New York Mets 2012

Great news, just got off the phone Murph is ok MRI showed no damage. basically just what they called trotator cuff tightness, he is cleared to resume baseball. :=D:

Finally, a bit of good news. Glad his issue is nothing too serious. Pretty poor homestand losing 4 of 6 to the Rockies and Astros. Hopefully the bats will come alive against the Phils, thought they just swept the Nats. Maybe they'll be hung over from that and not ready for the Mets. Let's go Mets!!

Murphy has rejoined the team In Philly, although the tests were negative we will still be interested in seeing if he has any future pain in that shoulder.

Meantime I have not heard officially that Valderspin is now going to return to AAA as originally planned but wait, what’s that I hear? The last train to Buffalo last night calling “All Aborrrrrd”

My thanks to Saucy for reminding me that in my post about Duda I forgot to mention that awesome throw to the plate to gun down the runner and save a run basically making up for the lost catch earlier in the game. I also did not give enough credit to Hefner and his outstanding outing he was spectacular established his fastball, worked both sides of the plate, and worked quick following Harvey’s lead to our future superstar pitchers. On that I should also mention that on Sunday Zack Wheeler won his first game for AAA Buffalo, he pitched a complete game, three hit shutout striking out seven and only walking two.
I cannot wait to get to Florida next tear to see how he will fair for next year; although most believe he won’t be ready till 2014 I am thinking more like sometime after the All-Star game next year. Then there is McHugh, who pitched a terrific game against Colorado on Thursday, he will start in Buffalo today. Jenrry Mejia still struggling allowing five runs on four hits and four walks in six innings yesterday.

I mentioned yesterday that Scott Hairston and Andres Torres had been placed on waivers, and we were waiting to see if a team would claim him later in the day, well someone (we don’t know who)did claim Hairston but don’t ya think maybe that was just to block another team from getting him? If so I would think he will be a Met next year and that would be great. Torres should not have the same situation cause seriously, who is gonna want him.

Finally can I give a "fuck you" to all those media fools who yesterday complained about the Mets celebration at home plate for Ike Davis. What is wrong with you jerks, the Mets have had a rough time of it lately so when something like that happens it’s exciting and gives them back a little hope, let em enjoy it they are just havin fun for goodness sake. The same applies to the complaints about the pie throwing as “a bit much” I dono sounds to me like the guys complaining need to get laid more often. AGAIN, the boys are just havin a little fun and aren’t hurting anyone other than the simple minded idiots who find it irritating. What these guys still don’t get is that the boys are all brothers who truly love one another as family and that is how you react when something like what happens to Ike occurs. Get over it calm the fuck down.

Kevin Burkhardt returns to SNY tonight after a few days off to call football in Texas, welcome back KB, The lovely and sweet Tiffany did a nice job filling in.

What a great offensive display for a change last night just about everyone putting the ball in play so energizing and I might even say refreshing change for the boys. It was great to see Murphy get off to a nice 3 hit start after his bout with that shoulder soreness, he felt great with no ill effects at all before or after the game, still or a while anyways he is taking some anti-inflammatories for his rotator cuff inflammation.

Young beat up some with that grand salami but bounced back ok and the best was seeing the pen hold it together. All of em Carson, Ramirwz, Edgin Rauch and Parnell came thru with 5 2/3 scoreless relief innings. How bout that!

Looks like Kelly Shoppach may not be such a bad acquisition after all he is doing well with our pitchers they like him and the way he calls games as do I and he also has been contributing with this bat, we hoped he would give us a hot bat and he may just do that yesterday he showed some nice pop let’s hope that continues.

Collin McHugh, who is in Buffalo now will be back with the Mets on Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals, I am sure I do not have to remind you how happy I was he was chosen last week over Mejia and he came thru with seven scoreless innings.

Tonight it will our hot up n comer Matt Harvey who will pitch against a kid named Tyler Cloyd who the Phillies have called up from AAA, Cole Hamels was to pitch but he has a boo boo in his stomach poor baby . Cloyd is a righty so the Mets lineup will not consist of all righty’s players as originally planned

Gonna be fun next week with the September call ups I always look forward to that to pick us up and put some extra fun to the final games, with our season lost I am like a lot of fans hoping we can at least finish a respectable third in the division and last night we stared on that road beating the Phills.
As to who will be called back we don’t know for sure that call will be made after the Bison’s season ends on Monday But likely we will see guys in addition to McHugh, should be Jenrry Mejia, Mike Nickeas,Jeurys Familia,Elvin Ramirez, and others and yeah, that guy Valdespin. Josh Satin, is likely heading for Israel in World Baseball Classic

I was hoping for Matt den Dekker, not sure since he does not need to be added to the 40-man roster to be protected for the Rule 5 draft. An unfortunate omission will be Zack Wheeler, who we expect to be shut down for the season because of innings limits; he was recently sooo amazing dominating in a doubleheader with a three-hit shutout. I think I wrote already Burkhardt and I think he will be here after the all-star break next year.

In Brooklyn we are excited about Gavin Cecchini coming today to finish out his season love that kid! He is gonna help us win a playoff berth which would be our fourth consecutive

I have not written much about Cory Vaughn in a while you guys should know he is doing well in Lucie yesterday he was 3 for 6 in a doubleheader with a 3 run homerun, two doubles, a walk and a stolen base. So yeah I would say he is doing just fine thank you very much.

I totally misunderstood Kevin Burkhardt the other day when he got home from Texas I thought he said he was returning to SNY actually he is returning to Dallas today to call his 4th pre-season game. I know KB loves doing those games and he is as good as it gets doin em but I always miss him at Mets games.

I have not written much about the idea that this could/will be the last of the Bisons in Buffalo after 25 years at Coca-Cola Field the last game was played yesterday and the Mets are expected to change affiliations this offseason. I am just too heartbroken about it to even say much just waitin till the final word to come down. Just as an example I could not even bring myself to go to Buffalo for that last home game it would have been way to sad And emotional for me so I pussy'd out and stayed in Brooklyn. Cyclones manger told me I could go but I declined. I know in my heart I am going to regret that choice but there is a big dinner party planned and I have been invited to that and I will be there, gotta say see ya to my boys

Great job by the Mets last nite, it was only a matter of time before someone got punished by the Mets "offense". Couldn't come against a better opponent, the Phils. Maybe Murphy needs to get more MRI's to stay hot?? Tonite's game will be interesting to see how Harvey fares against the powerhouse lefty bats of the Phillies. Unfortunately, the Mets somehow seem to struggle against unknown pitching. Let's go Mets!!

Maybe Murphy needs to get more MRI's to stay hot?? Let's go Mets!!

I will pass that on Syam

Outstanding win last night

I always loved that Lets Go Mets Go rally song from the 80s here is a new one not as good but gets the blood pumpin

Not exactly my music genre, but like the lyrics. A sweep in Miami! Wow, nice all around performances, especially the pitching. A Dickey masterpiece on Friday, A nice ninth inning rally on Saturday, and a grand salami from Jason Bay of all people on Sunday to back Chris Young. Let's see how Mr McHugh does against the Cards today. Let's go Mets!!

Just wanted to comment on that call by the first base umpire and Torres. What confounds me is that he saw, or thought he saw, Torres miss the bag but ignored it at first and said nothing until Beltran told the bench “I think he missed first you should appeal” Only then when confronted about it said Torres missed the bag and called him out. WHAT! HUH! WTF! Would Torres end up scoring from second in that inning and tie the game we will never know but he mighta. I guess Beltran feels better now about that missed call in Santana’s perfect game when the ball he hit was called foul instead of a hit.
OK Carlos so you got your revenge but we got the perfect game.:p

Love seeing all those kids up from Buffalo it gives us some spark and they are fun to watch, Wally Backman is also coming down on Sunday, he did that last year too joining the coaching staff for the final month.

I sure wish Harvey wasn’t so hard on himself but he has been that way as long as I have known him just beats himself up last night saying “I pitched like crap”. But I don’t agree with that, after that bad second inning Matt got his stuff together and allowed just one hit thru the fifth. Leaving the game also bothered him he wants to go deep into games.

I thought Jeurys Familia looked good I liked seeing him put Lance Berkman away and did a great job pounding the strike zone. Yup, nice first outing. Thing is, all of a sudden our pen is doing ok again and a lot of the credit for that has to go to Kelly Shoppach, every time I watch him catch I am liking him more and more. As for calling games he is a complete turnaround from Thole if you compare the two as I have it is clear he is calling for the relievers to use their secondary pitches more than Thole did and most notably they are pitching more inside havin em come in more It’s a whole new game when he calls it and I am liking that.

Very important game for us today in Brooklyn (we got creamed yesterday) for our final game our magic number is one and we need a win today against Lowell or one loss by Batavia for the New York-Penn League's wild-card

Got the word that a bunch of my boys will be going to Arizona for the fall league and that is great news Ryan Fraser, Chase Huchingson, Adam Kolarek, Greg Peavey, Danny Muno, Darrell Ceciliani, and Cesar Puello are all going out there. I already spoke to Muno and plan on getting in touch with Ceciliani soon it will be fun for them but more important hey get to improve their skills working with the amazing coaches we have out there. Dono how or if I can but I am thinking road trip to Arizona this winter, I can visit with Davis, Thole and Nick Evans all living out there and I can check up on the boys in the league I hope I can work that out wanna go real bad.

Kevin Burkhardt off to Texas again last night to call football he will not be at today’s game but will return on Friday. He did not get off to a great start yesterday with a 4 hour delay in his flight Yikes!
I have told KB to check his deodorant casue I have noticed lately no one is sitting near him at games

LOL with the KB pics! You're bad, sonny!;)

That screwed us up, that call against Torres. Supposedly Beltran didn't even really see Torres miss the bag, but was relaying what he heard mentioned about it. I mean, wtf?!!!!!!!! 5-4, a chance for another comeback looking good with the apparent leadoff double by Torres in the ninth... then wtf?!!!!!!!!! Maybe the Mett coaches should have been more adamant but it really looked like Torres brushed the first base bag. Took the sails right out of the comeback which sucked.

Agreed with your take on Harvey... he realizes he has to put away batters more quickly and work on his command but again when he was tested early he responded by not allowing any more damage the next couple of innings. Matt has this fearless quality, this toughness that if he keeps working like he does he's going to be a nigtmare many nights to face with his stuff and determination. You want him to build on his showing, he has a temperament of a professional. And Wheeler is supposed to be better? I say can't wait to see them anchor the Mets rotation in the next year or two! Don't forget Michael Fulmer...in a couple of years another stud will be knocking on the door!

Great win today against the Cardinals. RA wasn't as dominant as he's been recently but plenty good enough giving up just two runs and eight hits in six and two third innings. Ike Davis continues his power surge with three run homer making the score 5-1 and the Mets were able to add a tack on run for a 6-2 victory in St. Loo. 26 homers now for Ike, along with 77 RBI...imagine with hiss horrible start he seriously has a shot at 30 homers,100 RBI. Hope you get to go to Arizona this fall sonny and see Ike, Nick and Josh. Really important winter for Josh.... had two hits today but really has to get back to the solid contact hitter he showed he could develop into in his early days. Ike will be fine....hopefully he won't get too caught up in whether he stays in his crouch or straightens up like he did until he had the slump. And please, if he's staying in Arizona this winter no Valley Fever relapses!!!

Loved the pics of Kevin Burkhardt sitting amongst the masses:lol:(LOL!)Sonny, you're bad but bet KB and the boys love you for it!;)

Yes saucy KB loves the teasing I give him sometimes it’s just too easy ;)
I will be going to Arizona I just got the green light from dad, not sure when, I need tp coordinate that with Ike and Nick. it all begins on October 9, and runs to November 17, with the championship game. I expect to be there for at least 2 weeks. The Mets are part of the west division Surprise Saguaros along with the Cardinals, Rangers, Red Sox, and Royals.
Dad and I are also going to back to Florida again in March for Mets spring training.

Beltran was absolutely behind the umpire Torres fiasco and it is just something he should have had no part in. I get that he is a Card now and in a pennant race but you don’t throw your former teammates and friends under the bus to get there. I was happy to see him go 0-4 last night and that appeal on the missed second base bag to end the game was just turnabout fair play I sooo enjoyed that. Generally I am opposed to boos from the fans to a player no matter how badly he is playing; I believe it is counterproductive and rude. BUT in Beltran’s case next time he is in Citi field I want it long and I want it loud.

RA notched his 18th win and what a success story he has been, I recall when I first saw him in Buffalo I believe I started writing about him here and tellin you guys he was going to something special It was in 2010 and the first game he pitched was a complete game one hitter. I could not wait for him to get promoted and come to Flushing and when he did I was over the top excited and watching him pitch just gives me goose bumps.

Off day today all the boys have headed home to enjoy the day with no work outs or events scheduled just time of to relax. Here are a few of em getting ready for a little fantasy football

So we lost last night in Brooklyn but the Cyclones remain alive that’s because we had already qualified for the New York-Penn League playoffs before we even took to the field since Batavia's loss in Game 1 of a doubleheader at Jamestown. We will take on the Hudson Valley Renegades in Game One of a best-of-three playoff series beginning on Friday, September 7th.We will have the awesome Hansel Robles on the mound, and Hansel has led the league and established a franchise record with a 1.11 ERA during the regular season. This will be our fourth straight year. Soooooo pumped.

Just a few quick things before I head over to Brooklyn, BP starts a little later, big game tonight.
I wanted to update the story regarding the Mets and the 9/11 responders hats. You will recall last year the MLB got their panties all in a bunch cause the Mets wore the hats without permission, so this year the Mets decided to do it right and get the ok ahead of time and wrote a request in. The decision is the Mets received permission to wear first-responder hats during batting practice and the national anthem on Sept. 11,Then switch to the ”regulation” caps during the game. I guess it's better than nothing but what a bunch of bull that is why the fuck the guys can not wear the caps during the game is just plain stupid makes no sense at all and is an insult to all of us Mets fans and New Yorkers. shame on you MLB, commissioner Selig and Joe Torre.

A couple of the guys including Mike Baxter, Dillon Gee and Bobby Parnell went to the 9/11 memorial and visited the one of the FDNY stations yesterday, they had done the same last year but more guys went then than did yesterday but that’s because of the day off and a lot of guys went home for the day and were not in NY. The guys also went to the USS Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum and worked with a bunch of volunteers assembling bicycles that will be given to children of parents serving in the military as part of the 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance program.

Ike Davis will have his annual a charity event Sunday night to benefit research to prevent childhood cancer. Along with Ike just about every team mate will be there, David Wright, Mike Baxter, Matt Harvey, Josh Edgin, Jonathon Niese, Daniel Murphy, Justin Turner, Kelly Shoppach, Ronny Cedeno, Robert Carson, Dillon Gee, Lucas Duda and Zach Lutz. Country music star Lee Brice will perform. There will be an open bar, Ike and some of the guys will bartend, there will be food of course as well as raffles, and some cool stuff auctioned off. Last year the event raised $60,000.It will be a busy day for me cause we finish the playoffs in Brooklyn the same day but the game is at 1:05 so even with any post game stuff in Brooklyn I will have plenty of time to get to the event which runs from 7-10 pm. Of course you will read all about it here on Monday.

Tim Byrdak, had the surgery to repair a torn capsule in his shoulder as well as a torn cartilage in his knee on Wednesday, happy to report all went well. Tim is hoping to revive his career after what will be about a 12-month recovery time, meaning the soonest we could see him would be September 2013. All the best to Tim who is for sure one of the good guys.

Thanks sonny for those updates, really appreciate them. So even when the Mets do the right thing and make a formal request, we get crap from Selig and Torre. wtf about Torre, anyway? Managed in New York for a long time but guess because the Mets have the most connection to people because of that amazing first game after 9/11 with the Piazza home run to beat the Braves.....he just wants to be a stuck in the mud rules ass. At least we got half a loaf but for one game for God sakes....it's to honor those who perished on 9/11 and their families so what fucking assholes MLB are in this situation. Fucking unbelievable.

Glad some of the guys are doing their part in memory of those who died on 9/11 . Also very proud of Ike's dedication to his friend Mike and the cancer charity he really has made a big part of his life. The guys seem so close, and so glad so many will be joining him and having a fun night for a very serious and worthy cause. I know you'll be there too, sonny and help out your buds....the best of luck btw with Brooklyn on it's playoff hopes. Can't wait to hear all about everything on Monday!:D

Freakin wild weather yesterday forced the postponement of our game in Brooklyn last night; the game has been rescheduled for today at 5:05 pm. If we win tonight we advance to the NYPL Championship series.

I dono if you guys saw my boy Hansel Robles at Citi yesterday were he received the Sterling Award for the Cyclones. This kid is awesome with an ERA now of 1.11 and a 6-1 record during the 2012 regular season. In our win on Friday he threw a nine-inning complete game that gave us the win with a 4-0 shutout. And That kiddies was the third nine-inning complete game in franchise history, and the first since August 28, 2010.
Remember the name Hansel Robles.

Yeah Saucy I am looking forward to Ike's charity event last year it was more fun than shoud be legal to have. The outcome of the Cyclone game will determine when I can get to there tonight, win or lose I will only be able to attend just the tail end but I will go no matter what, I need to support the Ike man. Ike figures the later I arrive the better the news will be for the Cyclones, Ike has a few buddies on the team both players and coaches. Heck, if we win I just might bring the whole team to the event :D

By the way how refreshing was it to see Kevin Burkhardt doing the play by play yesterday on FOX. Usually I hate when the games are not on SNY cause the play by play guys on FOX and ESPN are so boring.
Yup, our boy is moving up in the world. :=D:

Sorry to hear about the postponement and time change but I know you got to be with your Cyclone boys first, then end the evening with Ike and the gang. Hope you have a great day after all the wild weather the past few days....two tornadoes in Queens and Brooklyn?Fucking scary, but awesome too since we never really see those around here. Thankfully damage was minimal, and no one was hurt.

Jeremy Hefner frustrates so much...awful yesterday against the Braves giving up in not even three innings eight runs in an 11-3 Braves romp. He throws so well sometimes, then looks awful at times. Frustrating when you don't even give the club a real chance to be in the game!

Classy move by the Mets before the game Friday having a little ceremony honoring Chipper"La-a-ary!" Jones in his last series at CitiField against the Mets. Of course one of the best villains the Mets have eer played against all these years he played with the Braves, no one both openly embraced the role yet admired and respected the fans nd loved the city so much he named his own son Shea. There won't be too many like him.... like David Wright said the Mets may not miss him personally on the field but the game will. Mets gave him a drawing commemorating his efforts at Shea. He also said that the Mets should not give David Wright a chance to go free agent and re-up him this winter. They are friends and have great respect for how each other plays the game and conducts himself professionally and personally. He said he was always comfortable in Atlanta growing up nearby as a Southern boy but the reason he and the Braves always had a great relationship was that they never let it get so far that he actually would become a free agent. When the club shows you they want you, they respect and appreciate you and they don't needlessly play hardball no reason not to stay with the club.

Saucy I was Happy you mentioned Chipper, I still have not seen that game but have it on my DVR, dad tells me the tribute was touching Chipper was a class act and even thou we hate the Braved there will always be a special place in the heart for Mets fans We will see him one more time when the Mets go to Atlanta on the 28th.

It went well for Ike last night but for the Cyclones not so much, we dropped the game in an 8-1 loss to the Hudson Valley Renegade. The series is now tied at 1-1. We got just one run when Eudy Pina homered to center field. Our pitchers just did not have it last night plain and simple, Luis Mateo went 5 innings and allowing three runs on six hits with two walks he did strike out four. So will be back tonight for Game Three of the semi-finals. First pitch at 6:05 PM. The winner of tomorrow night's game will advance to the final round of playoffs.

As I walked into Ike’s event last night I caught his eye and gave him thumbs down he returned with a sad sorry about that look on his face. later I spent a few minutes with him and told him about the frustrating game and Ike with an encouraging smile said “Get em tomorrow “Did not get much time with Ike he was in great demand and real busy running around tending bar doing interviews and trying to speak to as many as he could, an obviously very happy and appreciative Ike for the great turnout. As I looked around I saw that just a couple of players were missing almost everyone came to support Ike it was very emotional for me seeing all the brothers there for Ike. It was a country theme and Country singer Brice Lee was also there and admitted that he did not know much Ewing's sarcoma, but said that it was sad that they're so underfunded for really specific cancers like what this charity's for, and that he wanted to help everyone have a good time last night and started singing a terrific song I think was called ‘Four on the Floor' that got everyone pumped up to have some fun.
A whole bunch of players did the bartending thing besides Ike we had Matt Harvey who mixed some really strong drinks, I mean STRONG! Matt made me a drink and said “after that game today I think maybe you need this” ;)Yeah the word got around quick about the Cyclone game and I was prepared to take some crap about it from some of the guys including Turner who said “been there dude” Wright, Niese and Baxter also spent time behind the bar, Just a great night for Ike and his friend Mike Lio who died way too young from the disease; he was only 22. The theme was let’s have fun to honor Mike and raise money to fight the disease it also proved once again what I always tell you guys about how close the players are to one another. Ike wanted the night to be a celebration of Mike’s life with some quality time with his teammates away from baseball which is very important to them.

I have a bunch of pictures; Turner has the flash drive as soon as I get it back I will post some. For now here are a couple taken off a camera phone video that are not very good.

Niese and Harvey

Ike takes the stage

Harvey tends bar

Good updates guys. Been busy and getting into the football season has kept me from commenting too much. That and the utter disappointment with the way the Mets are performing. Some good pitching, but as usual, not any offense to support it. Tonite we begin a series vs the Nats who are getting a reputation as a damn good team that wins games in numerous ways. They are never out of a game, have a good offense and superb pitching; starting and relieving, even with Strasburg shut down, they have a formidable rotation. A good bet to go deep into the playoffs. That being said, Lets go Mets!!

You said it syam....mostly it seems like Sunday with Young we get a well pitched game but damn offense is so hard to come by. Yep, onny I was happy to mention Chipper who in his last at bat, a late game pinch hitting appearance, was walked by Frank Francisco and when he came out for a runner got a very nice reception from the fans which he acknowleged appreciately. Joked that it was the first time in New York the cheers outnumbered the boos!;) We'll see him once more in Atlanta later in the month....Chipper you were always a pleasure to face, and can't wait till you get into the Hall of Fame in five years!..|

Thanks for the update about your activities yesterday, sonny. Sorry about the loss your Cyclones had but like Ike said "Get em tomorrow!"
So good to hear about the turnout and the fun the boys had tending bar and just enjoying themselves in helping Ike with a great cause. Hope Turner gets the pics to you soon!;) Anyway, glad you still had time after the game to support Ike and enjoy the festivities!

The Brooklyn Cyclones’ season is done we lost last night to the Hudson Valley Renegades 2-0.The Renegades who out pitched us they have an amazing pitcher by the name ofTaylor Guerrieri who I am sure you will be hearing a lot about in the future. The will now advance to the final round of the Championship Series. Our boy Luis Cessa pitched a pretty good game but our offensive went to sleep and gave no support.
Gee…..where have we seen that before? Oh yeah, The Mets  But at least the Cyclones ended above .500 which the Mets are in danger of not doing.

So I have a couple more days here in Brooklyn my last day will be Thursday and then it’s back to the reality of my ole job which I have to admit I have missed. However I sincerely want to thank “Uncle Rich” Donnelly for the great opportunity he gave me to work with the team it was a rewarding exciting experience I learned a lot and made a bunch of new friends and have worked with some awesome up and coming talents like Luis Mateo, Hansel Robles, John Mincone, Phil Evans and my boy Brandon Nimmo, I also want to say thanks to the man who hired me Billy Harner and the great coaches like Marc, Bobby, and Eric who made me welcome and taught me so much. It was a great run and I wish all of my boys a great off season and look forward to 2013 when God willing we get to do it again.

After I finish up on my last day Thursday I am going to take a few days off before going back to work on Monday, I may not be posting again till then but I hope some of you will keep it going till I get back. There are still three weeks of Mets baseball to talk about and then this fall/winter I will be writing about what is going on in Arizona with the guys playing in that league as well as updates on what Davis and Thole are up to out there, then in March I will have a spring training report from Florida . In between all of that I will have a little something something going on with Murphy in Jupiter more on that later.

Best of luck to RA Dickey in his quest for a well-deserved Cy Young

Let’s go Mets!

Sorry, sonny on the end of the Cyclone's season.I know how much this season especially meant to you, not only being such a huge fan but getting a fantastic opportunity to work for the team and with these guys. Very classy recognizing the boys and those who so happily gave you his opportunity, hopefully we'll see some of the players mentioned in a Mets uniform someday. I know you really love Hansel Robles, Phillip Evans, and in particular Brandon Nimmo and can't wait to see how they will progress. Take time to relax a bit and get back into the swing of things back at your family's business.

RA pitched welll enough to win, keeping his team in the game just allowing three runs but these days keeping the team in the game isn't good enough... just no run scoring except in rare situations. Matt Harvey pitched really well in his next to last start this year only allowing one run in five innings and impressively striking out 10 for the second time in his major league debut season. But we still lose tonight to the Nats 2-0. If anything we know his stuff is electric, he has tremendous mental toughness and professionalism never backing down to anyone he faces. Once he harnesses his control and eliminates the occasional longball mistake he is going to be a force!

It just is getting so old seeing the Mets not being able to put any kind of offensive streak together. Lucas Duda is looking better and David Wright though cooling off still is having a kind of season Mets fans were hoping he would rebound with. But it's so much like watching paint dry hoping for a series of consecutive hits,walks,etc.....with under 20 games left the Mets are 65-78 and all the excitement leading into a 46-40 record at the All Star break is gone. Don't know exactly how we'll get that back.:(
