Mets are still looking to try and void his contract on the grounds that his season-ending thumb injury was not baseball-related. That’s where the language of his contract will come into play along with his admission hat he hurt his thumb in that altercation. To be sure there will be a lot of fine comb reading of his contract to see how badly he violated it, there are usually clauses on there to protect the team against stuff like Frankie did, we will just have to see. He is done for 2010 question is will he return in 2011

What a mess, just when he was finally beginning to pitch well again.

Fun game last night good to see the boys hitting the ball and playing hard again. Dickey was excellent, perhaps after 108 pitches he should have sat out the ninth cause the game got tied and ended up going 14 innings.

D Wright took himself out of the game feeling flu like symptoms, her had been throwing up and felling dizzy and finally decided he needed to come out of the game. Thole was feeling some of that as well so must be something going around hopefully they will both feel better tonight. David has been hitting better since he finally moved a bit closer to the plate, I guess he go tired of me yelling at him about that, see David, I told you it would work. :D Saucy threatening to trade him had to have helped making David change his position.

Getting back to Thole, yesterday I mentioned that Rod Barajas would re-join the team and I wondered what that would mean for Josh. I was hoping the Mets would carry three catchers again and maybe demote either Fernando Martinez or Mike Hessman. All of this of course we can’t seem to blast Perez off the roster spot which he continues to hold hostage. Now I hear that the Mets have placed Barajas on waivers, which could lead to another team claiming him and or maybe trading him. So stay tuned.

It was good to see Ike Davis knock in the go-ahead run last night in the 14th inning with that sacrifice-fly to right field. I was very depressed to see him struggling so bad and when he got jammed in the 10th inning and went down with the bases loaded I thought, fuck what an opportunity he had just missed out on. The nice thing about that hit was his third game-winning RBI in extra innings this season, which is a record for a Mets rookie. Count on me to always look for the positive for my boy Ike. ;) Of course he is still playing excellent defense like that awesome scoop on a throw in the dirt from Ruben Tejada, which completed a double play.:=D:

I haven’t written much about Daniel Murphy in a while, I have told you guys that I have been keeping in touch with him after that party we had for him thrown by Nick Evans after Daniel got hurt in Buffalo. He has been feeling great and is now working second base in St. Lucie, working his way back form that knee injury. He continues to stay positive and is hopeful to be back with the Mets in 2011, if he works hard and as he puts it “puts more bullets in his gun” perhaps we can expect him back in perhaps a utility role next season,

As expected, the MLB Players Union has filed a grievance against the Mets for putting Francisco Rodriguez on the disqualified list without pay. The Mets have stated that they disagree with the position of the Players Association, and believe their action was justified and appropriate. Once again stay tuned, but I will tell you, if I never see K-Rod in a Mets uniform again it will be to soon.

Misch on the mound tonight, my heart will be pounding again.

Thanks sonny, and I appreciated your most generous gift.(*8*)The ass-ets on that stud was inspring,to say the least!(!)And he's still up there,so I gather the mods let it slide for such a thoughtful present!;)

Glad David Wright's okay after the stomach bug that caused him to have to leave the game Wednesday night.I wish I could take the credit for his home run the other night and his two hits Wednesday night!;)Of course I don't really want the Mets to trade him,but my thinking is that the Mets have to do something drastic to avoid settling for a win one, lose one rut they're in....our pitching is generally fine. But our offense,well...it's rather offensive!

Tonight Ishagawi was really good out of the pen...Pat Misch had one rough inning, made one big mistake to Lee to fall behind 3-2 in the seventh as Carlos Lee mashed a screaming three run homer. But again he pitched well enough to deserve some more starts. But they just don't hit ,they really must have great pitching to be in games most days because offensively they don't come up with the really big hit and at times completely get themselves out.Jose Reyes was on base what,5 times Friday yet scored just one run, driven in by Ike Davis in the 14th?David Wright has three RBI all month I believe.Ike Davis, yep sonny loved that he got the game winning sacrifice fly but he has to get more selective, adjust better. His defense is still Gold Glove caliber at first, but he's got to help carry the loadmore reliably.Though I love his cool, professional presence at the plate.Hopefully for next seson he steps up and makes himself as feared as the ridiculous power he generates to all fields indicates he should.Jeff Francouer was big a few nights back but even looking better hasn't been able to get on much...love the guy, great clubhouse presence and personality...plays hard and is so gifted defensively it's a shame he's regressed from the guy who looked like a steal for the Mets the last half of last season and what a springtraining!Opened the season red hot,got really cold, heated up for a month then lost it.I wish he could have realized his enormous potential here, everyone loves Frenchy but it seems he isn't going to return next year, and doesn't deserve to based on his spotty offense.

We have Jason Bay who plays the same way, gives it all and is unfailingly professional but he strikes out and hasn't hit,at least been very poor driving in runs. His concussion resulting in a prolonged Damien Kyle stay(though after the Mets previous ineptness handling injuries good to see a more cautious approach)has not resulted in someone picking up the slack to any real degree. He was great replacing a legend in Manny Ramirez, had no difficulty at all adjusting and was a huge clutch bat for the Red Sox.He can deal with big city pressure, but his offensive troubles as a Met is puzzling and frustrating to everyone.Carlos Beltran is starting to feel more comfortable at the plate and in the field but isn't quite there yet.Only guys we can count on in the lineup are Jose Reyes and Angel Pagan, but somehow the heart of the order has to find a way to come up big and the lower part of the order has to do better contributing.Hopefully youngsters like Josh Thole and Ruben Tejada will improve, they certainly have a mature approach to the game in spite of their youth, and should wind up as solid contributors if not stars. But someone has to step up soon.

Glad you had a great time at the Penn League All Star game, just wish the result was better. At least the Mets' future looks bright, and your guy Cory had a good game of course...just hoping we don't have to wait on Cory,Darren, etc. before we get back on track. But at least we've got an exciting group coming up to rival the best Mets generations of stars.

Finally thanks for the update on Daniel Murphy.Wouldn't expect anything different then him working his tail off and preparing himself for next season...hopefully still wearing a Mets uniform. He has the perfect hitting temperament....patient and takes walks, puts the ball in play and doesn't strike out that much.He looks like he can be a doubles machine, perhaps develop 15-25 home run power.I really hope the Mets still have a role for him, even if to build up his trade value with a successful return.Great for Nick, the guys and you to really be there to give Daniel support. He was so crushed when in doing all the right things, making himself more versatile without complaint going over to second base getting that knee torn with that uncalled for undercutting. He's a great guy even more importantly and you gotta root for him...|

Saucy you are very welcome and I too am glad the mods decided to let the picture stay up;
it wasn’t that bad after all. ;)

Last nights game except for Misch was pathetic. The offense has gone from bad to embarrassing to just plain hard to watch. Wright did feel a lot better yesterday he thinks maybe he ate something bad. David is very careful about what he puts in his body, I mean he is obsessed with that, but he suspects some sort of apple sauce kind of concoction he eats may have gone bad. But he went back to his slump along with just about everyone else. The only hits came form Reyes Cater and Misch. Yup, Misch just like the day before when Dickey was responsible for the two runs the Mets scored, it was once again the pitcher who thought, the only way to get runs on the board is to make em yourself, pretty sad. I thought Misch did really well, he got hit with a few deep fly balls in the first and then there was that OH NO later in the game. But he gave up only one hit through six innings and allowed 4 hits and 3 runs, walking none I thought he did a great job mixing in sliders with changeups. It was his second no support start for the Mets since coming up from Buffalo, first the defense done him wrong and last night it was a lack of offense. Had we scored a few maybe we could have won in spite of his 3 runs as for the Mets runs the only reason they got them was because the Astros shortstop was standing between second and third base when the Mets came to bat. Sanchez’s could not field well and so the Mets scored, first he missed second base on a DP attempt which allowed a run to score, and then he couldn’t turn Chris Carters grounder into an out, so let’s not give the Mets too much credit.

May I be the first one who says we are done? There is no way the Mets win a division in any way shape or form. Even if we were to all of sudden start winning game after game we would still need for those other teams that have been playing so well to suddenly turn soar…it ain’t gonna happen. All we can hope for is a decent finish over .500 and go out with a little dignity; I just don’t want a free fall to the bottom, just a reasonably decent finish to a very disappointing season. I think Manual said it best last night when he called his team’s offense “Pathetic.” We will see some of the boys back 9/1 when the roster is expanded so expect F-Mart and hopefully Evans back. I also expect Mejia to be brought back I would like to see him in the closing role. He has been pitching well in Binghamton and pitched a one hitter the other night

Saucy I am happy you haven’t forgotten Murphy, he is such a great kid and never got down on himself during the time he was healing, never felt sorry for himself and never for one second believed he was not gonna be bask strong. You may recall when he first got hurt they said he would be out 4-6 months but at the time he said BS on that and sure enough three months later he is all but totally healed, The Irish hammer how could you not love that. The get together Evans threw for him was his friends wanting him to know how much support he had there was no oh poor you just a lot of ribbing especially about the times he attempted to play the outfield, all good natured fun and just what Murph need at the time. Daniel and Nick go back to the St. Lucie Mets in 2007 and they were roommates in AA Binghamton last year. No one in baseball knows Murph better than Nick, great friends more like brothers on and off the field. In fact when they played together for the Mets if you asked one about something like hitting it would usually be Nick and me are working on this or Daniel and I are improving that. The thing you quickly learn about Murph is that he eats and sleeps baseball, I mean he dude will talk baseball, especially hitting, non stop no matter what you are talking about, sooner than later it will end up about baseball. And man oh man is he ever competitive I have I played racket ball with him a few times and found that out real quick. Not a sore loser, don’t get me wrong, just very competitive and has to do well even if he loses. Like me Daniel started in pee wee ball at age five, I have seen home movies his dad took when Daniel was about six running the bases. It’s in his blood he is all baseball and other than his family nothing else matters.

The Cyclones are SO where it's at. If I were a Mets fan, I'd focus on them. I love what Flagg, Ceciliani, Vaughn and Sanoval are doing right now.

These are the league stat standings from a few weeks back. The New York/Penn League has sixteen teams and Brooklyn are dominating them ALL:

They have to win it all this year and I want this whole group to become Mets around the same time.

I have been around the Cyclones for about eight years now I go to as many games as I can. I agree with you about them being "Where it's at"
They won their 40th game of the season last night, which improves the Cyclones league best record to 40-20, extends their first-place lead to 9.5 and lowers the team's magic number to seven. I am sure we will see Vaughn and Ceciliani pomoted to AA early next year and AAA soon after, won't be long before they are in Flushing

I kinda knew Naughty Arousal's Cyclones shout out would get your attention, sonny;)NA,sonny's been to so many Cyclones games he should be employed by the club!I think as well as the great young talent you guys talk about, sonny knows too that a big reason for the dominance is the mindset that manager Wally Backman infuses in his players from day 1.It would be unthinkable that the Mets would so often drift into listless, pathetic horseshit play.Let's root that some of these talented players Wally helped mold into professionals will be pivotal foundations for the Mets future. As well as Wally promoted to Mets manager really soon.Jerry Manuel will unlikely survive the offseason and the Mets should name someone who can forge a winning identity...indeed someone who was a major part at second base helping the Mets win the WS in 1986,my finest baseball memory. No retreads....Wally IS a Met.

We'll take a weather shortened win,5-1....what's in these guys Wheaties lately?:pAnother terrific effort by Jon Niese after a gutty, strong performance by a stomach flu afflicted Mike Pelfrey. When he has confidence, what a tough, outstanding talent he is!Niese' improvement is scary...by all real accounts Niese is a rooke after last year's brief, hamstring tear curtailed introduction to the majors....with Santana,Pelfrey,Niese,a steady, professional wonderful surprise in RA Dickey...Jennry Mejia could come on big in the next year or two and recent stud righty signee Matt Harvey has a Pelfrey type hard sinker, and more toughnesss and resiliency already than Pelfrey showed at a similar stage...some of the guys Sonny knows of I've left out....the Mets have the makings of a VERY good rotation.

Sonny,I suggest David should be traded and he busts out....great lately and slammed a clutch three run homer in this game.I'm very happy for him and damn want to be proved wrong,David gets back to the old David EVERYBODY respected. He's gotta stop being his own worst enemy when he feels the pressure to maximize his performance...let the game come to him like he's been doing lately and when he was so hot during June up to the All Star break. We love you David, just keep being David!!!:DNow you publicly say you're the first here to declare them done and they score 12 runs in two games!:pThey love throwing curves at us!;)

Jose Reyes is just a joy to watch when he's going as well as he is now.He thrives on being that dynamic force that determines the way the game is going tobe played. So good seeing him and other Mets like the also indispensible Angel Pagan taking the game to the opposition.Love the crazy but refreshing idea of putting Chris Carter of all people in the cleanup spot.Animal loves the challenge and he is a great situational hitter.Loved the other day a punched single to left knocked in a run and then he pulverized the ball into the right field stands for a solo home run...and he made a great sliding catch in right the other night!Josh Thole is showing each night even if he doesn't hit,why he should be the catcher of the Mets near and long term future. And he's hit and will hit more than enough to hold his own.

On the funny side I read a real great Mets fan blog, they're very tough when they have to be but passionately love our Mets called hotfoot.com and they had the most hysterical pic of Chris Carter being kind of hazed by the mets players.Hopefully sonny wil be able to post it for our Mets fans, and especially Animal fans,here...it's a hoot!

sonny's been to so many Cyclones games he should be employed by the club!

Saucy you are so right about me and the Cyclones, I do go to a lot of games I will be there both Thursday and Friday this week and I am going with my dad to Buffalo tomorrow to see the Bisons The game will be on SNY and as always you can look for the cute Italian kid with the Mets cap and I like Ike shirt (yup I still wear one).

Sonny, Now you publicly say you're the first here to declare them done and they score 12 runs in two games!:pThey love throwing curves at us!;)

Nah saucy I don’t put much stock in that; it was the Pirates after all. If we can’t beat that team who are 40-82 who can we beat? It was nice to watch a team that is actually worse than the Mets, Jezz those Pirates suck. Let’s see what happens when they get back home and play Florida which is a team they should be able to beat. Over the next few weeks especially when the roster expands I wanna see the youth movement in full force, lets get em out there and see what they have for Mets 2011. I don’t wanna see much of guys like Castillo and not even that much of Beltran he is not moving well out there at all he sometimes seems to be not even trying that hard. We need Pagan in center and Carter at left, how much do we love Carter who seems to like the cleanup spot, he needs work on his defense no question, but now that we are unlikely to win anything here (sad but lets be real) let him play and develop maybe work with Angel. Bring back Nick Evans, F-Mart, and Mejia of course play Thole not Blanco.
Ho Jo finally spoke out about the Mets offense, he called a hitters meeting and ripped into them for their recent performance and pre-game card playing. Johnson supposedly wonder aloud why the players were playing cards, rather than focusing on hitting before games, and he called out each individual player on what he was doing wrong. Howard went on to say
“I think as a group yesterday we came to some agreements as far as what we were going to try to do…We were going to try and be the aggressor and we’re going to try to dictate what happens up there. I kind of felt like we had guys kind of going in different directions…There’s a line that you can cross, and that becomes detrimental. When you have a bat in your hand, you’re supposed to the aggressor, you know? You’re supposed to be up there and the pitcher out there has got to be able to fear what you’re capable of doing.”
I liked what he said just wish he had said it sooner.

On the funny side Chris Carter being kind of hazed by the mets players.Hopefully sonny wil be able to post it for our Mets fans, and especially Animal fans,here...it's a hoot!

Here it is, you should know that Chris is a very funny dude, intense and as Thole has called him "always caffeinated" but a great sense of humor and fun in the clubhouse.

Hi guys, Back from vacation, glad I missed most of the KRod "drama". The Mets continued on their mediocre at best play, splitting the Houston series, and taking 2 of 3 from the Buccos. The pitching has held up remarkably well this season, but the offense is just horrible. I see Manuel finally admonished the troops as pathetic, and Hojo blasted some of the boys. A little late, but they probably have reached their limit with the woeful performances, too. I know I have. Well Rod Barajas provided us with a nice spring, but just up and died after that. He can play out the season in LA, the Dodgers aren't going anywhere either. ANother damning offensive performance leaves Johan with another unjustified loss, a damn shame! Very frustrating to waste his tremendous talent.

Nice to see you again Syam hope the vacation was al you wanted it to be.
Yeah you missed the K-Rod mess but I am over it and him good riddens to all his drama we gotta move on from him now.

So the Mets offense explosion lasted two days, no surprise there it’s what they do but I did think they could at least sweep the Pirates one of the worse teams around now, but oh no, I forgot Santana was pitching and the bats always go cold when he is on the mound.
I am getting used to the Mets playing losing ball nothing new there but yesterday had an extra bit of ageda for me with Lasting Milledage, I absolutely despise that punk have for a long time. When he was a Met he did some very questionable things all of which I have written about here a few times, he is unprofessional and goes against everything I stand for in the game. So to have him get that homer and then rob Carter of an extra base hit was too much for me. Then to have Kevin Burckhardt interview that fool after the game was the last straw, why oh why did Kevin do that? Talk abut insult to injury, Kevin Kevin what were you thinking.

I mentioned the other day that Rod Barajas would probably be gone soon with him placed off waivers and it happened with him going to the Dodgers. He was a great teammate and well liked But he has struggled this year and the Mets were not going to carry three catchers. Best thing to come out of this is the decision to make Thole the #1 catcher backed up by Blanco I like that move a lot. Thole is the future of the Mets.I am not sure I would have called up Jesus Felicano to replace Barajas but with the roster expanding soon I guess it did not matter much. Its a very good move for Rod he grew up a Dodgers fan and wants to live in LA, good luck Rod and thanks for all you id for us especially working with Thole on his game I know how much he appreciated that.

Well guess who’s hurt again, Fernando Martinez aggravated his knee again trying to beat out a double play in yesterday’s game in AAA Buffalo leaving doubt that he will return to Flushing Sept 1st when the roster expands, if it were not for bad luck that kid would have no luck at all. Justin Turner may also be hurt he tried to stop running on a play yesterday and his right knee buckled under him. They will reevaluate him today to see how he feels.

Pat Misch will not pitch in what would have been his normal next start on Wednesday and will instead pitch Saturday against the Astros. The new rotation this week will be R.A. Dickey on Tuesday, followed by Mike Pelfrey on Wednesday, Jon Niese on Thursday, Johan Santana on Friday and Misch on Saturday, followed by Dickey again next Sunday.

Going to Buffalo this afternoon to see the Bisons prolly for the last time this season, I want to introduce my dad to some of the boys. Nick Evans and Mike O’Conner were kind enough to make some arrangements for us.
.

sonny's been to so many Cyclones games he should be employed by the club!

Yay,sonny that's the pic! Thanks so much,I knew you'd be on it!:DGotta love Chris,he is a popular guy in the clubhouse,a real character but always working to get the most out of his talent. He's a quality hitter when given the at bats....Jerry messed with success and the offense stagnated again Sunday and lost to a previously pretty woeful Zach Duke...a sweep of the doormat Pirates would have been very nice!

Glad to see you back too,syam...hoping your vacation time was great and always appreciate your perspectives!

Wish Howard had lit into em sooner too,sonny....worked for two games at least...though I'm wondering myself who were playing cards and not working on their game?Isn't it Jerry Manuel's job to make sure his players are prepared and have their priorities in order?Well at least someone called them on their unprofessionalism....there's a time for card playing, but not when the team is struggling and is having a very difficult time getting their offense on track. The starting pitching neeeds the offense to work with them, not take them for granted.

Yea,I know it was Pittsburgh but you gotta start winning somewhere....and I agree with you, having Lastings Milledge rub salt in the wounds of his old club offensively and defensively...well,the Nats got tired of his act too,and I'm sure Pittsburgh will as well.I wasn't sorry that the Mets traded him either, wish Ryan Church who they got back had panned out for them..he's a much higher quality individual.Didn't see the interview with Kevin but I know it's very rare that you don't see eye to eye with him,but Lastings is an unprofessional jerk and Kevin is usually one of the most professional guys around,so it does make you wonder "Kevin, wtf talk to that idiot"?!!!:##:

Sad to see Rod Barajas go,definitely a great teammate and helped the Mets immensely with some big home runs the first two months...we're going nowhere now though and he stopped hitting after the end of May,so it's good for him at least he's with his boyhood team being claimed on waivers by the Dodgers, being from the area and wish Rod the best as well!I'm glad that Josh Thole is now officially the Mets #1 catcher,he''s really impressed everyone with his skills showing great improvement defensively and calling games, handling the pitching staff most importantly besides being a solid contact hitter.Though it sucks that F Mart is injured yet again, the Mets would be better off playing some of the young guys like Tejada over Castillo and look ahead to next year.I'd like to see Angel Pagan play a lot more center again, but I think unfortunately when Carlos Beltran plays,it will be pretty exclusively in center.

Hope you and your dad had a great time at the Buffalo game last night, and he got to meet some of the guys like you were talking about was being arranged.I did catch a bit of it when the Bisons pulled ahead 2-1 early in the game, thought the crowd would be bigger as the Bisons are seriously in contention in their division.Impressed by big Lucas Duda who's been really good this season,a real nice power bat...Nick Evans who got on base on an error has been hitting well since replacing Mike Hessman in the lineup(I know Nick is one of your boys, and and Kirk Nieuwenhuis had a great year at Binghamton before being called up to Buffalo. He's got a great knack for getting extra base hits,a doubles machine and knocked in Nick Evans with a patented gap drive double to right field. He's gotten off to a slow start and missed the last couple of games due to a family wedding,I believe but had been something like 0-19 his last few games...but comes back refreshed and ready to drive the ball again. He intrigues me as a strong defensive player and good baserunner who can drive the ball but offensive consistency is the thing that scares me about him.He doesn't walk too often,is kinda streaky and strikes out in bunches, and we don't need another strikeout machine in the lineup.Hopefully the Mets will leave him at Buffalo most of next year as he has improved everywhere he's been and he can work on some of those rough edges to his offensive game. But seeing how well Buffalo has been playing(and the club seems so tight, everyone seems to love to play for manager Ken Oberkfell like Brooklyn players love Wally)as well as Brooklyn,it seems the Mets have a future to get really excited about.

Like I said, hope you and your dad had a great time last night(but unfortunately camera didn't pan in much,no sightings of a certain cute Italian stallion in an "I Like Ike" T-shirt!);)and have a blast Thursday and Friday sonny with the Cyclones! We as Mets fans have to be patient ,but as long as the future looks as exciting and competitive as what these guys are providing,it may just well finally be worth it!

I really enjoyed that post saucy, Sorry you didn't catch the whole game it was a great one, and you are so right about the crowd it was kinda scarce but they never get the big crowds the Cycloned
I do not understand why.

The Bisons clobbered the opposing team 12-4 with a total of 15 hits on the night. This puts them at 70-56 and one game out in the wild card. What is most important to remember is that manager Ken Oberkfell has had to rebuild his team on an ongoing bases with many guys coming up to the bigs and new guys coming up from AA, but Obie has been doing an awesome job along side of pitching coach Ricky Bones to keep the Bisons a winning team , In addition to the boys going on to the bigs the Bisons have had there share of injuries as well further hindering the team, currently Justin Turner and Fernando Martinez are out probably for the rest of the season. I spoke with Justin who came to the game hobbling around on crutches and he said he was coming down to NYC today for an evaluation from the doctors but was not optimistic about playing any more this year. Last night saw some outstanding defense and offense with Russ Adams crushing a pair of home runs; he now has 12 extra-base hits in his last 12 games, including six home runs. Dillon Gee pitched and was outstanding as always striking out 6 batters which earned him his 13th win of the season. Every player in the Bisons lineup collected a hit including six doubles, when was the last time the Mets did that. Nick Evans had a good night as well and in the last three games he has hit a home run all three of em.

I got to see Sean Green pitch again, I did not get to see him I kept missing him. I spoke to pitching coach Ricky Bones about Sean and he said he thought that Sean was going to be recalled by the Mets to replace Francisco Rodriguez but it has not happen, at least not yet. You guys will remember Sean was just
activated from the disabled list and optioned to Buffalo a couple of weeks ago so he could get some more work in. He went out with a stress fracture in his rib cage early in the season. Ricky expects when the roster expands that Sean along with Nick Evans and Raul Valdes will be back in Flushing he also sees a possibility of Dillon Gee coming up as well. F-Mart would have gone as well had he not gotten hurt again so who knows will we see Nieuwenhuis or Pridie? Not likely, but while he would not commit a yes or no answer I believe Ricky does as I do that the Mets probably won’t be going to the post season, so why not have a major youth moment to finish he season, let’s take a look at hat we have for 2011…. I’m just sayin. I did give Ricky a good laugh when I suggested a game between the Bisons and the Mets just for fun, charity game maybe, wouldn’t that be a hoot. Guess who would win? Hint …not the Mets. :p I would have suggested the Mets play the Cyclones but that would be just too cruel and embarrassing for the Mets.
Oh, you don’t seriously thing the Mets would beat the Cyclones do you???

Nothing new in Mets camp, Marlins series begins tonight

Wow, a come from ahead, come from behind victory last nite! RA pitched well except for the 3 run homer by Gaby Sanchez. He seems to be an up and coming Mets killer. Nice job by Angel Pagan to stretch a routine single into a double to get the tying run to second base in the eigth, and then driven home by Carlos Beltran. The fourth hit of the game for Angel, what a pleasure having him around this season. Luis Castillo of all people knocks home the winning run in the ninth with an opposite field pinch hit to right to score Ike who had walked. Nice victory, good bullpen work from Parnell and Takahashi, too. THese kind of games have not come often enough this season for the Mets. LEt's go Mets!!

So that was fun, we haven’t had a battle to the end like that in a while especially with a walk off win, great to see. Also great to see Castillo come thru for us, poor guy is feeling so rejected these days but when we need him he often gets it done for us, nice Luis, thanks.
I know Ike scored the winning run but his at bats lately concern me, he is back at swinging at everything he sees and is not recognizing pitches again. Another disturbing thing he has been doing too much of lately is taking his bad at bats out on the home plate umpire. We know the umpires can make some bad calls and have inconsistent strike zones, I get that, but Ike has been growling and throwing to many dirty looks in the direction of the umps lately and that’s not good. I wanna tell him sometimes it s not them but you, and as a rookie you can not get away with what you are doing so often. Please stop.

DWright had another good day, have you noticed he is creping closer and closer to the plate lately?
David insisted the problem with his hitting was not related to his position at the plate. I guess he finally realizes that it was a problem and has started making corrections even though he is doing it in a sutle and quiet manner.
It’s ok David you can eat that up and admit you were wrong, oh..... and I was right. ;)

How much do we love Pagan, another awesome night.

I am happy Manual changed his mind about shortening the rotation and skipping Misch, Pat will pitch tonight after all. I understood his reasoning kinda with all those righty Marlins, but this gives Pat a vote of confidence allowing him to go up against that heavy righty Marlins lineup. And let’s not forget it was Misch who last year pitched that complete game shutout against the Marlins. Plus with our starters mostly going deep into games lately they could use the normal time between starts instead of a shortened rotation.
Wait....Did I just give manual credit for doing something right?? :p

I want to say something about Dickey, he struggled some last night and of course there was that three run homer. Something is going on with him and the elements when he pitches. What I mean is he seems to have most of his problem with less than good weather conditions. A couple of weeks ago he had a miserable game when it was raining, t hen last night with that Steven King misty type what ever that was that was falling he struggled with this knuckler. I also noticed that when he pitched inside the dome in Texas where the air barely moves at all he had a little bit of trouble. Now I dono what all that means but I have noticed it and I have no idea what he can do about it…I’m just sayin.

I hear what youy are sayin NA I often get told I love the Cyclones more than the Mets. Thing is I kinda do I can't help myself I just love those guys.

Parnell wants to be our closer next year he spoke to Manual about it yesterday;
coincidently they cleaned out K-Rod locker the same day. Bye Bye jackass

Another one we shuda won, no enough offense which came to little to late,
oh well just another day in Mets land.
Pat Misch was a better ground ball pitcher in AAA and he is giving up more fly balls than usual, his strikeouts are down as well last night he did get seven swinging strikes in 82 pitches, A fair effort not great not terrible but absolutely not of the caliber he was pitching in AAA. The Mets are a bad influence on him, apparently you can only be average when you play with them and you have to leave your best stuff back in AAA, just ask F-Mart who was having his problems in the bigs as well after playing so well in Buffalo.
Of course I kid right??..... Right?? ;)
Speaking of K-Mart he visited the doctor in NYC yesterday and has been placed on the minor league seven-day disabled list he still has right knee soreness in his right knee.
This is his third trip to the DL, Poor kid and yesterday was his bobble head day too :(

It seems all I have to do is yell at some of theses players and they respond, first it was DWright and yesterday it was Ike Davis who hit his first MLB triple. They respond to my scoldings huh :p

No post would be complete these days without a little Cyclone news.
We won (again) last night, five of the 10 hits were doubles,
I will be there tonight and tomorrow night, gotta get my Pitch Black replica jersey, I saw it last week as is very cool. it is a black and blue pullover v-neck with gray racing stripes on the sleeves. The word Brooklyn is written in script across the chest in blue, with the word Cyclones in it. Then there is a white number 10 is on the back, 10 cause it’s our 10th year.
