New York Mets 2010

I agree wholeheartedly on Backman....he showed some very poor judgement in the past personally which derailed his managerial career as it looked like he was a rising star but he's paid for that and from whatever article I've read about his managing abililty, his players would run through walls for him and he has ways of getting the best out of them.Jerry is a real nice guy, great for clubs that have strong, self motivating leaders in the clubhouse to keep the morale positive but there aren't those kinds of personalities as far as I can se in the Mets clubhouse.Even David Wright, great example as he is,doesn't have that demonstrative a personality.Wally is a taskmaster but a very fair one,he gets his players motivated and ready and the Cyclones are leading their league convincingly. It may be too late for the Mets to salvage their season now but it isn't too late to start a new era that will get Mets fans cheering again, that will let them know the club hears them and will make the moves necessary starting with hiring Wally to let everyone know that the losing culture, the directionlessness ends now.

Another ball game and the Mets scored another run, what more is there to say?

Not much there is to say Syam it's just too sad.
Saucy I am happy you feel the way you do about Backman. I have had the pleasure of getting to know him some over he last couple of months in Brooklyn, he knows and appreciates my support and passion for the Cyclones, he knows of my friendship with the players. Even when like the other night when I was late to the game and missed BP I saw Wally smiled at waved at him and he responded with a wink.;)
I am amongst many Mets fans who want Manual gone and Wally to take over, many remember him from the 1986 Championship team, and will always hold a special place in the hearts of Mets fans. You would be surprised how many people wear Backman shirts at Cyclone games a real tribute to the man.

You guys may recall I wrote during the Cyclones spring training, when Wally first took over the team, about my conversations with some of the players, I could sense a feeling of excitement with the guys, Wally was quickly making a very good impression on all of them. Many of the boys commented on Wally’s aggressive playing and how he wanted the boys to learn all there is to learn. Wally even had them playing as coaches at first and third just for the experience of having gotten a feel for that.
What Mets need now is his just that kind of Aggressive leader, watching the Cyclones you see a lot of his work on the field, with stolen bases and forcing the opposing team to make mistakes (He loves to do that) Unlike Manual Wally loves to send the runners he is not afraid to take chances, and I can only imagine with what I have seen with the Cyclones what Wally would do with the Mets.
Manual is so low key he can put you to sleep, his press conferences are sooo boring and he never offers ant solutions to the problems, just a lot of “we have to do better”. Gee Jerry, ya think? And when can we look forward to that?
Wally on the other hand is much feistier; I have seen him show more emotion on one game than I have seen Manual show all year. And that my friends is what the Mets need to wake em up, Wally kickin some of those high paid sub performing Mets players ass and get them performing like the professional ball players they are supposed to be.
I have said this before and I will say it again the Cyclones under Backman play better baseball than the Mets due under Manual. Obviously they are not better ball payers but they play hard they never give up and they want to win. Were as the Mets well.. The games speak for them selves.
If youwant to see some fun baseball skip Citi field and head on over to Brooklyn and see what it means to play hard and win. That’s Wally Backman.

We have to make a move soon before it’s too late we are getting dangerously close to blowin again it this year. We are basically stuck at the number 19 as the number of games they probably need to be reasonably considered part of the wildcard race by September 1.
Here is the math: If you take the number of games remaining before September 1 and multiply by the winning percentage of the current wildcard leader you get 27 which you multiply by .575 and you get 15.32
Now take the number of games out of the wildcard lead and subtract 5 and you get 7.5 now minus the 5 and you get 2.5. All you have to do now is add those together, 15.32 and 2.5 and you get 18.02, rounded up is 19
So let’s say the wildcard leader will play at .575 between now and September, that would mean the Mets, will have to go 19-8 during that time to remain within five games of the wildcard lead. See, I told you we can do it, but only with Backman.

I’m not gonna write about last night. Why bother.
I will say I was once again baffled by Manual’s line up, why the Hell was Jeff Francoeur who is struggling so bad in there against the righty instead of Carter or Feliciano both of whom are lefties? But then I have not understood any of the 1000 different lineups manual has come up with all year.

I guess we can count on Cora replacing Grandma Castillo tonight after that blown double play attempt. By the way to all you guys who have said Wright made a bad throw, are you kiddin me? It was a good throw; Grandma dropped the ball in the transfer ](*,)

I think sonny and syam will appreciate this.I remember this time, and these guys have a lot they can teach today and future Mets ...what a fun time it was for Mets fans

1986 was an awesome season. I didn't get to see much of it on TV, I was living in Maine at the time, but you may remember the Red Sox had an equally good season. What a great World Series, and being a Mets fan in New England was terrific. ONe of my buds who is a Sox fan still gives me shit about that series.

Nice effort all around last nite, what a refreshing change. Dickey was superb again, a clutch pinch hit by Chris Carter to tie the game, and Frenchy's game winner in the ninth was great@! And it was off Wagner, that made it even better!!! Great job by the bullpen, Accosta and KRod were super. Need more games like this! Let's go Mets!!!

Ah Saucy it was great to se that video again, it never gets old. I once had the “Lets Go Mets Go” song as my ring tone. Yeah I know, a bit much but that’s my love for the team. The ‘86 team were amazing and they sure looked like they were having a great time making that video. It may be time if we bounce back over the next few weeks to make a new one with the current roster.
So last night was fun, nice to see a win like that. How exciting was Jeff Francour and that home run, holy cow what a thrill for him, the Mets and the fans. Watching him run the bases with that big smile on his face and then the reaction in the dugout when he returned with the whole team just pouncing all over him like it was a walk off win. That’s the love the rest of the team has and everyone was so happy for him. It was the best feel good hit of the year and the fact that it was off Billy Wagner was just the cherry on the pie :p

As Syam wrote, let’s also give it up for Chris Carter who hit his second important pinch hit at bat in the last two days. That RBI tied the game and set the stage for Frenchie to hit the go ahead run and ultimately won us the game. I have to admit like a lot if you guys I was a bit nervous when K-Rod came in the pitch the 9th I thought if he fucks this up it will be devastating, but he came thru with a 1-2-3 inning.

Dickey was excellent again, his ERAS now 2.36 and Acosta and the pen were spectacular.
We so needed that win.

Another big night for Pelfrey tonight he did have some improvement in his last two starts but his ERA is still 7.51. We need him to pitch well and win us a series to take to Philadelphia with us. The Phillies are banged up so maybe we can sneak in there win a couple and sneak back out.

Thanks syam and sonny, knew you'd like it...sonny was just a pup when that happened but I'm not surprised it left such a big impression on him;)love knowing that he had the song as a ringtone for awhile, that's a REAL Mets fan!..|Yep,syam they were great days, weren't they?Yankee fans became Met fans in the postseason so much was their hatred of Boston!:p

Tonight really hurt...as thrilling as Tuesday's win was,and it was so much fun seeing Frenchy launching the game winning opposite field home run Braves, back in his hometown and old club, off of Billy Wagner tonight brought us basck to the unfortunate reality.Ron Darling mentioned after the game perhaps the Mets were basically a .500 club, lots of interesting comments during the game with him,Keith Hernandez and Gary Thorne saying some tough but very honest things, they're one of the best broadcast crews in the game....they even talked about how it's unfathomable Pat Misch hasn't been called up yet as he's doing quite well in AAA Buffalo, you know how sonny has always been in Pat Misch's corner...how right he was about RA Dickey(God,this guy just loves to play....heart,passion and perserverance no matter how the Mets end up,one of the great stories of this or any year just because the odds were so stacked against him,but quit was never in his vocabulary)

So many things, just not in a very good mood right now and I'm sure sonny and syam will have their own perspectives to add but I really don't think this club has what it takes....look at how Philly is going through fighting despite a rash of injuries and very lackluster play that left them for dead just a few weeks back. That's why they have ruled the NL the past two years, and won a World Series title in 2008....they know what it takes to win and try their damnedest to find ways to do it.Even if they don't win the division,or miss the playoffs entirely as much as I loathe the Phillies and most Phillies fans:grrr:(love Scrub though,of course(*8*))they have my respect and extremely grudging admiration....believe me it hurts to type these words:cry:but the Mets have underachieved ever since they went down to the Cards in game 7 NLCS in 2006.They acted for the longest time as if they were the best team in the NL but won NOTHING.The Phils have it all over them, division titles and a World Series champion ring. The old Mets of the 80's were flawed, should have gone farther and would have had Darryl and Dwight kept their noses clean but they were respected and feared and you knew you had to be at the top of your game with them. And they always have the wonderful, joyous, delirious ride of 1986 and a World Series championship to make New York proud. That was a team....I don't know what we can do today that could bring us back to that position.Atlanta, the Phillies,Washington getting better, even the Marlins you can't take for granted....the Mets have to contend with a very competitive division.

The best teams on the average win between 95-105 games, even the best teams will have around 60 or so losses when the regular season is through. But the best teams know how to win when it counts, know that a loss or two is just life as it is and so is a long winning streak. Most of the time they'll be pretty crisp and all the facets of the team will complement each other harmoniously, people wil pick each other up and you know you're getting a quality effort at least and you'll be in it come September. They compete and the fans go to see them without fearing what calamitous plays will result in the inevitable loss...and that's what watching a Mets game has become, waiting for the shoe to inevitably drop that causes us to lose be it like tonight poor pitching, horrible defense, lack of clutch hitting, lack of fight, making fundamental inexplicably boneheaded plays on the field,on the bases,or at the plate. In my heart I want to joyously thunder"Let's go Mets"!!!...but my head always seems to be expecting in frustration the inevitable"WTF!":grrr:I wind up saying that a whole lot more than cheering.

I didn't see last nite's game, but in reading some newspaper accounts, it appears there was a big letdown, beginning with Pelfrey's continued ineffectiveness. When a starting pitcher struggles to get out of the first innning time after time, it can be a psychological let down for the rest of the team. The starter usually has to set the tone. The defensive lapses by virtlually the entire infield is an end result of lack of concentration. I know sometimes you just get a game like this, but following Sunday's 14-1 mess, this type of stuff should be seen a symptom of bigger issues. The season will run its course, this team is going nowhere, and hopefully there will be changes in the off season. I think it's too late to effectively do anything this year. And anyone who believes the ownership doesn't have money issues is deluding themselves. It's just too obvious.

Yup Saucy I don’t have much memory of experiencing those ’86 Mets, I was done with pee wee ball and on my way to Little league but my dad and Uncle still to this day talk about that team. Fortunately thanks to SNY’s classic games we get to see a few games from that era, in fact there is one on next week. Any of you guys unfamiliar with the ’86 Mets should check that out. The ring tone was actually a gift my dad who had given me a cell phone and had that song put on as the ring tone. I have seen the video many times growing up and have it on my computer, it’s a great way to get fired up before every season.

Mike Pelfrey did not continue to improve last night in fact he was just plain awful. Is it me or is he starting to look a lot like Ollie out there? :help:
His confidence seems to have completely gone away, AGAIN! He does not look comfortable at all and once again we are seeing that dazed and confused look. What happened to that guy who not that long ago had improved and was 9-1 with a 2.39 ERA and pitching as well as anyone in the National League.

Ron Darling is a man I admire and respect very much and I loved hearing him talk about Jerry Manuel having talked about possibly skipping or shifting Pelfrey in the rotation to set him up for a favorable matchup in his next start. HUH?? Ron picked right up on that saying he did not understand what Manual was talking about, Ron talked about how he has been around the game for 25 years and said “I don’t know what that means. There’s no protection in this game, there’s no picking a lineup that you think you’re gonna be more comfortable with … what do you do? pitch him at night at Citi Field where he has good numbers for the rest of the year? You can’t do that kind of stuff” Nice Ronnie…very nice.

Last nights loss was pathetic just pitiful and as if Pelf wasn’t bad enough the defense went to a level of stupidity and incompetence beyond words. Those three infield errors by Reyes, Davis, and worst of all Wright who threw a ball away attempting a double play, allowing two runs to score, please…
A comedy of errors, missed steps and bad decisions was the tone of the game. Bad pitching worse defense and lets not forget Manual who never seems to make the right calls anymore (when did he ever) Seriously Jerry, how do you walk 6 times in a game but score only three times?

I was not as fortunate as Syam who did not have to suffer through that game, lucky dude, But the bright spot in the night came fom my Blackberry updates on the Cyclone game and my boys had another great night. They played shutout ball beating their opponents 4-0. The win brings the Cyclones' record to 31-15 overall and our lead in first place is now 7.5 games. *Jerry Springer chant* Wally.. Wally… Wally, Backman that is) :D
Yohan Almonte (remember that name ) was on the mound and was dominant allowing just three hits and striking out seven in the game. His ERA is now 2.03. My boy Cory Vaughn got hiss 40th RBI of the season :=D:

I will be going out to Brooklyn tonight for the game it’s the night we get to run the bases, and while that’s usually mostly for kids everyone gets to run tonight. It’s also Irish night so I will be bringing a very close Irish buddy along for the fun. Hey… we can’t all be Italian.;)

Nice story sonny about how you got the ringtone and great to hear you have the video on your computer and still get jazzed by it:D...if that song doesn't make a Mets fan rock,I don't know what will!(!)

They were talking about the splitter Pelf has been working on...how as good a pitch it can be can also wreak havoc on the fastball.Ron Darling threw hard when he came up,used the splitter quite a bit and lost a lot on the fastball by the time he was traded by the Mets. Also talked about how Pelf goes through periods where his sinker just won't have the movement and it greatly loses its effectiveness....maybe the quicker we get Dan Warthen out of there as pitching coach you might get someone who really can get to working on the mechanics and getting Mike straightened out...you can tell this hurts him like hell, unlike Ollie we know he can be effective but the trick is to maximize his talents and Dan Warthen just doesn't cut it.Maybe Mike has to ditch the splitter for a cut fastball or change up or something that will help him in the long run maximize his effetiveness with that hard, heavy sinker. It's true what Ronnie said, you can't protect him that way and it seems kind of insulting to Mike...he needs tough love, not coddling.

Horrible defense...Ike shouldn't be one handing those grounders as Keith emphasized....Jose has to not allow one mistake to cause lack of focus and result in more mistakes and they have been on David Wright's recent habit of throwing sidearm a lot that like last night often can result like last night in inaccurate throwing.David also has to be more consistent on offense...at least he isn't striking out but he goes so hot and cold

I can see sonny doing a Irish jig;)enjoy your night with your friend at the Cyclones game, know you'll have a blast running the bases! The Cyclones are a hope our Mets still have a really exciting future with its great kids and winnuing spirit!..|

IRISH JIG?....ME????.... Dude, that would be blasphemy
I have written before about my hish school buddy Russell who is a card carrying Irish lad who is a s proud if his Irish heritage as I am of my Italian. But I tell him (jokingly of course) thst is not bad enough that he is Irish but he's a Yankee fan as well.
Brave talk coming from me the way the Mets have been playing.
But he loves the Cylones and so I forgive him the rest. ;)

Just minutes after my last post about my boy Russell who do you suppose called, What are the odds. He wanted me to see tbis graph that shows the Mets fans convidence in the team has dropped to 9% Good grief how depresisng.

Russell loves to tease me about the Mets but we have known each other forever and are very close so it's ok. In fact my mom used to put us in the same play pen to play together and later when his dad died my dad became his surragate father they too became close. Then when my dad who was in the Navy got stationed to Hawaii for 8 years Russell came to live with us for most of that time. He is my #1 boy more like a brother, I love him to death so if I kid him here on JUB you will know it is always out of love.

Check out this graph

Post2561w240.gif

I just couldn't resist teasing you with the jig remark!:pSo nice to hear about your bond with Russell....sounds like he's a great young man and you both have been more like brothers growing up how close your families were.....your father acting like a surrogate father after Russell's dad's death.Your father sounds like a really great man himself, and you talking about this brought a smile to my face. That playpen story was so adorable!:D

Glad even if he's a huge Yankee fan you got Russell rooting for the Cyclones.Yep,it's kind of difficult to give him grief over how the Yanks are doing which is a heck of a lot better than the Mets.;)All I can say about the poll is 9% confidence among Met fans in our current situation? The way the guys are going, surprised it's THAT high!#-o

It was a great night of baseball last night with the Cyclones winning 14-4 on 20 hits seven of em extra base hits and are now 15 games over .500 and eight games ahead in first place. :=D:
The biggest stars of the night (once again) were Darrell Ceciliani and Cory Vaughn with back-to-back home runs Ciciliani was just a triple short of the cycle and had a four RBI night. In fact last night was the eighth time he had three hits and fourth time he has scored three runs in a ballgame this year. Cory Vaughn had his 11th home run and his 41st RBI. Cory is now two home runs and five RBI short of the single-season Cyclone record. Pitcher Chris Hilliard who is 7-1 got the win and is now two wins shy of the Cyclone win record.
Let me remind you, these guys are single A ball players you will be hearing about very soon, in fact I am sure both Vaughn and Ceciliani will be in AA some time next year.

Buffalo had a great game last night as well winning 11- 4 Ruben Tejada (back form the DL) and Pat Misch (8 strike outs) both pitched a great game.
I was so proud and happy to hear from Kirk Nieuwenhuis who has been promoted from Double-A Binghamton. He has worked very hard and has earned that promotion, I am so happy for him. In case you guys forgot who Kirk is, he was an Eastern League All-Star for Binghamton hitting .289 with 35 doubles, two triples, 16 home runs, 60 RBIs; I think he has at least 13 stolen bases and just over 80 runs scored in something like 90 games. Actually Kirk has had six more extra-base hits than any other player in the league and is second in the Eastern League in doubles and runs scored and if I am not mistaken third in total bases. Just another rising star I try and keep you guys up to date on. I will tell you with Mets playing the way they are watching theses guys play and develop is the only thing that keeps me sane. Watching them beats suffering thru a Mets game hands down.

It was a fun night with the Irish heritage there were leprechauns and yes Saucy we had Irish jig dancers between innings as well. I did not get to speak with Wally Backman last night we just had one meet when he came into the clubhouse to talk to his guys and smiled and said
“I need you to step outside for a minute” Yes sir Mr. Backman. :D

Ron Darling also came into the clubhouse he was there working on that great Diabetes drive the Cyclones are so involved with. Ron has a son with the disease and is very much involved as the Cyclones are towards raising money. Bobby O came in as well and I finally broke down and shook his hand, I just don’t care for the guy and have avoided him but he has become such a great Cyclones supporter that I had to put those feelings aside.

Mets in Philadelphia tonight, the Phillies are a little banged up so maybe just maybe we can win that series.

Lets Go Mets

Sonny, glad to hear it was a great night for everyone and every time you write about the Cyclones you just seem to perk up so much....you can tell just how much the Cyclones mean to you and thir fans.Hearing about Darrell and your boy Cory and Kirk Nieuwenhuis,Pat Misch, all the Binghamton and Buffalo guys who are really opening eyes gets me so excited I ALMOST forget just how miserable the present day CitiField based Mets are making our lives.I like your approach,it's the only one that can get any Mets fan off the ledge...that Brooklyn Cyclones club is the gateway for a great Mets future, and you're a baseball fan first and foremost and you can see and appreciate the talent, passion and joy of terrific young ballplayers who may well be household names as you suggest after a couple of years.I'm so excited I can say I know someone who was there for the beginning of the next Mets explosion towards the baseball stratosphere....hopefully its longest and best!:D..|

I'm happy that you decided to shake Bobby Ojeda's hand,I know you don't really like him as an analyst(though I often think he does a good job,and he certainly doesn't sugar coat)His analysis after the game tonight was tough, very direct yet fair.I know Ron is less grating,Bobby can be like a killjoy at times and while Ronnie won't hesitate to be critical he is more reserved in his approach.Al Martino wrote an article in the Daily News that perfectly summed up the difference between the Mets and the Phillies....a little tough but impossible to dispute given the results of the last few years.

WTF is Fred Wilpon thinking?Giving what appeared to be lavish votes of confidence to son Jeff running the administrative side and Omar Minaya as GM.When asked if Omar would return as GM he replied inexplicably"Will the sun rise tomorrow"?He said that "everyone knows"son Jeff is doing a great job as the chief operating officer.Did Bernie Madoff hook Fred on drugs as he was fleecing him?:rolleyes:If Jeff really believes what his increasingly disengaged and discombobulated dad is crapping,Mets fans better hope the money problems cause the Wilpons to sell.Because there is no reason on Earth the Mets should be anything but competitive in this division and yet they can't land more than a glancing nudge to a guy like Blanton who most clubs were smacking around like a pinata?Fred wouldn't answer any questions about how the Mets were performing, what were the Wilpons view of the Mets troubles...this club needs something to happen and real soon. This club won't and can't contend...not with the culture that has developed there since 2007 that Omar Minaya has done precious little to reverse. If Omar doesn't fire Jerry Manuel and replace him with Wally Backman,or someone like Backman who will make players get the most of their abilities...if he stays but hasn't gotten the message from a more living in the real world Jeff Wilpon that his ass is on the line if things don't get better by the All Star break next season,no matter how much money is owed him through 2012...I just don't know how I can feel any hope this club can turn the page.Jeff says Omar is safe through 2011...well,not if we get more of the same old same old.Things have to change and NOW would be a perfect time to start.

Thanks Saucy for the kind words, I have a deep appreciation and respect for e young guys coming through the system. My relationship with the Cyclones goes back 8 years now and I have followed the Bisons for almost as long. Those two teams are even more important to m than the Mets, it is an incredibly awesome feeling watching theses kids grow and mature and make it the bigs, words are hard to come by. I have several close relationships with most of the past and current Cyclones players and coaches’, friendships I whole dearly.

I got an interesting call last night regarding Fernando Martinez and Ruben Tejada who were suddenly taken of the Bisons team. I called Pat Misch to see what he might know and I am waiting for a call back. Hopefully they are both on here way back to the Mets but you never know they could also be headed to another team in some kind of post-deadline trade. If they are headed back who is going to go? Francour?, Cora? Castillo? Perez?

It’s all speculation but it was a sudden move which came out of nowhere. I am sure Pat will fill me in on what ever he knows if anything and I will post what ever I can about it.

What you want to keep in mind here is that Fernando Martinez or Ruben Tejada have been placed on waivers, so neither can be traded at this time. But Jeff Francoeur has cleared waivers, and can now be dealt to any team. Then there is Cora who is thisclose to having his 2011 option vested. Then there are Jesus Feliciano, Mike Hessman, Luis Castillo, and Oliver Perez all of whom were put on trade waivers this past Thursday. Thing about those wavers is they would expire on Monday, and then the Mets could trade each of them to any team.
BUT, if one or more players are claimed by another team and the Mets pull that player back, that player cannot be placed on waivers again.

Got all that??? Good, I will be back when I learn anymore,
but things are finally starting to happen in Metsville

I don't often get to see the Mets on TV living in Phillieville, but last night I watched most of the game.

I can see why you're Ike fans! I hope he gets to stay and have a good long career in Queens.

You know how I feel about David Wright. All good. I'm glad he's ending his slump.

All that said...I still want the team in red hats to win. It's in the bone, I'm afraid.

Ok so I promised I wold be back with the info and here it is.
Cora is out, Jesus Feliciano goes to AAA and Ruben Tejada and Fernando Martinez are back. Tejada will replace Cora which is a move I like, he went a little off the rails when he was last here but I could de his potential in spite of his three errors in the field. Another shot for Martinez, who I have always liked even though he has been in consist and of curse he does seem to be accident prone, many many injuries. But his career batting average is .255 with 12 homers in 68 games at Buffalo, but lately he exploded there and was hitting .437 when he got called back to the Mets
So what will this accomplish, who knows but anything is better than nothing at this point.Tejada and Martinez are young and hungry and should help us.

Shame about last night, Niese pitched very well only to have a usually reliable Parnell blow it all up. Nice rally try in the eighth with the help of Mike Hessman but too much blood had spilled out of that 8th binning.

Santana tonight Lets Go Mets.

Awesome seeing Johan pitching like Johan he was just fantastic, shutting out the Phillies through 7 1/3 and allowing only 5 hits and 3 walks, striking out 6. So anyone know why Johan was taken out in the eighth? Did I miss something or was Manual just being Manual again, you know that guy who mismanages er I mean manages the Mets. Why we are on that subject why was Pagan bunting? Jerry? Was that you again? Dude, Angel is one of our best hitters please stop asking him to give himself up with Jose Reyes on first so often. Let Reyes do what he does, steal a base and let Angel bring him home.
Another nice job by K-Rod, I have to say that cause he scares me some times.
But my feel good moment came with our once again hero Jeff Francoeur, who blasted a solo homerun to give us the only run we would need to win. How sweet is it to see Frenchie contributing once again with his bat as well as his glove. I mean it just warms my heart
Cute story, Alex Cora, when he said bye to Frenchie after being cut from the club, also said to Jeff “hit a rocket” that night against the Philadelphia Phillies. Jeff later said “I didn’t promise him a home run I’m not Babe Ruth, but I promised him I’d try.”
Frenchie has to keep himself alive theses days, first he lost his everyday job at right field, but when Bay went down he pretty much was guaranteed fairly steady work out there. But then the Mets realized there was no real date in the near future for Bays return brought K-Mart back up and Frenchie will have to platoon with him. What did Dangerfield always say…I get no respect?

I am pitching today and will miss what should be a good one. R.A. Dickey faces Roy Halladay. Thanks goodness for DVRs

Ruben Tejada made his mark on his first day back with a couple of sparkling plays, I dono if Grandma Castillo would have made those. Welcome back dude.

In Cyclone news The New York-Penn League National League All-Star Team will be loaded with em this year, due of course to the outstanding job they are doing this year under Wally Backman. 33 wins so far with outstanding offensive and without question some of the top pitchers in the league.
There will be eight Cyclones players on the All-Star Team, which by the way is more than any other team in the league, and the most All-Star representatives in one year in franchise history. Players include, pitchers Yohan Almonte, Ryan Fraser and Angel Cuan 3rd Base Joe Bonfe, Center Fielder Darrell Ceciliani, 1st B Jeff Flagg, Short Rylan Sandoval, and of course my main man Right Fielder Cory Vaughn. In addition, the Cyclones coaching staff, manager Wally Backman, pitching Coach Rick Tomlin, hitting Coach Benny DiStefano, Coach Joel Fuentes, and trainer Deb Iwanow will also represent the National League, giving the Cyclones a total of 13 All-Star representatives. :=D:

The game will be held on Aug.17 my heat is already pumpin faster just thinking about it. I mean come on guys you know how I feel about my Cyclones :D

VEry good job by Johan last nite! I, like you Sonny, am a little curious as to why Manual lifted Santana. I'm not sure I'd have done the same thing. KRod did well enuff to end the Phils rally, and pitched a very nice and neat ninth inning. Santana helped himself defensively on the bunt by Polanco, fielding it, and throwing a dart to Wright to get the force at third.

Sorry to see Cora go, one of the true professionals in that clubhouse. I know his batting skills have dimished, but he's had a few clutch hits and knows how to play the game. Was impressed by his addressing Pelfrey and media folks who were joking it up after one of the losses in Atlanta. His clublhouse presence will be missed. Let's hope FMart and Tejada provide a spark for a sometimes listless offense. At least we only needed one run last nite. Let's go Mets!!!
