New York Mets 2011

Not shocked at all to see Ogando get knocked around. I was at Yankee Stadium back in April and even there he got a no decision in that one, I knew it was only a matter of time before he started getting knocked around, which he has in his last three starts.
When you only have two pitches, you aren't going to last long.
Looking foward to the Subway series this week, I have the Yankees taking two out of three again, but Reyes will certainly be a factor in all three games.

BREAK UP THE METS!! What the hell in the name of Cleon Jones is going on with the Mets offense!! I mean 36 runs in the last 3 games is incredible, two, count 'em, two grand slams in one game after going almost 2 years without one! All this against a couple of first place teams from the "invincible" American League. Wowsers! Lots of contributions from everyone, but especially Jose Reyes being the catalyst. Pitching has been good, this is a wonderful stretch of games. Let's go Mets!!!

Oh syam my boy I dono WTF is going on but I sure hope it continues, what fun it is once again to watch the Mets. With last night’s Tiger massacre, the Mets improved to 40-39 for the season and have scored 36 runs in past 3 games. It is the first time the Mets have been over .500 since they were 3-2 in early April and they have gone 35-26 in their last 61 games. they’ve hit .283 as a team, and lead the National League with 79 stolen bases this season. Over their last 30 games, our starting pitchers ERA is 2.84 which is the third lowest total in the majors over that span, and they have also allowed three runs or less in 24 of those 30 games.
It’s like everyday is a new adventure, of course Reyes is unbelievable and what will he do is such a rush but then there was Jason bay, JASON FREAKIN BAY, who ripped that grand salami and then before our heart rate got a chance to come down Beltran did the same thing. I mean come on.:=D:

The best part is that he has been going on for a while now, in the past when ever the Mets got us excited they fell apart but this time it feels different. They are beaten very good opponents and commanded games not only at home but on the road as well. I follow the minors very closely so when the “Buffalo Mets” were called on to replace our injured guys I was one of the ones who felt good about it I knew they were going to try like Hell to get it done. And so they have by playing consistently well, of course a big part of this goes to Terry Collins and his staff who have done amazing things with them.
It starts with the pitching and that has for the most part been stellar, did you guys see that. R.A. Dickey strikeout on a 59.0 mph knuckleball?

Ninja I too am really looking forward to that Yankee series should be one heck of a series.

In other things Dwright continues to prepare for his comeback he began hitting of a tee yesterday. Oh and is it just me or do you guys think he is gonna come bask to a monster year.... seriously monster

I have to tell you Nick Evans continues to tear it up in Buffalo I have been telling you guys how well he had been playing, In the month of June, Evans has a pounded out a .489/.566/.733 line and hit in 19 consecutive ballgames, 19 now!

Down in Savannah Darrell Ceciliani returned form the DL yesterday and wasted no time getting back to form by batting out a double to center scoring two runners. Welcome back Darrell.

Spoke to “Captain”Kirk Nieuwenhuis who is out with another shoulder injury, he is still on the DL but felling much better. Remember that name he is an amazing outfielder simply awesome.

Johan Santana is scheduled to return to a mound today, he said he felt really good. I will find out how it went later and get back to you guys

Ike Davis is home in Arizona enjoying a little of moms home cookin and has started a little light rehab.

Taylor Buchholz is also at home in Philly not really doing all that well he still has shoulder weakness.

Jon Niese was examined again in Detroit, found nothing during a battery of tests. Niese is gonna be wearing heart monitor for 24 hours, which will go back to the doctors today. If things stay the same he will make his regular scheduled start on Friday.

In the lineup tonight Ronnie Paulino is catching but also hitting cleanup, that has not happened with a catcher since Piazza like 6 years ago but it makes sense I am not surprised by that move. Hey I have learned never to question Collins anymore the dude knows what he is doing. The rest of the lineup will be Reyes at short, Murphy at first, Tejada at second, Turner at third, Bay, Pagan and Beltran in the outfield. Capuano is on the mound.

Lets keep it going Mets

I can't see Reyes being with the Mets past the all-star break, solely because like the Padres did off season by trading A-Gon and Toronto did with Halladay, you want to try and get something for your top pieces vs watching them leave and you ending up with nothing.

16 more runs!!! Have we started playing softball???? Unbeliveable hitting. Even Hairston had a 3 run triple. Pagan with 4 hits. Jose Reyes "held" to two hits. Let's see what we can do against Verlander today, that will be a test, for sure.

Of the Mets who may get traded in July or August, it's probably going to be Carlos Beltran. I read where his contract does not allow the Mets to offer arbitration after the season, so the Mets would not even get draft picks if he goes elsewhwere. At least with Jose Reyes, should he leave, the Mets would end up with one or two top draft choices. Will have to see what the Mets might get in return for either to evaluate any deals. It will certainly be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Let's go METS!!!

So Sonny, yes Daniel Murphy does look like a Amish guy, while i like him with a beard its better trimmed lol! Speaking of Murphy, i always been a huge supporter of his and i have so happy he is having a awsome year! He is one of those hard workers that likes to push themselves and he is doing great!! That home rum off justin verlander was awsome! Good for him!!

So i just realized, this will be Dwrights first time not going to the All Star game in six years!! I bet he must be bummed, but question for you, if he didnt go on the DL, would he still have made it??

So this weekend is the Subway series part part and Yankees win!!!! THE YANKEES WIN lol!!! Yes, Jose got robbed when trying to reach 3rd base.

Btw, Tex has the best ass in all MLB with Murphy coming in second in my opinion lol

GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:p

*Sorry, this is my weekend off for the Mets.

We forgive you,gtru....this time!;)Hopefully the Mets aren't all offensed out after that incredible scoring run....obviously no one can keep it up too long.Just don't want to see old bad habits(sloppy play, lack of clutch hitting)start to resurface on a more pronounced basis but as we learned this group of guys Terry Collins has playing their hearts out are not the clueless, pathetic Mets of the past couple of years. They always have bounced back, and I'm sure that will continue to be the case.

Loved the way Jon Niese battled....got tested in the first and Teixeira is one of the most dangerous hitters right now but at least he got through six only giing up those three runs in the first.

SOlid pitching by both sides tonight. Both NIese and Nova got into jams but got out of them as well.

P.S. What did A-Rod tag Reyes out on? His dreadlocks? NOt that it would have made a difference in the end but I hate seeing bad calls for either side.

Another loss to the Yanks....Gee was solid until getting banged around for four runs in the sixth, overall going seven innings allowing seven hits, four runs.We just can't risk the big inning, offensively we're lost again after that amazing four game,52 run romp we just score two today and lose 5-2.Worst of all,the other shoe may have dropped and Jose Reyes may have a left hamstring problem..he'll be out of tomorrow's game after apparently tweaking something during the first inning...taken out in the third for his protection. It may be minor but God knows this franchise a hangnail could result in a season ending injury...Jose has been so brilliant it points out both how vital h is to the Mets being competitive and how being so dependent on speed can be very risky looking longterm.Hope it's only going to require a few games rest but Mets fans can never be free of agita when confronted by injury,we've seen it so many times already it just is sad.

Heard that Jose Reyes goes for an MRI this mrning,it was set for 9:45 so cross our fingers, toes, legs and eyes the hamstring wasn't hurt too bad and Jose will be terrorizing pitchers and opponents really soon....with the season he's been having a serious injury would be a fucking waste, but like I said Mets fans have become all to accustomed to little twinges becoming season ending surgeries.Anyway,Let's go Mets and take the final game today!

Congrats to Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran as they head to the All Star game! Reyes deserves to start and hope MRI comes out good for him. Love the fact the Soxs are only taking 3 players to the game and the Phillies are taking 4 lol. If it wasnt for the Phillies starting ptichers, they would only have one!!! As for the Yankees, a total of 6 with 4 starters!!!

FYI...YANKEES FOR THE SWEEP TODAY!!!

Sorry gtru...no sweep for the Yanks!:pI do wholeheatedly agree with you about the loathesome Red Sox and Phillies, and congrats to Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes on their selectionand the Yankees on their six selections to the All Star Game!!(Sorry,Scrub!);)!It also appears Jose Reyes' hamstring strain was the mildest possible and while chances are good he may be rested up to the All Star break,he may play in the All Star game and avoid the DL altogether.Seemed to be in a very good mood today, not really feeling any pain that would require a signifucant shutdown or recovery period.

Mets win 3-2 in 10....hoping RA Dickey is okay having been pulled after five innings, very effective today.....but seemed to have tweaked something,if it isn't on thing it's another but good to see our boys get to Mariano Rivera and seal a win and avoid a home-away subway series sweep.Izzy and K-Rod weren't sharp but this time we battled for the extra run and held on.Daniel Murphy had three more hits and an RBI and Jason Bay,who also had two hits and Ronny Paulino knocked in the other runs,Paulino with the game winner.Great thing was all three RBI came with two out.....love that clutch hitting!(!)

Anyway hope you all have a great Fourth....sonny I'm sure will give us a lot of great stuff Tuesday and now our boys head west for a six game California trip to the Dodgers and Giants to cap off the first half....Happy Birthday America and of course,"Let's go Mets"!..|

Oops!!oops! It was Jason Bay trhat had the game winning single off of Mariano Rivera,Ron Paulino drove in the second one.Damn read the recap quickly, wish I had been off and had been able to see the game!

In very interesting news,New York Post reports that Sandy Alderson very much has come to the conclusion he wll aggressively attempt to re-up Jose Reyes in the offseason, even with the recent hamstring incident....looks like the Mets may go six years at close to 20 mil per at least because they understand just how vital Jose is to the organization....he brings so much to the table, and the joy he plays with and connection with the fans. Though not a fan of giving out that many megadeal contracts Jose is one Alderson has found that in the situation the Mets are in,desperately needing to show their appreciation for their fan base and realizing there are precious few players like Reyes, they have to make signing him the most important priority in the offseason.Certainly no one capable of coming in next year or so and coming anywhere near duplicating what he can do at bat,on the bases,in the field and in the clubhouse and with the fan base...Darren Ceciliani has the potential but in the next six years,Jose Reyes will be primed to do some amazing things being in his prime. He loves the Mets, wants to remain a Met....please,please Sandy do it....and hopefully hold on to David Wright(who may prove to be more affordable re-upping about five years after the 2013 Mets option kicks in)As he is while among the best third basemen when healthy and should be fine after getting out the kinks on the next few weeks....he may be at least in the eyes of most clubs a risk for going the first tier megadeal route, too many strikeouts and much more streaky than in his outstanding first four full seasons.I wanna keep em both, but if they both have too much frontloaded salary with the Mets need to maintain flexibility in fulfilling needs that might be too difficult.Hopefully sonny desn't think I'm undercutting David.....there is NO better example of a teammate and athlete who understands his influence on fans, especially young ones and is a thorough gentleman and professional.Just trying to figure if we can keep both Reyes and Wright long term which is the ideal outcome for the Mets and their fans.

Well, the road trip is off to a good start with last nite's 5-2 victory of the Dodgers. Solid pitching from Capuano and Parnell provided two solid innings of relief work. 3 doubles in the sixth provided the first three runs. This following the win on Sunday against the Yanks and giving a blown save to Rivera makes for a nice Independence Day weekend. Read that Johan pitched with David Wright standing in the batter's box, a start on the recovery road for both, and rumor is that Ike is slowly doing a little more in the recovery process as well. Let's hope Jose Reyes quickly recovers from his hammy issue and we finish the first half with a strong showing on the West Coast. Let's Go Mets!!

I sure hope all of you had a great safe and happy fourth and thanks to all who contributed to this thread while I was busy. Saucy and others have been commenting on trades and I have for the most part stayed away from that discussion. But I will say that I do not think Reyes is going anywhere soon, we know he wont negotiate till after the season and I just don’t see him getting traded. You also have to consider what this last injury has done cause for sure ya have to think that other teams have been reminded once again that he is always one hamstring injury away from something serious. I have thought all along that, as saucy has said, The Mets have to resign Reyes, they know it, he is too valuable and too much of a fan favorite to let him get away, plus the Mets have got to know that fans would burn Citi Field down to the ground if Reyes is traded. The Mets have to make a strong offer, we have heard things like Reyes will expect a seven-year deal worth around $145 million and we also have heard that at least one team will offer Reyes that type of deal, but Sandy Alderson may not be able to match it. I wonder if that is due to the Mets”financial restrictions” or because Alderson has a history of not wanting to commit to a player for that long. Of course They'll pick up draft picks if he goes elsewhere, you would not get draft picks for Carlos Beltran. Speaking about Beltran I have to wonder if the Mets will be active buyers at the trading deadline, of course the standings will play a big part in that. I have to wonder whether if they are close enough to the wild card to justify retaining Carlos Beltran at the deadline and receiving no compensation at the end of the season. Remember that Beltran is movable in August cause if any team put in a waiver claim on him then they would do so at some risk cause the Mets could simply say take him, and the new team might be have to cough up for his remaining 2011 salary I wish knew Reyes or Beltran so I could pick up the phone and talk to him abouit this as I can with some other players but I do not know either one of em.

Meanwhile Reyes took batting practice and fielded ground balls at shortstop before the game last night testing his hamstring but he did not run, he said he will teat that today. He also said he is feeling better everyday, but Is smart enough not to rush things he doe not want to get on the field too soon ever so remindfull of what happened in 2009 when he played to soon. He wants to wait and take his time and when I’m ready to play, he will play.Meanwhile the Mets have said that they would rather play a man down for a handful of days than place Reyes on the DL and lose him for 15 days.

We thought DWright would be ready to begin rehab games later this week but now that is unlikely fact is he has not even started running yet slow go is the name of that game and very smart if you ask me, I mean the kid has not run in over six weeks, he has got to take it slow and get his legs back first. Wee should see David in rehab games next week.

Ike Davis home in Arizona has been a good boy and not tried to run on that ankle yet he is supposed to wait the full three weeks and that is what he is doing. He is hoping to start serious running next week, if that goes well then we will know that he is healing and the next step can be taken. He did say that he absolutely feels healing going on in that ankle since he stopped wearing the boot which is very encouraging. Going home to Arizona instead of staying in Florida was an excellent idea, surrounded by fiends and family the time passes much better he was bored out if his mind in Florida. His spirts are good although he is a little anxious about what will happen when he tries to run but excited and causiouisly optimistic as well. We still have the possibility if things o not go well next week that Ike will need surgery but no one is thinking about that right now.

Johan Santana threw 25 pitches off a mound the other day and then threw his second bullpen session in Port St. Lucie, Sandy Alderson said Santana likely will throw another bullpen session Thursday before the organization puts him on some spring-training-type schedule to ramp up for major league games. DWright was there and stood in the batters box and tracked pitches as Santana threw,
Would I have loved to watch that... oh my goodness.

.

Another win by the Mets in La La land, Pelfrey and the bullpen throw a shutout and Jason Bay, yes, that Jason Bay hits 2 HR's and drives in 4 in the 6-0 victory. Beltran contributed a 2 run blast to get to the six runs. Saw an article that the Mets are shopping some bullpen folks including KRod, Izzy, and Byrdak. Quotes were attributed to folks in the know from other teams, anonymously, of course. Soon, we hit a stretch of faceing 7 straight All Star starting pitchers. Let's go MEts!!

Thanks sonny for the in depth update and totally agree with you about Reyes....thanks too syam....all six Mets scored on home runs, like you sdaid one by Beltran and two wallops by Jason Bay who really is surging now. When especially impressive with that second homer he drove hard to the opposite field.Jason pulls a lot so when he goes to right field he really seems to be in a groove....that was a nice shot!Guys seemed happy for him,you really want to root for him to get going like he did replacing Manny Ramirez in Boston....showed a lot of power and drove in a ton of runs and thrived under the pressure.

Think we wait til the deadline if we do a bullpen deal but Bobby Parnell has shown tremendous growth in either a seventh or eighth inning role...the other night pitching an outstanding seventh AND eighth!Good to see Izzy stay tough in that eighth after initial trouble and K-Rod too.Pelf battled superbly, got through six despite a lot of pitches and beared down impressively when they needed him to.Glad that he really seemed to want to go in for the seventh....if he weren't passionate with Terry Collins in the dugout I'd be upset but Pelf probably knew Collins did the right thing.6-0 third straight win.......let's go off into the All Star Break on a winning note!..|

It would not surprise me to see K-Rod, Byrdak and Izzy gone,
as for Parnell I could see him closing if K-Rod goes.

I am so thrilled to see what Bay has been doing he is just what we needed right now for him to bust out. You can see he’s feeling more comfortable at the plate

Kevin Burkhartd sayin he is lovin LA, Kevin is a big beach nut, loves it, there so he is in heaven.

Pelfrey and Paulino continue to play sweet music together and thou I know Collins does not like to pair up pitchers and catchers on a permanent basis, I'm bettin he will pair Pelfrey with Paulino from here on in and I mean no matter if they're facing lefties or righties. Ronnie calms Pelf knows exactly which fingers to put down and is far better for him than Thole.

Reyes still not in the lineup and in fact has not started running yet but I would expect him back in the Giants series and not before

Spotted at Dodger stadium yesterday Sandy Alderson chatting with Scott Boras
Be afraid....be very afraid.

Had a crappy phone call with Kirk Nieuwenhuis I called to se how he was feeling, he has been out almost a month with a strain of his shoulder, he said he is not making progress and rehab is still not an option, he is also worried that like Ike he may end up having surgery. The poor kid can barely lift his arm just doing simple stuff. breaks my heart to hear that stuff. positive thoughts for recovery dude.
More bad news from the minors Reese Havens landed on the DL with a lower-back strain.
I will keep in touch with these guys and hope to have better news soon.

I will be going to Citifield tomorrow when the Mets host their annual blood drive.

Reyes still not running so somethings up
Now the doctors want him to rest longer and it looks like he will be out for 3 weeks.
What a shame he will now miss the All Star game and that sucks.

Now it makes sense why Nick Evans got the call early this morning to get on a plane and come out to LA, when he left this morning we did not know who he was going to replace no one said why just told him to go.
Reyes must be going on the DL. I am sure some sort of announcement will be made later today.

Another shot for one of my favorite people, As I have been telling you Nick has been on fire in Buffalo absolutly ON FIRE. I can only hope he carries that momentum back to the Mets this time.

Ike Davis is still planning on trying to run this weekend; so far he has worked the treadmill but that was with a brace as not to put pressure on the ankle; the true test come when he actually puts pressure on the ankle and runs; as soon as he does I will let you guys know how it goes. I will be spending the whole day with Ike on the 17th at his charity event in Brooklyn so I should have plenty from the “horse’s mouth” on how he is dong. By then he will certainly now if he will surgery or not…stay tuned.

So lots of ?? yesterday about why Nick Evans got the call yesterday to go to LA and join the Mets; when Nick got the call he was not told who he was replacing but most of us figured it was gonna be Reyes. Of course that turned out to be the case as now Jose is officially on the 15 day DL. The hardest thing for Reyes I will bet is having to miss the All star game which he was so looking forward to playing in. The DL is retroactive to July 3 which means technically he will be eligible to return next weekend when the Mets play the Phillies, but don’t hole you r breath on that happin. I don’t see him coming back till at lest the 22nd. Get well Josie.

Meantime Evans is coming off a 19 game hitting streak in Buffalo batting .514 during that stretch and he is .329 for the season so far in Buffalo. Don’t let last nights 0-4 worry you, he is not used to the likes of a Clayton Kershaw, Still I don’t expect to see him in the lineup all that much prolly spend a lot of time on the bench. especially with the Mets facing three right-handed pitchers in San Francisco, I would expect to se the Lucas Duda at first base that series. We should expect to see more of Nick when the Mets go against lefties Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels in Philadelphia

Josh Thole is as nervous as a cat in room full of rocking chairs these days with his wife about to pop out their first child just about any second. He has been running back and fourth from the dugout to his locker to check his phone, come on Terry bend the rules and let the kid have his phone in the dugout.
Mike Nickeas has a bag packed in Buffalo ready to move on in and take Thole's place for a while when the baby is born. They are having a boy.
