Clearly our pen is already overworked, our starters are not going deep enough into games and the guys we do have in he pen ain’t cuttin it. Before we reach the point of Saucy renaming the bull pen “poison pen”

something had to be done.To that end Sandy Alderson today made some changes.
Two quick roster moves, Blaine Boyer, who allowed four runs in the eleventh inning yesterday and raised his ERA to 10.80 overall with the Mets, has been designated for assignment to make room for Jason Isringhausen, who had a great spring and is one guy I wanted back. I commented yesterday how he could replace Parnell but this will work for me as well. In addition The Mets also sent Lucas Duda down to Triple-A Buffalo and recalled Ryota Igarashi, who I am not too thrilled about after the way he pitched last season but we did see improvement in spring training. I saw him in Buffalo last week and he pitched really well in fact he has pitched twice now and hasn’t allowed a run in 3 1/3 innings with one save
This means The Mets will carry thirteen pitchers until Jason Bay is ready to return from the disabled list, I kinda hope Boyer makes it through waivers because could be in a useful ground ball righty, in spite of what we saw yesterday. I just have a special warm spot in my heart for pitchers.
Isringhausen and Igarashi will have to be added to the 40-man roster. With this move when I add it up with my fingers and toes I still only get 39 players on the 40-man roster.
It will be fun to see if Izzy wears Jason Bays number today, I recall in spring training, Bay offered his No. 44 jersey to him, Izzy told Jason ok if I ever make the team. Speaking of Bay he is now pain-free and could rejoin the team before the end of the week. When that happens Igarashi who still has options will be sent back.
Lets not dwell on the ugly from yesterday and focus on the good and of course that was Chris Young Who went 7 strong innings, giving up only one itty bitty single, and what about all those pop ups, is he the king of that or what. The best fun of those was poor ole Jayson Werth, fouling out behind home plate three times. But after Young left the wheels fell off, Oh wait...I said I would not go there…not today
Lemme just say I felt bad after the great job he did Young didn’t get the decision.
Come on guys he was outstanding throwing strikes and making Citi Field his own with all those fly balls. This kid could be this years RA Dickey I’m tellin ya
With the bad taste of that Nats series out of my mouth I look forward to the next four game series against the Rockies. Tonight Big Pelf returns
The Rockies do not play well at Citi in fact they stink here. So what do we have to do to keep that going?
First of all of course is Pelf, the good news is that Mike has made seven career starts against the Rockies. In five of them, including two last season, he allowed no runs.
I am hopeful Pelf will be able to throw his split-finger fastball for strikes. I wanna see him return to throwing splitters out of the strike zone and the Rockies hitters swinging at them.
Catcher Ronny Paulino, who had just finished serving a 50-game suspension for testing positive for a banned substance, was placed on the 15-day disabled list yesterday
Lastly are we all sick of Scott Hairston yet and isn’t it time to send him packing and bring Nick Evans back up? Nick continues to tear it up in Buffalo. Come on Sandy make it happen, Nick is clearly the better player, suck it up you made a mistake choosing Scott over Nick, we forgive you now fix it.
