New York Mets 2011

Whew! What a post by Saucy, when you wind him up he really goes huh. :=D:
Poor baby must be all tuckered out. ;)
I don’t have time today to respond too much but I just had to jump in and thank Saucy for that great post.
I will comment more on that tomorrow

As for the thing he said about Matt Harvey you can bet he will be in Flushing before you know it.
Kevin Burkhardt is going to be talking about him and Mets farm director Adam Wogan in a little while on Mets hot stove before today’s afternoon game

Just a few updates, Angel Pagan went 1-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in his first major league rehab game yesterday. He played all nine innings in center field for Port St. Lucie. Pagan should be activated from the disabled list on Saturday after playing three games with St. Lucie.

No fear Saucy, Jason Bay will be back for Thursday’s Mets-Giants finale. He took a few days of for the birth of his kid who he named Garrett David Bay, no, not David after DWright but after Jason’s father. Lucas Duda goes back to Buffalo with Bay back.

With the return of Bay and Pagan we will loose a couple of players, besides Lucas Duda Jason Pridie goes as well and that bugs me a lot. Duda I have no problem with sending back down but not Pridie he should stay and they should get rid of Harris and he should take Hariston with him. When will the Mets admit they messed up getting these two and sending Evans to the minors, ya fucked up guys now would be a good time to fix it. Keep Pridie bring up Evans and say bye bye to Harris and Hariston.
Speaking about Hairston he will play this afternoon (oh goodie)
Murph gets the day of and Hu will play second. Paulino will catch for Pelfrey.

Bobby Parnell threw a side session on Wednesday and will throw in a game on Saturday,

Josh Thole will return to the lineup Friday

Pedro Beato on the DL so Left-hander Mike O'Connor has been promoted from Buffalo.

Gotta go pre game is about to start , Tomorrow I will have more time to post

Great to see Pelf pitch so well last night, who knows maybe this will be the start of something good, Ya had to love that awesome sinker. Even when he gave up that home run he realized for sure that the four-seam fastball was a mistake and quickly made the adjustment. His Mechanics were spot on putting the ball exactly where he wanted to go especially to the inner part of the plate. His fastball coming in on the inside of the plate was prolly the best I have seen him pitch
Seven and 2/3 innings not bad at all and I have to say I thought Paulino did a great job of catching that game
In fact Pelf credited Paulino for his leadership and game calling saying there were times he would have the slider grip already in my glove and Paulino would put the same pitch down, now that’s being on the same page. I did notice how Paulino came out to the mound after Pelfrey had just came up after the previous inning scoring from first base on Jose Reyes’s triple. What that tells me is that he figured Pelfrey was prolly tired from that long base run and wisely made a visit to the mound before the first batter to give him extra time to rest. Did you guys pick up on that? Nice. ;) Pelf did however decide on his sinker which he called for a lot in fact he used it heavily in the first few innings. I loved all those groundballs along with At least 5 strikeouts on the back of it. Would have been nice to see more swinging strikes with pitches other than the slider. What...am I asking to much good grief will I ever be satisfied?
Sorry about that, look he is improving I need to just be happy about that...oh and I am.:D
Still it was a good idea to give Thole a rest and see what pelf could do with Paulino. Thole will be back tonight hopefully he will rebound from the awful outings the last few weeks. He sure had his share of passed balls lately and that has got to change. It wasn’t just Pelf but just about every pitcher. Some are thinking the way he has been stabbing at pitches with his glove may have something to do with catching R.A. Dickey’s knuckleball. Makes a little sense if you think about it considering Josh’s lack of catching experience to fall back upon, which may be more susceptible to drifting away from regular technique. It would also account for his bad throws it has a lot to do with the way he positions himself when catching the Knuckler and being able to position himself to throw out runners. Or at least that’s what I’m thinking cause it’s a completely different approach catching knucklers, there is what you could say stabbing or grabbing stuff. If he can correct or adjust to that he will be fine maybe a good idea would be at least for now limit the amount of times he catches the knuckler even in bullpen. In fact stop catching Dickeys bullpen for a bit and see what happens. I dono just a thought.

Could K-Rod close just one game without all that drama, jezz he makes me nutz thought he was gonna blow that save yesterday. In all fairness he has been getting the job done I just wish he could do it without all the nail biting :grrr:

Jason Bay returned and did manage a double that was really just a gift from a Giants sloppy defense, he said he was “exhausted” coming back from the birth if his son. Please, didn’t his wife have the baby what is he so tired from? He needs to stop the excuses and start giving us the production we gave him all that money to do.

Can we just say how exciting is to se how well Beltran is playing? I mean whoda thought he would be return better than ever, OK so his base running is still a little weak but just a little his bat is on fiya. and has started 19 straight games in right field. Of course the dark side is he is making himself a trade commodity too. Beltran does have a no-trade clause, and at this point if he stays healthy I want him to finish the year with us, oh, and Reyes too.

Just as a follow up on the comments I made on the Mets sale, It is looking today like Steve Cohen is still the frontrunner to buy a minority share of the Mets. He had a dinner meeting scheduled with Mets owners for last night. I suppose if he is selected and chooses to invest in the team he could solve many Mets off-field problems, I just wonder about all the baggage he has like that subpoena from federal prosecutors probing insider trading on Wall Street. He has said that he would pick up the tab for SAC's costs in cooperating with the feds. See why I don’t write about this much…I’m a baseball guy dono nothing about all that other stuff and don’t wanna know just pay nice get the mess cleaned up and lets focus on winning ball games is all I’m sayin.

I was surprised to learn that Russ Adams has decided to retire with Triple-A Buffalo. I will wait until later in the week to discus our minor league guys I am going to Buffalo Thursday to spend the day with Nick, Kirk and the boys when they play the SWB Yankees and should have more to say about that after I get back.

Mets Dodgers start their three day series tonight with Niese on the mound and Thole catching, Murphy returns to second after the day off yesterday to give HU a shot against the lefty Giants pitcher. Happily Pridie is in centerfield again along with Bay at left and and Beltran playing right
I dono if they will show it on SNY tonight but the son of a NYC firefighter killed on 9/11 will throw out the first pitch, he met President Obama yesterday. I have to think that pulled at the strings of many a heart.I sure hope they show him throw out that pitch. No conformation from SNY yet but it’s a while to air time fingers crossed..

Jon Niese had his second consecutive strong outing. Sure maybe he didn’t have his good stuff early but I liked how he fought threw situations; he has not always done that so you have to think that is a very positive sign in his development. We saw a lot of curveballs including a couple that got him out of trouble, nice to see that he is getting more confident in his secondary pitches. His biggest regret was the walk to the opposing pitcher Hiroki Kuroda that ended up leading to the Dodgers’ third run. He was struggling with the feel of his pitches all night, but he used a trick Chris Capuano taught him which is chewing bubble gum and licking his fingers to help with the grip on his pitches. Then there was that pitch down-and-in to Rod Barajas, who crushed it for a solo homer (Rod just had to do that ;)
Nice job by our rested pen which is always great to see with no effect as yet with the loss of Pedro Beato . Igarashi worked out of a jam to end the sixth and Buchholz, Izzy and K-Rod locked it down nicely

Ike (start me up) Davis hit his seventh home run and is leading the team with 23 RBIs :=D:

Jose Reyes is on fiya which continued last night with two triples and a double.
But the man of the hour was my boy Jason Pridie and that three run homer and some outstanding out fielding as well He has filled in for Pagan masterfully and with Angel’s setback there is telling how long Jason will continue to play out there, no worries cause he is playing far better than Angel was both defensively and offensively. Pagan had reoccurring pain in that oblique and is getting tests today. Meantime Jason said he is “living in the moment” and not thinking about Pagans return. He has talked about the big adjustment playing centerfield in a big park, but he’s feeling more comfortable every day out there. Yeah babe we noticed ..|

You may have heard Keith Hernandez say after Jason hit that homer “I wonder what his wife will say about that swing” Well to clarify, Jason is not married but does live with his girlfriend Bianca who used to play softball, oh, and is now a hot model. So when Jason comes home after a game she likes to talk baseball with him and is very on him about his swing.
I saw her at the park and asked Jason “Dude is that your girl friend”
To which he said with a cat-that-ate the canary grin “yup” ;)

This morning Kevin Burkhardt jokingly said of Pagans oblique tenderness “I thought that was a steak choice”, to which I replied “nah..That’s what Bianca gave Jason last night after that game he played”.
Um, I Can’t repeat what Kevin said back ;)

Andre Ethier is a beast, man I love watching that kid play

I told you yesterday about that kid who lost his dad on 9/11 throwing out the first pitch for those who saw it say it was very moving cute too cause Thole was the catcher and the kid bounced the pitch to the plate and it went through Josh's legs. I gotta share this story abut Thole; apparently the dog he and his wife has is deaf so Josh is teaching it to understand sign language. Apparently according to Josh the pouch is caching on pretty fast. So now Josh wants to move on to the cat cause as Josh explains it his cat doesn’t come when you call him, it doesn’t listen to anyone or anything. Josh thinks the explanation is that he’s deaf. because certainly a cat would want to obey you, right? Oh Josh what has married life done to you :p

No conformation yet but Burkhardt said that Terry Collins is considering using Dillon Gee Sunday instead of Dickey. The reason is a sound one cause with Gee in the bullpen the Mets don't want his endurance to be lost and him to be unable to step in as a starting pitcher later if we need him.
This move could also give the entire rotation an extra day of rest, particularly Chris Young and Chris Capuano. Six man rotation, hey, why not

Tonight same lineup as last night tonight with Young on the mound

So we knew when he was signed Chris Young would be an injury risk. But he had pitched so well so far we kept our fingers crossed and hoped he would be ok. Well not so much, late yesterday like 20 mins to game time he reported that he “could not get loose” So Dillon Gee to the rescue. So what is up with Young? Well dono yet he is having an MRI this afternoon to find out but out looks like more of the flare-up of shoulder woes that have been bothering him for a while now. What he felt was tightness behind his right shoulder while he was long-tossing in the outfield before the game, apparently he never even made it to the bullpen mound to begin his warming up for the start. I knew he had received two anti-inflammatory injections this week alone so that did not sound good.
Soooooo Pat Misch got the call last night to come on down, the excited Pat is already here this morning. That kid needs to keep a bag packed 24/7 cause he never knows when they will call these days. ;) Assuming Young goes on the DL Pat will be activated.

AS for Gee he did struggled with control in the early innings, but the kid was able to escaped bases-loaded jams in the first and second innings. I was holding my breath for him cause I knew he was in an usually spot, they told him to show up today like he was going to start, that was somewhere around 4:30, but at that time it still looked like Young was going to be ok to pitch and so he went outside and threw and went out for BP getting ready to go to the pen thinking possible relief duty. But as soon as he got there they told him to start getting hot. So he knew he was going to pitch
I have to be really proud of that kid cause in early innings he was all over the place and didn't really have a good feel, question he is asking himself is was because of that short notice or because mentally it was just really tough on him going back and forth like that. So all in all with everything considered he did really well although he will tell you he was pretty lucky last night

Yesterday I said I loved watching Andre Ethier but I really liked us killing his hitting streak at 30 games which may have been just a bit sweeter. When Ethier asked said he compared what happened to a bad break up.

Fridays hero was Pridie and last night we had another one in Justin Turner and his two-run single in the eighth inning which ended up giving us the win. I mean come on how awesome was that? To see the look on that kids face was process I absolutely live for moments like the ones with Pridie and Turner. :D

Dickey pitches today with Paulino catching, Turner will be rewarded for yesterday playing second base although Murph prolly would not have played anyway cause of the Dodgers lefty on the mound today, Beltran gets the day game after a night game off and Hairston will play right field with Bay at left and of course Pridie in center

Goin for the sweep

Mets on a nice little roll, let's keep it up. THe starters, including a last minute start by Gee, have been good. Gee danced on the highwire all night, but kept the Mets in the game, and then some. KRod comes up with a 1-2-3 ninth, unreal. Today could be a tough task against Kershaw, but we'll see if Dickey can keep the LA hitters grounded, and hope for some clutch hitting by the Mets. Let's go METS!!

Not much in the way of "clutch hitting" today, apart from Reyes' 4th triple in as many days. He's been the surprise in the lineup this season.

Disappointing way to close a homestand but taking two of three from the Dodgers was definitely important, cettainly in a psuchological way so I'll take that...gotta beat struggling teams and as an organization no club other than the Mets represent struggling better than the Dodgers.RA Dickey is concerning me....he's healthy but just hasn't been as in control as the surprising breakout he had last year.He may have more stuff than most knucleballers but it is a hard pitch to master and get consistent feel from, and to his credit he knows he's gotta perform better. With Beato's bout with tendinitis in the bullpen,Jennry Mejia's season ending elbow injury and now with the troubling and potentially very serious shoulder problem for Chris Young we just seem the past few yeas to be so snakebit....anything and everything injury wise that can go wrong is going wrong. We have Dillon Gee and now Pat Misch who can compensate for now....and thankfully Brad Holt is reasserting himself after injuries and disappointing play the past couple of seasons after looking like a very fast riser in the Mets system his first full season. And Matt Harvey who as sonny recently said should be on the fast track to CitiField as well but Sandy Alderson said there isn't too much left behind in the system.

The idea of trading Jose Reyes looks more and more like a catch 22 for the Mets.....there is almost no one now who can approach his offense/defense,the dynamism and electricity he shows when healthy and just how much can you get for him when you can't guarantee the club that gets him is acquiring more than a rental? This organization needs depth,though...they had better draft players ready to make a quick jump to the majors this year, preferably starting pitching.Reyes if you could guarantee he would sign with the club he got traded to could net a good return but his signing before actually trying out free agency just doesn't look likely. He is so good, such a cornerstone you really can't trade him....certainly not for less than equal value.Another triple today....he is worth the price of admission but represents the Mets biggest bind...are they a rebuilding club with less than flexible finances or can they somehow with new investors hold the fort and at least play to contend as they deepen the organization?

Glad Jason Pridie wasn't sent down, damn love the way he plays and three home runs already...sonny always supported Jason an he is showing he can be a useful fourth outfielder at least once Angel Pagan gets healthy.Carlos Beltran didn't de

Strike another pitcher from the roster.... it appears Chris Young has suffered the same injury Johan has, and YOung had previously, a tear in the shoulder capsule. It's possible Johan will pitch for the MEts before Young does again. Oy! The hits just keep on comin'.

Feel bad for the kid....Chris is probably thinking what the hell can he do to stay healthy.Really smart young man,Princeton graduate and when he was healthy could really pitch.Don't know if he should hang em up or keep going after he competes rehabilation but he's gonna lose another year at least. It was known to be a gamble by the Mets Young could stay heathy, but it made sense....high risk, high reward but just didn't work out.Capuano just gave up a homer to Chris Ianetta, aptly described by Gary Cohen on SNY as a "laser beam"....rocketed low line drive over the left field wall, those kinds of balls can of course carry very well at Coors. Now 2-1 bottom of the seventh, pitching well but the home run definitely hurts.Murphy gets thrown out at home on the Carlos Beltran grounder which it appeared Murphy evaded the slapback lunging tag Ianetta made, and was clearly safe.Ianetta had not blocked the plate,if he did no way Murphy gets in safely but he didn't and replay after replay showed Murphy clearly did avoid the tag. Then Ike Davis rips a sharp grounder to Todd Helton at first who makes a good play....ten Mets left on base tonight. Not like we didn't have chances but I was sensing when Ike ripped it things wouldn't go
our way.

One thing I'd like sonny in particular to comment on...Sandy Alderson's apparent dissing of Pat Misch....when asked what the Mets had to call on for help with Dillon Gee up and doing a serviceable job,Alderson apparently made a shot at Pat Misch who clearly hasn't piched well so far this year but was very solid last year and he probably never saw pitch just coming into the organization last winter. He said to the effect there wasn't much behind Gee,and pointed to the lackluster performance so far by Misch even though with Chris Young's latest shoulder injury the Mets had to call up.Depth in the system isn't good in the starting pitching department and don't think other than the shaky DJ Carrasco there's much of anything that can even remotely help on the short term but still a revitalized Brad Holt, young stud potential in Matt Harvey we have a couple of guys who can help in a year or two.And hopefully Jennry Mejia can come back strongly next year, people with Tommy John surgery can still have strong careers.

This Chris Young thing has me totally bummed out, what is it with the Mets anyways, we get something good and it craps all over us. Chris is looking really like he will miss the full season. If he has the surgery, he would miss about 10 months, Santana had the same injury and had surgery in Sept. He is due to return to the majors in July, if all goes according to plan. Young had this injury last year and rehabbed. Young is done, expect an announcement from Ricco any time now. Dillon Gee will take his spot on the rotation we do not have a lot of options other than D.J. Carrasco. Pat Misch is in the major league bullpen right now. As long as he doesn't go too long without logging multiple innings, he could step in. The Triple-A rotation right now is D.J. Carrasco, Casey Fossum, the new kid Brian Sweeney out of the independent Atlantic League plus Josh Stinson and Chris Schwinden The debate about whether Jenrry Mejia ought to be a starting pitcher or reliever has been shelved for at least a year, now that Mejia has resolved to have Tommy John surgery. He had the second opinion and he will require ligament-replacement surgery in his right elbow to repair a fully torn medial collateral ligament. Santana should be on a mound any day; unless something happened in the past week I have not heard about. That puts him on a track to return around the All-Star break; at least if there are no setbacks.

Bobby Parnell has arrived in Buffalo to continue his rehab assignment, he tossed a scoreless inning for Single-A St. Lucie yesterday, and while hitting 97 mph with his fastball as he works back from numbness in his right middle finger related to clotting. Mets brass wanted Parnell to test the finger in a cool climate to ensure numbness does not resurface before activating him as soon as this weekend in Houston. Actually he could have been activated from the DL this weekend but, he might first play with Triple-A Buffalo

Our minor league system other than Buffalo is not anything to shout about due to several things like they did not flex their muscles and outspend others in the draft. Not like the year they took college relievers with their first two picks Eddie Kunz and Brant Rustich. I was surprised they didn’t take advantage oft Omar Minaya's connections in Latin America more than they did. I am excited about some interesting players like Matt Harvey and Matt den Dekker from the draft, and Wilmer Flores, Cesar Puello, Jeurys Familia who came from the international signing route. Of course we do have a ton of talent in Buffalo; I am headin up there on Thursday. "Captain" Kirk Nieuwenhuis is batting .316 and should make it this year as a September call-up, if not before. Actually if I were king I would send Harris, Hairston and Jason (can we send him back to Boston) Bay packing. I see a bright outfield future with Niewenhuis, Pridie and Evans and looking further I can also see Darrell Ceciliani Cory Vaughn and Wilfredo Tovar some of the outstanding kids now in Savannah, Ceciliani who returned from the DL and is back on the field , along with Wilfredo Tovar and Cory Vaughn

The biggest pitching hope for us in the minors right now has to be Matt Harvey, the top pick from 2010, Other than that one bad outing, he has flat-out dominated the Florida State League. I expect he will be moving to Double-A very soon. Reese Havens has not developed because of rib-cage injuries, Last I heard, he was fielding in instructional league games, but they did not want him hitting yet, but I see him in the infield for us with Wright Reyes Murph and Ike. I want to see some fast tracking on Harvey he is young but he clearly superior to A, AA and probably even AAA and will make it to the majors quickly. .

I dono WTF is up with DWright he won’t complain about it but clearly he is hurtin, that was a nasty fall he took making that diving tag a couple of weeks ago, he has not felt the same since. Could be his continuing struggle at the plate are injury related, like I said David shrugs it off saying “We’ve played 30-something games. Probably the majority of people in here are a little banged up. It’s obviously nothing I can’t play through. I’ve learned to play through different aches and pains, so it’s really no big deal. I don’t ever hurt”. Ok David calm down we believe you. In any event Collins will rest him on Wednesday and with the day off Thursday will give David two days off which I am sure he needs.

Game two tonight in Colorado Pelf on the mound against Jason Hammel.

As to Murphy being called out at the plate last night, unfortunately it was a correct call he was out like a light. See for yourself, that just dirt hitting the bag not Murph’s foot and Iannetta tagged him clear and simple

Thanks for the update sonny, and hope you have a blast when you're in Buffalo Thursday. And I was wondering just how long it would take before someone came up with the "Captain"Kirk Nieuwenhuis nickname;)he really has come along really well this year in Buffalo. They were talking about Familia and Harvey tonight...Familia had a great game but Harvey was hit hard tonight....not really concerned about that at all, reading the Post today and if you weren't a Matt Harvey fan before,it will open your eyes.Has that killer assassin quality as a potential ace,got great stuff, electrifying fastball that can register95-97 and developing other pitches.Incredible composure and mental toughness....a bulldog of a competitor who wants to win and will never stop working.A rubber arm, absolutely hates to be taken out of a game.I just see this performance tonight as a blip, everyone inluding a number of major league scouts feel he'll fly through the system and perhaps be ready to take a rotation spot next year.Hope so,the kind of competitor he is he may be one of those electric pitchers people want to see, compared favorably to Roy Halladay and that is some impressive comparison.

Hoping Mejia has no setbacks and can come back next year, hoping as well as a starter.Tommy John elbow surgery often has no negative long term effect but his delivery and mechanics will have to be closely monitored, especiallly not being a big guy.We just seem snakebit though, with Santana,Beato's tendinitis after impressive start,Parnell's circulatory problem,Chris Young reinjuring the shoulder...spoke about it in my last post but really feel bad for Chris,he can pitch so masterfully when healthy....smart,knows how to mix his pitches, keeps a cool head....just sucks he has to go through this again.

Pelf did give up three home runs tonight including one to old friend Troy Tulowitszki, who lit it up with homers in four consecutive games when the Rockies were at CitiField last month. He otherwise was very effective, six and two third innings, three earned runs on six hits.Mets won tonight 4-3.Aided his own cause ripping a double in the right field gap and driving in two runs.Ike Davis also drove in two with a ripped single right up the middle. He apparently hurt his calf going after a ball with David Wright in the fourth inning, neither clearly signalling the other off and Ike took the worst of it,spilled to the ground and got up very gingerly.Stayed in the game until the fifth but was taken out and Daniel Murphy, who had two hits and scored a run replaced him.Great move in that he made two outstanding reflex dives robbing Colorado and it appears Terry Collins has no problem whatsoever using him at first if Ike Davis were out for any reason.Good news after the game as Ike was basically saying he felt fine and wanted to play this afternoon's series finale.Certain though that Terry Collins wants him checked out for today just to make sure everything is okay.Bullpen of Isringhausen,Byrdak and K-Rod very effective tonight...the bullpen actually has been very solid for close to a month now. It's imperative the bats start producing,though....and sonny, know you're:rolleyes:regarding Jason Bay as a hitter, but we're stuck with him and he does give the effort...understand and share your frustration though. He just can't for whatever unfathomable reason get comfortable at the plate.

Yea,read about David playing hurt and as Terry Collins said in an interview David won't use it as an excuse but he has to be affected by the back....David is saying he's more banged up than hurt but the game off tomorrow and the off day Thursday could help the back get some rest.

A good Mets victory last nite, good effort by Pelfrey, despite the 3 HR's. His two run double certainly helped the Mets' anemic bats. Hoping Ike's injury is not too serious. I'm thinking he might sit today, as to give him two off days in a row, and DWright might end up playing, to keep some pop in the lineup, but we'll have to wait and see. I don't want to see a spring training lineup on the field. A series win here would be great. Lets go Mets!!!

That was a fun game to watch last night Pelf pitched well inspire of the homers, important was that he did not melt down but kept on going settling down even after he was taken deep three times. The old Pelf would have panicked after giving back an early two-run lead. But not the new and improved Pelf who hung in pitching to contact in what most believe is a tough hitters park, his command was the best we have seen this year. Clearly Pelf’s splitter felt good coming out of his hand; he is on top of his secondary pitches and really showed sound mechanics last night, which by the way is what allowed him to get on top of the ball. Besides his good command I loved seeing him use his fastball so often and was it my imagination or did it have a lot more movement last night. What we know is that Warthen and his staff is working with Mike to take more control and better owner his approach before each game and it’s working but I have to think other than he is obviously throwing the ball better I also think Paulino is a big part of this change; Ronny has more experience than Thole and for sure has shown that he knows how to adjust, call a game and fit it all in to work with what Pelf has that day. I expect to see more of that Pelf/Paulino pairing they are great together.

Jezz they almost needed an ambulance posted outside the park last night, just how many guys went down anyways. Davis and Wright not communicating well at all and it almost got worse cause Pelf was going to go for that ball as well we almost had all three of them collide, good grief. No worries cause our boy Murph took over at first and did a heck-of-a job playing like Hernandez. :=D:

Ike is flying to NY today be looked at by the team doctors and have an MRI on his leg. Good news is that this morning he said probably the injury will only keep him out of the lineup for a short period of time and he don't feel like it's that bad.
Yeah Ike but you’re a Met so expect to have the leg cut off…oops inappropriate? nah he loved it. ;)

Today’s game has been cancelled cause of the rain. Actual Text from a Met player a few minutes ago:
Raining like a mother game postponed 2 thurs what 2 do in Denver 35 degrees n rain Gotta change hotel cause this 1 is full 4 Thur. Awwww somebody needs a hug :D

Saucy that bad outing by Harvey may have hurt him more than you realize. Paul DePodesta said of Harvey comin up soon; don’t bank on it, even after rosters expand in September. and the next wave of pitchers would advance through the system at a deliberate pace. Ya have to think he was specifically talking about Harvey and Familia I think they are looking for those guys to move up in 2012. What has been said now is that a September call-up for these kind of guys right now is probably unlikely, because it doesn't necessarily serve that long-term development plan, but I would like to think he should think never say never even thou sometimes guys like them will dictate what that long-term plan is in terms of whether or not they should speed it up or slow it down Generally speaking it is usually a good idea for them to log at least 100 innings above Class A before reaching the majors, true thou we have seen pitchers jump form Double-A to the majors. Doin the math Harvey has at least 100 innings to go. Look I am the last person that wants to se another mistake like Mejia, let Harvey cook more we all him to be successful and if that means a little more time so be it, lets be smart about this.

I am glad you like that Captain Kirk name (his official nick name now) I am really excited about seeing him tomorrow. The kid has produced awesome statistics in Buffalo this season hitting .304 with five homers, 11 RBIs and two steals. He also has a .407 on-base percentage in the International League. In addition he has reached base in all but two of Buffalo's games this season. I have said many times I often have a better time at a minor league game than the majors, given a choice I would go to a minor game in a heartbeat, watching guys like Nieuwenhuis just gives me chills. On the field and off that kid is awesome.

I prolly wont write tomorrow I am spending Thursday night in Buffalo see you guys on Friday.

Here is the real reason Murphy missed that slide yesterday, he loves to text which is what he was doing and missed the slide
I sent that picture to Murph, his response…”you Dog”

So i havent been following this topic bc Dish doesnt have SNY and simply i stop caring. I been to busy watching the Yankees and twitter stocking all the Yankee players (Granderson has become my new favorite player, behind Swish and Martin).

So I watched the clip of Davis, Wright colliding and yep...David Wright is a tool! Its funny reading comment after comment how much fans have turn against him and prefer having him traded rather than Reyes. While Davis looked like he was in pain, Wright didnt seem to care and even walked away. He should take notes from Granderson about how to stay classy in this city. Love his new name, David " the curse" Wright lol.

But i plan on getting Uverse soon, as i gave up all hope on Dish and excited to watch both the Yankees and Mets! But in all honestly, the Mets dont seem to interest me now.

This picture cracked me up in so many ways and its slightly perverted lol. I am sorry, but i had to post it

gtru,I am not going to dignify your DWright comment other than to say disrespecting one of the most respected players in MLB just makes you look foolish

Quick note on Ike Davis before I head up North with the Bisons; he had a rough night still no word on if he will DL but should know soon. Meantime as a precaution Fernando Martinez is headed to Denver this morning.
F-Mart did not play yesterday after he homered in each of his previous two games with the Bisons.
The thinking now is that if Ike goes on the DL Martinez would fill in for Willie Harris who along with Justin Turner would play second base moving Daniel Murphy to first base.
If you are wondering why F-Mart and not Duda it’s because Lucas still has an issue with his back

The game may not even happen cause as of the morning the weather in Denver
was calling for a Cold, Windy & Wet day.

I won’t have access to a computer the rest of the day but maybe tonight if I can I will give you guys the whole Davis story otherwise tomorrow for sure.

I’m back, yesterday was a full range of emotions for me. Of course with Ike out my thoughts were of him most of the day, as you know it all started Wed night with that collision with DWright and Ike getting hurt. He was doin ok after the incident but started to feel major pain later that night. The next morning it was clear he need to go to the doctor so he flew back to NY, the flight was very uncomfortable. He has been fitted with a boot to ease the pressure on the ankle and went for an MRI. He sounded pretty bad Thursday morning and we were concerned about his Achilles. So Ike went to the doctor and I headed for Buffalo awaiting word on what was up. About half way to Buffalo the phone rang and it turned out that Ike was going to be ok, what they found was a strained ankle with a bone bruise in it, which is why he had so much pain in his calf and led the doctor to diagnose the problem as a calf strain. So now it will be a matter of wait and see what happens, he should know in about a week if the treatment will work and he is expected to be fine however there is still the outside chance it wont and remote as it is we still have to wait and see. If all goes according to the docs plan Ike should be back after the 15 days if not he could be pout longer. So everyone lets all have happy healthy thoughts for Ike. He is feeling better today.

So after that call I was able to relax a bit and look forward to fun day with the boys in Buffalo. I arrived and went straight to the clubhouse where I was greeted by two of he guys whose first question was “how is Ike doin”?. I laughed and said I just got here you mean you have not heard anything? They said no cause they did not want to call or bother Ike yet. Kurt Nieuwenhuis said he knew I would have all the facts when I got there. My reputation for such things preceded me I guess. ;)

The game in Buffalo was fun even though we blew a 3 run lead in the 8th and lost. Josh Stinson pitched really well had his sinker goin and followed through a lot better than the last time I saw him pitch. I asked Teufel about it and he also thought Josh’s mechanics were much better than the last game, We know that Josh lives on that sinker so when he has that going he usually has a good outing. Unfortunately Taylor Tankersley and Bobby Parnell were not as sharp Bobby gave up a three run homer. He is unlikely to be activated from the disabled list on Friday; clearly that numbness in his right middle finger is still an issue.

Cause of the rain delay in Colorado we were all able to gather around the clubhouse to watch an SNY live feed of the game. That was tremendous fun cause not only was it a great game but all the guys rooting for their brothers in Flushing like Turner, F-Mart, Niese and of course Pridie was a beautiful thing to be a part of. I can not describe the feeling of sitting there with those guys watching the Mets play, can you say awesome? :D

After the game it was Mexican before the boys were off to Louisville so early this morning I headed back to the city after one last call to Ike to see how he was doing and he sounded much better, did not hear that stress in his voice so I was good to go.

Check out Nieuwenhuis climbing the wall going after a ball, I told him later maybe we gotta change his nick name from Captain Kirk to “Spidy” :D

Aw sonny, love your perspectives and little Mets minor league journal;)It's gotta be a ton of fun for everyone.Sorry to hear the Bisons lost but that was a great game, wasn't it?Seeing the joy in Carlos Beltran and his teammates just taking it all in...gotta have been a fun day overall for everyone!Three home runs including one against the pitcher who made him look silly striking im out the other night....two run bomb payback time!!!(!)Six RBI in one game, three two run homers....awesome performance especially the Mets shorthanded with Wright and the injured Ike Davis in the lineup...and the Mets needed an explosion like that,an "I'll carry you boys today, relax and enjoy the ride" gem of a performance.Feel so good for him, worked so hard coming back from his knee woes and being the dangerous hitter he was before from 2006-2008.Pridie has been doing well and how bout Fernando Martinez tonight joining David Wright and Jason Bay homering,(another guy I feel good seeing him hit one like that,so many leg problems he's just been unable to stay healthy)and the Mets coming back from four runs down.Turner's been solid,Reyes is consistently dynamic either at the plate or defensively...usually both.Wright seemed rested and Bay's gotta keep driving the ball or at least drive in runs.Daniel Murphy has beeen slumping but continues to impress defensively at first holding the fort til Ike Davis returns from the ankle injury.Bullpen again was lights out.

The best thing is seeing this kind of play, three wins straight,on the road.....let's go Mets!!!

Great comeback win last nite over the 'Stros with a solid bullpen performance, and Pat Misch getting the win. HR's from Bay, FMart, and the game winner from DWright were awesome. Gee wasn't all that good last nite, wasn't awful, but just not up to his usual command of pitches. Let's keep the good stuff going thru the rest of the weekend. Let's go Mets!!!

Syam, Gee had close to 100 friends and family at that game (he is from there) so the pressure had to be great I am not worried about him I will admit he may not be as good as Young (yet) but I have faith in Dillon to get the job done. Just nerves yesterday I think.

Saucy the thrill of sitting with those Bosons and watching the Mets play can not be articulated without me giggling. ;) It’s just more fun than a person should legally be allowed to have.
I can only wish I was with them watching that 8th inning rout yesterday F-Mart Turner and Pridie, holy smoke, the Bisons watching that must have been howling for their brothers. Did you catch the faces of Turners and Martinez as they came back to the dugout…. priceless.

Had a long talk in Buffalo with a couple of the boys about F-Mart coming up to fill in for Ike and the concern was, especially with Evans, that Fernando would spend too much time on the bench Collins not wanting to screw with Beltran, Bay or Pridie. But because of the day F-Mart had yesterday Collins said that he would consider moving Bay to Center and playing F-Mart at left. F-Mart and his constantly worrisome knees would be a risk at Center so I don’t expect him to play there. Then low and behold this morning Beltran woke up with a swollen eye and will not play this afternoon so F-Mart gets to take his place at right, sweet!
So the new lineup is Reyes, Turner, Wright, Bay, Paulino, Murphy, Hairston, Martinez, Dickey

Meantime Angel Pagan began baseball activities today
