What a great offensive display for a change last night just about everyone putting the ball in play so energizing and I might even say refreshing change for the boys. It was great to see Murphy get off to a nice 3 hit start after his bout with that shoulder soreness, he felt great with no ill effects at all before or after the game, still or a while anyways he is taking some anti-inflammatories for his rotator cuff inflammation.
Young beat up some with that grand salami but bounced back ok and the best was seeing the pen hold it together. All of em Carson, Ramirwz, Edgin Rauch and Parnell came thru with 5 2/3 scoreless relief innings. How bout that!
Looks like Kelly Shoppach may not be such a bad acquisition after all he is doing well with our pitchers they like him and the way he calls games as do I and he also has been contributing with this bat, we hoped he would give us a hot bat and he may just do that yesterday he showed some nice pop let’s hope that continues.
Collin McHugh, who is in Buffalo now will be back with the Mets on Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals, I am sure I do not have to remind you how happy I was he was chosen last week over Mejia and he came thru with seven scoreless innings.
Tonight it will our hot up n comer Matt Harvey who will pitch against a kid named Tyler Cloyd who the Phillies have called up from AAA, Cole Hamels was to pitch but he has a boo boo in his stomach poor baby . Cloyd is a righty so the Mets lineup will not consist of all righty’s players as originally planned
Gonna be fun next week with the September call ups I always look forward to that to pick us up and put some extra fun to the final games, with our season lost I am like a lot of fans hoping we can at least finish a respectable third in the division and last night we stared on that road beating the Phills.
As to who will be called back we don’t know for sure that call will be made after the Bison’s season ends on Monday But likely we will see guys in addition to McHugh, should be Jenrry Mejia, Mike Nickeas,Jeurys Familia,Elvin Ramirez, and others and yeah, that guy Valdespin. Josh Satin, is likely heading for Israel in World Baseball Classic
I was hoping for Matt den Dekker, not sure since he does not need to be added to the 40-man roster to be protected for the Rule 5 draft. An unfortunate omission will be Zack Wheeler, who we expect to be shut down for the season because of innings limits; he was recently sooo amazing dominating in a doubleheader with a three-hit shutout. I think I wrote already Burkhardt and I think he will be here after the all-star break next year.
In Brooklyn we are excited about Gavin Cecchini coming today to finish out his season love that kid! He is gonna help us win a playoff berth which would be our fourth consecutive
I have not written much about Cory Vaughn in a while you guys should know he is doing well in Lucie yesterday he was 3 for 6 in a doubleheader with a 3 run homerun, two doubles, a walk and a stolen base. So yeah I would say he is doing just fine thank you very much.
I totally misunderstood Kevin Burkhardt the other day when he got home from Texas I thought he said he was returning to SNY actually he is returning to Dallas today to call his 4th pre-season game. I know KB loves doing those games and he is as good as it gets doin em but I always miss him at Mets games.
I have not written much about the idea that this could/will be the last of the Bisons in Buffalo after 25 years at Coca-Cola Field the last game was played yesterday and the Mets are expected to change affiliations this offseason. I am just too heartbroken about it to even say much just waitin till the final word to come down. Just as an example I could not even bring myself to go to Buffalo for that last home game it would have been way to sad And emotional for me so I pussy'd out and stayed in Brooklyn. Cyclones manger told me I could go but I declined. I know in my heart I am going to regret that choice but there is a big dinner party planned and I have been invited to that and I will be there, gotta say see ya to my boys
