Newt Gingrich- The last man standing

Charles Krauthammer on O'Reilly tonite said that despite Gingrich's rise in the polls ......

That he was at best 10-1 to win
That he has been ignored for all this time by the media and critics - that will NOT continue
That forget his personal indiscretions .....
His political positions and actions will not endear him to Conservatives - ie. saying that global warming exists (imagine that ;))
supporting an individual mandate
and others

Charles K says ......... sorry Newt

I'm not so sure

Oh chance.

The problem with Newt is that he tried to subscribe to the Romney model and that is to keep his mouth shut "tight, tight" (sorry have song lyrics whistling through my head at the speed of light). It doesn't work. The problem with other GOP candidates is that they opened their mouths and bile spewed forth like a gaping chasm which allowed Newt to forge ahead in the polls artificially.

I think he's been pretty damn good in the debates

his disdain for gotcha questions has been consistent and spot on

he doesn't diss his competitors .........

my sense is perry and cain are officially done - bachman was already

so pure math says .............. he's in it

saw a poll recent that had him ahead of romney

let's see how the media handles it

should be interesting

MSNBC I'm sure is preparing the hit pieces - in fact they prob started them yesterday

All he's done in the debates is diss the moderators and act like an egotistical ass.

Frankly, I can't blame him for going off on Chris Wallace, who is a complete and egotistical ass, himself.

Wallace is as rude as Hell, sometimes, and I feel it is definitely an "ego" and "reputation" thing for why he acts the way he does. It's not that his questions are "point blank" and blunt as can be ... I don't have as much a problem with that ... it's the way he asks them which make him come off as a complete asshole that does what he does to entertain his own ego.

I see it very differently

IMO what he has accomplished is to reign in the arrogance and actually smile a bit and NOT seem so all knowing

as Charles K said last night, NG is a guy who thinks of 8 ideas to solve a problem - often none are fully thought out

def an idea guy

not necessarily a presidential thing .......

but in the debates he has come across as well versed (vs. perry, cain), experienced in govt. (vs. romney) and more likable

when i agree with u his personna has been arrogant and difficult

i already saw an article this am about a 300k payment from freddie/fannie for lobbying

here comes the newt shit sliding down the hill

his front runner status is likely already a distant memory ;)

If Newt gets the nomination..Obama can pretty much just kick back and let Newt's own hypocrisy do him in.

As i figured

Chris Matthews spent 30 minutes with head nodding duo on how loathsome newt is

Really sad state of affairs

MSNBC sucks

MSNBC sucks

MSNBC in general is just as bad as Fox usually with all the hosts only taking one side. Morning Joe is about the only exception, and occasionally Maddow makes a few good points, but usually she's just as partisan as the rest of them.

Yay! He'll be such a strong leader, able to espouse and live the things he believes in, like the sanctity of marriage (affair, divorce, affair, divorce), being true to his upbringing (southern baptist turned catholic), holding government to account (he is the problem, remember government shut down?). Oh yeah, it'll be orgasmic.

Chance - I watched Joe this morning. Mika was going on and on about Huntsman saying he hasn't gotten enough publicity.

From what I see, they push Huntsman at every opportunity.

Why do they like him so much?

Affairs seemed to increase the popularity of people like JFK, RFK, Clinton. Maybe they will help Newt.

Huntsman is a moderate republican - there used to be a lot of them - there was a wave many years back

now it's all cut taxes, traditional marriage and be a hawk (unless Obama does it first)

Saw Huntsman on Hannity with his daughters - 3 beautiful girls - who are working for dad - was a nice thing

The whole Republican nomination process sorta guarantees a guy who can win the part that doesn't really count

major disconnect between repub primary and genl election

I think MSNBC would do themselves well by having on opposing viewpoints

I think Chris, Rachel and O'Donnell are bright enough not to have a rigged deck - not sure Ed Schultz can manage the opposing viewpoint

but alas ........

not sure I hear u completely on Fox

Hannity is in a league of his own - poor man's Rush - who pretends to be listening to an opposing viewpoint (see Bob Bechel) but instead repeats talking points incessantly - he's the pits and IMO as bad/worse BUT

he never directly demeans the Pres/other dems the way the MSNBC crowd does - perhaps he thinks it but does not say it

If you watch O'Reilly he has been very critical of the Republican primary candidates - in addition to Obama

Greta is ............ non issue

Ah, but there's a difference: Fox people deliberately lie to make their "points" (they went to court over that, remember), while my take on Maddow is she selects topics that help go her way.

Her way is a bit more honest.
