Newt or Mitt in South Carolina?

I'm calling it all across the South. That's where Gingrich will win. What would I have to call? This is just obvious. And please stop trying to make this personal.. that has no place here. I know you don't like me... but lets stick to the issues at hand.

And I'll say I knew it all I want. And it is very true.

But yeah, my interest in the GOP clown show is about as deep as the show itself. I'm taking it all in good humor. Nothing that any of these republicans say should be taken seriously.

dude - get real

THIS thread - the one we're in RIGHT NOW - started BEFORE - so people could say "who will win"

the idea being

you guess/predict

you're doing the "i knew it all the time" thing

thanks but no thanks

Ron Paul is on CNN talking to his supporters

he is going on and on and on about monetary policy

droning on and on

it's brutal

turn it on if u see this

I actually think Ron Paul has lost it

he just can't stop talking about ALL of his issues

it's as if he's making up for all of the debate time that he doesn't get ;)

I swear this shit is so confusing. How long we have to watching this until they pick a actual nominee? What will one have to do to secure the nomination and shut the rest of them up? I look for Ron Paul to branch off and run on his own after he keeps falling.

Ron has always been a deranged old goat.

I can't believe we have a three way tie in the conservative primary.

This will be a very interesting game this year. It will also be a hoot to see how dirty they get at one another before the general. Hell by the time the primary gets to TN I may still be making a decision over something... lol

high 20's is about what Romney's been polling at in South Carolina all along.

I'm sure the press will make a huge deal over Romney's crushing defeat (when no one was even considering he'd win in SC 2 weeks ago), but really, Newt's win seems to have come from taking Santorum's voters away from him.

i agree with you intellectually but .........

timing is a bitch

he won iowa
this week they find NO
newt's wife revelations - shoulda killed newt
2 debates

mitt went from in front to ........

can't answer the tax question again
mealy mouthed at the debates
attacked successfully by santorum and newt at the debate

IMAGINE

if john king HAD NOT lead the debate the other night with his "open marriage" thing

hmmmm

But are there any actual conservatives in the primary?

Other than Paul? No.

But I agree with the comments above in that he looked awful when talking to CNN. David Gergen made him look like a fool when Ron was going on and on about the race being about delegates ... yet when Gergen asked him how many delegates he would need to influence the election at the convention ... Paul had no answer. Ron simply stated that he takes things "day by day" ... which made him look extremely unPresidential and essentially look like a man without a plan.

And truth be told, Ron has no plan on winning the nomination, since he knows he won't.

a tad simplistic no? ;)

your hatred of Newt is skewing your posts from the normal great to blech !!

Newt won because:

Romney stiffed both debates - looked like a deer in the headlights
Romney is NOT a conservative
Newt in both debates referenced local/regional interests - as he knows the area
Romney got caught up in income/tax issues

and the kicker was Newt's ass whipping of John King opening the debate the other night

That was part of my point. The answer had absolutely nothing to do with Newt's qualifications or lack thereof to be president. It moved people just because he got angry and the GOP loves an angry old white guy, what MysticWizard has been saying. That is not a rational way to choose a president.

Next debate opening question:

Mr. Gingrich, you responded forcefully to a question about your past marital infidelity, at the last debate. Since you were one of his persecutors, would you say President Clinton should have responded in the same way when he was asked questions with similar content?

Well; OPINIONS are like a** holes; everyone seems to have one, so I'll throw mine out there ...
RON PAUL is the ONLY one who has stayed consistant with his ideas and policies over the years and even during the primaries , so far ...
IF folks would LISTEN to what he is saying ; it generally makes more sense than what the other three combined have to say ...
Also; RON PAUL is the ONLY one without some kind of scandal in his past ; UNLIKE Newt and Mitt ... even Santorium , for that matter ....
I think it is unlikely ; BUT I wouldn't mind seeing RON PAUL get the Republican nod or even run Independent .... One thing to consider , is that Santorium, Romney, and Gingrich have ALL stated that they are against same sex unions/marriage and even same sex relationships ... IF any of them get in office; it will set back same sex rights by about 50 years ... What a shame it would be to come so far , only to go back even further ...

I think Santorum will exceed expectations and thus get the most traction out of it, even if he places third. Romney and Gingrich are killing each other's campaigns.

So I was wrong.

Well, Santorum exceeded the expectations of three weeks ago, but did lousy compared to IA. Of course 17% is better than in NH, but only if he had more than 20% would this have been a real three-horse race. If he doesn't do very well in FL and the February states I guess he will be out soon.

As for Paul, it seems he just can't get past the 15% mark no matter how many other candidates drop out.

Sometimes, the power of the understatement is absolutely overwhelming!

"Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon,
Going to the candidates’ debate.
Laugh about it, shout about it, when you’ve got to choose
Any way you look at it you lose."
Paul Simon, 1967

The more things change, the more they stay the same?
Write in The Shamwow Guy! He's out of the slammer. (!)

lol......Mitt is the opposite of inspirational....every thing he says or does is greed/power....he has that guilty look on his face, in his voice, everything about him....id love for Obama to prosecute Romney's career as a vampire capitalist.
