I'm surprised at people saying they don't have any use for the porn side of this site. I can understand how you might be being drawn to the fora, I guess, though most of the discussion here is about porn and related topics.
Coming here to OPPOSE porn is either hypocritical or just plain old trolling.
I was very upset when I found out "Noel" was still in high school. I really think SC should not use people who are still in school, even if they're 18. I worry about his hopes of joining the Army, which tends to take a dim view of being in gay porn, even though they DO take convicted felons; this is an injustice ripe for activism for those who still have the energy (I did mine in the 1970s).
The issue of sex work is complex,* particularly with regard to the very young (albeit 18+) and poor. For me, it's a matter of working (through personal argument and public (for anonymized-internet values of 'public') discourse--yeah, haven't QUITE stopped being an activist, I just don't carry signs on the street anymore) to end the stigma that makes it sadly unlikely that "Noel" will be able to get a professional job or even join the Army.
In 20 years, HR people will know that just about everyone has embarrassing bits of youth, and perhaps (if we can get rid of homophobic, anti-sex, hate-filled politicians) someday it will be illegal for them to check certain things (which would require new technology), or something. Right now it's just become possible to check all that stuff AND it's still enough to keep you out of a job, so we're in a FUCKED UP period of history.
*For example, it's illegal to pay someone to have sex with you (except in Nevada)--unless you're filming it for public release. So if I hire a young guy to have sex with me,** I've broken the law, but if Jake Cruise (who is about my age) hires a young guy to have sex with him and films it, he hasn't. What the hell is that? If I film my sexual encounter with the hired guy, does that make it legal, or do I have to actually put it up on the web to make it legal? If I put it up on Xtube is that good enough? My point is that the current state of these laws make no sense whatsoever.
**I never would, for the record. If nothing else, it would ruin the whole thing for me.
