New York Mets 2011

Pelfrey has been very unimpressive in his two starts this season. He appears to be psychologically challenged for whatever reason. Perhaps he really needs to be a back of the rotation guy, maybe even in a less hyper environment than NYC. I know he pitched very well for long stretches last year, he seems to have reverted again. I'm willing to give him some time, but he needs to step up, particularly this year. Mets staged a great rally only to be undone by some "cheap" hits, and Boyer's inability to close out the inning after Victorino's check swing double. Would love to see Niese outpitch Doc Halliday today. Let's go Mets!!

Yep Sonny, only 1 sweetie. :)

SONNY...TELL YOUR SNY FOLKS TO GET WORKING ON IT WITH DISH!! I am going crazy without baseball and if i have to watch NESN one more time, i am going to kill myself!! NESN is so boring and terrible to watch! Those guys on NESN PUT you to sleep! I miss my Cohen, Hernandez, and Darling team!!

I WILL EVEN LOVE DAVID WRIGHT AGAIN IF YOU GET THEM CRACKING LOL;)

Syam, don't know what Pelfrey's problem is.He is far too lacking in mental toughness to be a real second guy in the rotation, though he does have the talent and has shown flashes of brilliance. He needs a lot of work,he really doesn't seem to be confident enough to know what works best for him,and his habit of showing visible perturbment when he gets frazzled is not encouraging at this point in his career.Unlike Oliver Perez Mike does seem to have the ability to right himself, but he has to trust himself a lot more than he does....I don't see the Mets shelling out big bucks to keep him when his mental toughness and maturity on the mound is so poor.

God,Niese was bad....look,I think confidence is a great thing and I'm never going to stop believing in my heart in my Mets, but people need to step up and pick up the slack and the ownership situation has to be resolved relatively soon for the psyche of not just the fans but the organization.I just want the Mets to be flexible in redeveloping its farm system, trade possibilities and free agent additions in the near future.I don't want to buy a pennant,I don't want to grab every superstar on the planet but I'd like the Mets organization to get its act together and have a purpose. No more dysfunction and passing around the buck, but being an organization that knows its stuff,is respected and has a definitive philosophy towards becoming a regular contender. For the New York market, that's all we should ask for.We deserve after all the crap of the past few seasons(and seriously, going back into the Steve Phillips era of dysfunction. It's not new the Wilpons allowed the inmates to run the asylum.)

I haven’t posted in a few days been busy with baseball. I wanna thank all of you who have kept this thread alive. Love the spirit of 86 Saucy ..|

I went to buffalo for the Bisons home opener and Citi Field for the Mets. The Bisons and Mets both lost their opening day games but there is just something very exciting and fun about those events, it’s the start of the news season and we are all full of hope and anticipation for a great year. The opening day crowd was especially kind to one of my favorite people, Daniel Murphy who got one of the biggest cheers and welcomes, man that felt good. I was shocked and disappointed by the boos given to Pelfrey which I thought was rude and inappropriate
I understood the negative reaction to K-Rod after the crap he pulled but Pelf is a great guy who has issues that he needs to work out, the boos were uncalled for and counter productive, shame on all you Mets fans who participated in that unsportsmanlike behavier, he did not desrve that the season is only one day old.

How about that 88 year old Ralph Kinnner throwing out the first pitch perfect over the plate.
What a national treasure he is.

Just to clear the air about RA Dickey and his problem start. What happened if you haven’t heard is that he split a fingernail during the game which affected his feel for the knuckler; Dickey ripped the nail on his right index finger on his second-to-last pitch of the first inning. That’s why you prolly noticed that slow knuckleballer he threw to Ryan Zimmerman, he was trying to minimize the stress on the nail. Turned out good cause he did get Ryan and did you catch the smile and the are you kidding me look on Ryan’s face after the pitch? Priceless.
It was then that Josh Thole learned about Dickey’s problem. Dickey told Thole that he did not want to alter his pitching style like throwing 84 mph fastballs instead which would basically give in to the injury.
You guys should understand that the knuckleball is what is called a feel pitch. When it comes out of your hand, there’s kinda a special feeling to it and what ya have to do is try and repeat that feel over the course of a game. Usually it’s no big deal to a knuckleballer like Dickey but he had to file the nail that really close to the skin I this case with the injury he did not have a fingernail to dig in. So think of it as a fingernail on one finger and skin on the other finger, which just does not work well for a consistent knuckleball.
RA said he will be fine for his next start.

gtru, I wish the news was better regarding SNY and Dish network bit the fact remains that there is no agreement seen as happening anytime soon.SNY is now taking swings at Dish with a multimedia marketing campaign pretty much putting all the blame on the Dish network and telling folks to switch providers.
Have you called SNYs number 1-888-9-KEEPSNY.?

Spirit of 86 is great I think because it's the 25th anniversary this year of that world championship Mets team and I'm really hoping and cautiously optimistic we've got the people in place in management and a nice foundation of players to move towards another great era for the Mets. It's been difficult as a Mets fan over the past few years but hopefully with the good news that there are a lot of deep pocketed investors interested in getting a share of the club from the Wilpons and infusing the organization with cash and flexibility, maybe by June a deal can get done it's believed. So sonny,I still have the faith we're going to return to being respected contenders again,if not immediately not too distantly. And we will be a tough club for any team to play....that's Terry Collins philosophy and the Mets players have eagerly bought into it.We'll have bumps but come September I think fans will believe the ride was worth it,a great first step forward.

Think Murph would love those props you gave him,sonny...it is really interesting though about his reception being pretty overwhelming.Wish I could have seen it,had to work but what do you think has imprinted such a passionate impression of Murph into the fans? From what you have said about him though,Murph is worth it...a real competitor who'll do what it takes to win, even if his role in the scheme of things is limited.

Thanks for clearing up about RA Dickey's problems in controlling his knucleball...as you said it is definitely a "feel" pitch, and without a fingernail obviously there's going to be much more inconsistency controlling it.Like you said,he'll be fine.I'm kinda mixed about the Pelf booing...I understand the Mets fans frustrations with Johann Santana's injury and Pelf needing to pick up some of the slack. But he's not clueless like Ollie Perez,he does need to become more confident in his abilities....doesn't seem to know what he wants to be on the mound.I think he's gotta establish his sinker and use his other pitches on a complimentary basis. You're more of a pitching guy so I'm sure you know better what he should be doing but Pelf has shown at times how good he can be...gotta bottle that confidence and especially when his stuff or command isn't great he's got to find a way to compete and overcome that. That's what the really good pitchers do,they find a way to beat you.

Know sonny and all our Mets fans had to have enjoyed the 8-4 win last night against the Nats...big clutch hits finally, gutty effort by Chris Capuano and a great job by the bullpen.I'm sure sonny will have a lot to say about it;)...many good things after a rough stretch the previous three games.

I am looking to leave Dish if they dont get their act together! It sucks, because i cant comment on anything and have to see all ur comments to see what happened.

BTW, is anyone going to attened the Vegas Nights on june 2nd?

Yup Saucy yesterday’s game was fun many positives but the most important other than Capunano has to be Beltran who was his ole self at the plate again from both sides with two home runs, that was great to see and just what we needed. His base running seemed ok to me not quite the magnificent stride we are used to not just yet but very good never the less, So a big positive all around for Carlos. Collins said this morning he still pans on giving Carlos the day game after a night game off today which I think is smart. As to the pitching, Capunamo had a decent outing save those two home runs; he did strike out 8 and only walked one, staying around the plate and tossing his excellent changeup Capuano was the first Mets starter in the last four games to reach the sixth inning. nice to see him and Young both pitching well. It was impressive to see Chris get out of a bases-loaded jam in the third by striking out Ramos and getting Ankiel pop out to shallow left field, for sure a turning point of the game. With Santana out and Pelf working out his issues we need very badly for the backend of the rotation to come thru and so far so good.
Bobby Parnell continues to concern me a bit with his command which once again was inexistent, worse last night was he couldn’t place his slider anywhere near the plate. Why is that a problem? Well, when you throw a slider you don’t want to throw it for a strike, trick is you want to make it look like it could be a strike. that slider he threw was way off. The good news was his fastball which I saw at around 97 MPH. It’s too soon to say and I want to give him more time but he does have minor league option and we do have Izzy if Parnell does not improve. It did not sit well with me to se him pulled and replaced by K-Rod in the 8th. Terry Collins did say he is sticking with Bobby Parnell as eighth-inning guy as well he should at least for now.
Taylor Buchholz pitched really well, normally I would say he should have stayed in to pitch the 8th but we gotta see what Parnell can do.

Now I wanna talk about my boy Ike Davis and that what was I thinking play, you know the one. I want to hear Ike talk about exactly what was going on in his head before I write any more about that, but he is still going to make mistakes he is very young in this game. He could not be any worse at base running than Pagan was; my goodness he did everything but run the bases backwards and look at him now. Ike will learn from that, and let’s not forget that he has driven in a run in 7 of the Mets’ first 8 games, and ya had to admit last night he had the most impressive extra-base hit of the game, a triple in the sixth that scored Beltran and Wright, it was Ikes. second career triple. Then it was our boy Murph who did what he almost always does in a pinch hit role and brought the Ike man home. Nice Murph.

So today we see if Chris Young can repeat that awesome last outing beating the Phillies, 7-1, Can’t wait to see him at the plate again after those three hits last time. I dono if I mentioned last week that Young became the first Mets pitcher to get three hits in a game since Tom Glavine back in 2005. Oh and he can pitch well too. :D

Gtru I wil keep my ears open about that SNY Dish mess and let you know if I hear anything

Clearly our pen is already overworked, our starters are not going deep enough into games and the guys we do have in he pen ain’t cuttin it. Before we reach the point of Saucy renaming the bull pen “poison pen” ;) something had to be done.To that end Sandy Alderson today made some changes.
Two quick roster moves, Blaine Boyer, who allowed four runs in the eleventh inning yesterday and raised his ERA to 10.80 overall with the Mets, has been designated for assignment to make room for Jason Isringhausen, who had a great spring and is one guy I wanted back. I commented yesterday how he could replace Parnell but this will work for me as well. In addition The Mets also sent Lucas Duda down to Triple-A Buffalo and recalled Ryota Igarashi, who I am not too thrilled about after the way he pitched last season but we did see improvement in spring training. I saw him in Buffalo last week and he pitched really well in fact he has pitched twice now and hasn’t allowed a run in 3 1/3 innings with one save
This means The Mets will carry thirteen pitchers until Jason Bay is ready to return from the disabled list, I kinda hope Boyer makes it through waivers because could be in a useful ground ball righty, in spite of what we saw yesterday. I just have a special warm spot in my heart for pitchers.
Isringhausen and Igarashi will have to be added to the 40-man roster. With this move when I add it up with my fingers and toes I still only get 39 players on the 40-man roster.
It will be fun to see if Izzy wears Jason Bays number today, I recall in spring training, Bay offered his No. 44 jersey to him, Izzy told Jason ok if I ever make the team. Speaking of Bay he is now pain-free and could rejoin the team before the end of the week. When that happens Igarashi who still has options will be sent back.

Lets not dwell on the ugly from yesterday and focus on the good and of course that was Chris Young Who went 7 strong innings, giving up only one itty bitty single, and what about all those pop ups, is he the king of that or what. The best fun of those was poor ole Jayson Werth, fouling out behind home plate three times. But after Young left the wheels fell off, Oh wait...I said I would not go there…not today
Lemme just say I felt bad after the great job he did Young didn’t get the decision.
Come on guys he was outstanding throwing strikes and making Citi Field his own with all those fly balls. This kid could be this years RA Dickey I’m tellin ya ..|

With the bad taste of that Nats series out of my mouth I look forward to the next four game series against the Rockies. Tonight Big Pelf returns
The Rockies do not play well at Citi in fact they stink here. So what do we have to do to keep that going?
First of all of course is Pelf, the good news is that Mike has made seven career starts against the Rockies. In five of them, including two last season, he allowed no runs.
I am hopeful Pelf will be able to throw his split-finger fastball for strikes. I wanna see him return to throwing splitters out of the strike zone and the Rockies hitters swinging at them.

Catcher Ronny Paulino, who had just finished serving a 50-game suspension for testing positive for a banned substance, was placed on the 15-day disabled list yesterday

Lastly are we all sick of Scott Hairston yet and isn’t it time to send him packing and bring Nick Evans back up? Nick continues to tear it up in Buffalo. Come on Sandy make it happen, Nick is clearly the better player, suck it up you made a mistake choosing Scott over Nick, we forgive you now fix it. :grrr:

Following yesterdays bullpen disaster, I was wondering what the outcome would be, more like who's going to go, because Izzy will be here. Young pitched a whale of a game yesterday, feel horrible he didn't get the win. Capuano pitched effectively on Saturday, so the starter at the back end are holding up their end. Hopefully Pelfrey can get on track tonite, and Parnell can get some command. As Sonny stated earlier, his slider was horrendous the other nite. Can't believe all the called third strikes the Mets are taking, and the walks the pitchers are giving up. Need to get that fixed pronto! Lets go Mets!!

Now sonny, what made you think I'd be ripping the "poison pen";)Boyer especially has been dreadful,he was so promising in spring training though.Sonny is a pitching guy in paarticular, and I'm also hopeful Boyer can clear waivers and redeem himself getting back on track in Buffalo.Love thay Izzy is back, and should be able to stabilize the bullpen whether Collins uses him to set up or as a seventh inning guy.Great to hear how Igarashi is really pitching lights out ball and should help the bullpen greatly.

Capuano and Young have been really good additions...they were both low risk, high reward being injury prone in the past but when healthy showing not only the ability to pitch but also both are extremely intelligent guys who have poise and a plan when they're out there. Now if we can only get Pelf right,we may not have a dominant staff but one that certainly hold their own with anyone...we just gotta hit more consistently.

Another blowup by the bullpen, can't get guys out, throw away routine outs, where have I seen this before.....Izzy was good for his two batters, too bad he can't pitch every nite for 3 innings. Reyes and his two triples were super, and DWright's HR to right. Just not enuff offense to overcome the pitching and fielding deficiencies. Something's gotta give. Pelfrey was a tad better, still throwing tooo many pitches to get thru his innings of work. A new day, hopefully a better outcome.

OK so we let another one go a way but at least there was some improvement with Pelf yeah I know hardly what you expect form an ace starter but at least it was an improvement small as it was. I am not thinking Perez when i see him now maybe Maine but not Ollie. He was charged with four runs three of em earned, on six hits and four walks and wait for it….he struck out three. ;)
He for sure made a step in the right direction from that mess last two starts, there were his usually boog-a-boos like the walks and the number of pitches he tossed in five innings, still it was a step in the right direction. Next time he needs to keep that going and maybe pitch deeper into the game. He did as I had hoped concentrate on his two-seam fastball and splitter I just felt he was concentrating depending even on his lesser pitches. Actually I saw very very few curveballs or sliders yesterday.
Parnell who pitched in the 8th with the game tied 4-4. And one wild pitch and lousy throw by Parnell to Thole followed by a two run homer and the wheels began to once again fall of our train. Once again he still can’t seem to throw strikes, and continued to give up home runs.
Did anyone yu guys see how dazed and confused Bobby seemed on the mound? Yeah that boy needs to go back to AAA for a while, he simply has no sense of command sad cause there is that 95 mph fastball
Ryota Igarashi did the same thing messin up a throw to the plate on what should have been an inning-ending 1-2-3 double play, Look like he rushed it to me.
Jason Isringhausen got a nice ovation from the crowd and did a nice job of pitching out of a jam left behind by Tim Byrdak in the seventh pitching a scoreless inning in relief. Good to have him back…really good.

Um Carlos Beltran what was up with those sunglasses at night? Maybe those lights a problem, Willie Harris looked bad when he lost Jonathan Herrera’s liner. Should we look into that

DWright continues to hit well including that two-run homer in the eighth but it was too little, too late. Ike Davis is also on a tear yesterday he became the first player in Mets history to drive in at least one run in nine of the team’s first 10 games of a season.

But of course ya had to figure for me the kid I enjoyed seeing the most was my boy Murph who made a very cool play in the field at second base, he looked sharp at second base throwing out a runner at the plate as well as that very nice dive to his left to catch that groundball followed by a neat throw to first base in time for the out. I should point out it was not the first time he made a play like that he made one just like it in the Dominican Republic. He was hoping to do that again this time with someone watching :D
I am thinking with nights like he had Monday Murph will earn some of Brad Emaus’ playing time. He also delivered an opposite-field single, stole second which allowed him, thanks to some smart base running by Wright getting caught in that pick off keeping the Rockies concentration sway from Murph who was able to score.:=D:
Murph has said he owes a lot to Chip Hale who has really been helping him out quite a bit.

Tonight it’s Jonathon Niese against Esmil Rogers.

This picture of Murph at the end of the game says it all, I don’t thing I need to tell you what he said into that helmet.
And Nick Evans…why?? Well just because we need him now in Flushing and not in Buffalo

Love your perspective sonny, though I was a bit more miffed at Pelf than you...yea,comparatively,it was a better effort, great for a fourth or fifth guy in the rotation but his command still is very shaky. He can only go deeper into games if he's not getting behind so much and though the bullpen failed him in the sixth,he was the guy who got em into the messy situation to begin with.Parnell said all the right things after the game but he really needs to get sharp too.Mistakes happen but too many mistakes are happening with the Mets....they are not a club deep or strong enough to allow for those kinds of mistakes. We need more than okay or so-so from Pelf or forget it this season though, bottom line.

Yep,David Wright hitting his homer to right field is even more encouraging than simply hitting the homer in the eighth.Hitting the ball with authority to all fields is the David we all know and love!Ike Davis really is becoming an RBI force and not trying to drive everything but hit it where it's pitched...like he said not thinking too much at the plate with runners on,just being aware and focusing.Murph almost had that infield hit but Troy Tuliwotski has an incredible arm...and damn he showed his power off Parnell. His defensive plays were really nice and his bat if given playing time is gonna ring much more consistently.Emaus hasn't been hitting much, let's see what Terry Collins does in how much he wants to play Murphy.

Just too bad that Tuliwotski play kept Jose Reyes who had tripled from scoring...two triples for Jose in the name and nothing more exciting than seeing him fly around the bases. He made an unfortunate error that cost the Mets but when he gets going, that lineup can be so much fun....Jason Bay apparently won't be back in two weeks as hoped and the Mets need some more people to help Beltran,Wright and Davis score some runs with our wildly inconsistent pitching.

Sonny advertising for Murph and Nick Evans?Surprising, ain't it?!;)Certainly Nick can give us what Hairston hasn't and the Mets need a little more bench flexibility.Think we gotta see who's going to remain in the bullpen before anyone else like Nick is called up but he's certainly someone who can help and will play hard and professionally.

So we got rained on yesterday which means a double header on Thursday
The pitching will stay as it was set up with Jon Niese on Wednesday, R.A. Dickey in Game 1 on Thursday and Chris Capuano in Game 2 on Thursday. Here is the thing thou, with six games now in a five-day stretch, the Mets will need a spot starter Sunday, maybe sooner. So what happens will be interesting. One move could be to send down Igarashi before the game on Sunday and bring up Dillon Gee, that way Gee can be returned to Buffalo for a position player to up our bench back to the standard five. They’re already carrying 13 pitchers, so if they call up Gee, they’ll need to send a pitcher like Igarashi down. Or they might just go with D.J. Carrasco.

Sandy Alderson has now said he does not expect Jason Bay to be activated from the disabled list until at least April 26, according to Sandy these injuries are hard to predict. yawn...snooze.. zzzzz

Catcher Ronny Paulino also is expected to return April 26

Daniel Murphy was told by Terry Collins that he would reward him for the great job on Monday and play him again last night….then it rained. :( But it’s all good cause he is in the lineup at second base tonight. Collins told reporters he is not yet ready to call this a platoon. Instead, right now, Murphy gives the team best chance to score runs, as Brad Emaus is hitting just .167 in his last 12 bats. The only boog a boo here is that with the current four-man bench and Willie Harris starting in LF, it would be difficult not to have Murphy on the bench. Otherwise, there's no LH pinch-hitter, (Hairston, Nickeas, Hu and Emaus are all righties) if Murphy starts at 2B.

RA Dickey said his torn finger nail has healed, RA makes sure his diet includes plenty of dairy. He drinks lots of milk. He believes that calcium helps strengthen his nails. He also eats chicken. Apparently Hair and nails are really a combination of protein overflow, who knew :D

You all remember Carlos Delgado, well he is officially retiring, he had 473 career home runs
Good luck Carlos you were one of the good ones.

Yea sonny, just read about Carlos Delgado retiring before...had couple of great years for the Mets, one of the best power hitters at first base ever.

Call it a platoon or not hope Murph can stay in the lineup.Like you indicated, who knows how soon we get Jason Bay back.

Interesting tidbit about RA Dickey, hadn't heard that before.Glad his nail is healed and he can get back to feeling comfortable on the mound.

We're in the games,we just can't pull even...losing 5-4 tonight.Should Collins have let Niese pitch to Tulowitzski? He hurt us Monday night, and hurt us again tonight slugging a three run homer off of Niese.Bullpen kept us in the game afterwards but whether its the pitching or baserunning or hitting into bad luck or not taking advantage offensively it's one thing or another that finds us on the short end of the stick. It's early but I'd just love to see a streth of games where the vibes are better.

Murph had a big RBI double and was robbed on a great play at second but most encouragingly continues to play good defense, even making a stellar play or two.Loved late in the game his diving stop and nifty throw to Reyes to rob a hit,he plays that way at second and he'll get plenty of time there as long as he hits as he should.I know sonny must have gotten out of his chair on that play,it was terrific!

Going to at least the first game of the doubleheader tomorrow with my brother, hope we can see the second as well.RA Dickey pitches the first game...think Chris Capuano pitches the nightcap.Chris Young has a bit of tendinitis so he's been pushed from Friday to Sunday tentatively.Hope it's not serious...guess they have to bring up someone like Dillon Gee for Friday, know he's one of those in the past year sonny really likes who could work in a stopgap role.Just wish we can enjoy a full all out effort by a healthy team but with Bay gone at least for the next two weeks and who knows when Johann Santana will return we can ill afford to have more people on the sidelines.

Yeah Saucy I was pretty pumped up after watching Murph make yet another great play at second last night. No one works harder than he does and he will just keep getting better and better. I hope we will now see a platoon with Emaus (whom I also like) at second base. For sure Murph will play against the righties. He is in the lineup again today in game one. His hard work in the Dominican winter ball and his early arrival well before most guys at spring training impressed many especially Collins.

Speaking of Terry I can not for the life of me understand why he pitched to Troy Tulowitzki in the fifth inning with two runners in scoring position. For the most part I like Collins aggressive managing but he totally dropped the ball there. Collins felt that when you walk guys you end up “setting up big innings”, and to some extent he is right, but Tulowitzki? No way was that a good decision.
It started out ok with the first pitch which was a down-and-in cutter but then he messed it up pitching up and away, it was off the plate and Troy put a good swing on it and bye bye see ya. Never shuda pitched him there it was not as some have said too early in the game to walk him intentionally

Yup saucy Chris Young was pushed back to Sunday due to bicep tendinitis. DJ Carrasco will probably start on Friday, dono for sure yet. I hope this thing is not going to blow up into something big, with Young’s injury history ya have to worry, but he says he will be fine. It’s just the way it goes for us, we get a strong pitcher like Young and kaboom something goes wrong we are just cursed that way.

I have also been told that Blaine Boyer cleared waivers, but, instead of accepting an assignment in Triple-A Buffalo, he elected to become a free agent.

Bad news from my guys in the minors In Buffalo last nightFernando Martinez injured his right hamstring and missed his second consecutive game, that kid just can’t stay healthy. Darrell Ceciliani was put on the disabled list with a hamstring strain; he said he felt it after running out a grounder to first base.

After last nights loss Terry Collins got the guys together for a very brief meeting, He basically let them have it; there was no mincing of words he told them he was tired of watching them fail to respond from taking a punch. For the first time the guys saw Collins go ballistic, he was especially pissed at how they responded to a three-run homer by Troy Tulowitzki. He told them that it was time to start winning games; we need to get it going and do the things we haven’t done. Terry went on to say that the team is far better than its record indicates, but the pitchers have been walking far too many batters, and the batters are not getting hits in critical situations. He also stopped short of questioning his players’ effort, and that maybe the blame for the early-season malaise lies with him. He feels that it is a group thing, and maybe he’s not getting them ready good enough. Maybe they need to do a better job in our meetings, our pregame meetings when we talk about what we’ve got to do. Terry firmly believes that the Mets’ problems were a matter of execution, not talent, and was hoping that the players will respond.
Your lips to Gods ears Terry

Thanks sonny for that update....frustrating about Fernando Martinez.Poor kid has to wonder what he has to do to stay healthy. And hoping Darren Ceciliani's hamstring injury isn't serious, hate to see any setbacks for anyone, especially someone with his ability and potential.Chris Young from what I saw looks ready to go for Sunday, the biceps tendinitis not a serious problem.

Saw both games of the doubleheader yesterday with my brother.I'm telling you, being a Mets fan can send you to therapy! So many mistakes, bad defensive plays....the rally in the ninth inning yesterday of the first game, after Hairston hit that two run homer to bring it to 6-5....what a tease, everyone was ready to explode, jump out of their seats if the Mets could somehow tie or pull it out.Harris gets on,Thole gets his second hit of the game, after Jose Reyes makes an out Murphy walks....David Wright JUST missed driving that ball out of there, just got under that Huston Street offering. So deflating when it was caight on the warning track. But that's this year's Mets for you....they send you on a qwild roller coaster of emotions but always seem to let you down in the end.Terry Collins can scream til he's blue in the face...you can bring a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

RA Dickey wasn't sharp, two bad misplays in the outfield by Angel Pagan and Scott Hairston losing the ball contributed to runs scoring against him.Giving up that three run homer to Gonzalez really hurt though....and Parnell, serving up immediately Troy Tulowitzski's third homer in three games(he'd hit a fourth homer in the next game...frustrating.You can't keep giving away runs).Gap was just one run too much for the Mets to make up.

Chris Capuano really disappointed me.Not sharp at all...and again mistakes let the Mets down.9-4 final, just a mess of a game. The relief wasn't good and so many more defensive lapses.Second game we never made a run after falling behind.Crowd on such a beautiful day was pretty low.Big Stretches of empty seats. If there were over 20,000 I'd be amazed.A beautiful day,a beautiful place but my brother and I saw two really disappointing efforts.

No loss today for the Mets...game against Atlanta in Atlanta got rained out. They play two tomorrow....yep another old fashioned one admission double header.Carrasco and Pelfrey...wish I could be optimistic but I don't know anymore with this club.Mets fans just want a club they can be proud of....not necessarily even a contender, though of course we want to be in a position to contend yearly, that's not the most important thing. We want an organization and a team that gives its all, plays passionately, does it the right way,and makes sure the opposing teams know win or lose, they are going to be in a fight....there will always be bad games, but the culture of the club should be to play every game to win,no more playing in a fog or allowing senseless mental and physical mistakes to constantly impact on the game.I don't know what it's going to take to make that happen.:(
